Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 747: Chapter 508: When the Great Wind Rises (Part 3)

People with clear eyes can see why all of this is happening, but in the grand scheme of things, such talk has already convinced many people, who have joined the army of condemnation.

They took the incident involving Zhou Yun as a pretext to start a conversation about ”one should express oneself truthfully.”

This topic gained a lot of support from young people. It’s true after all; which young person wouldn’t support the topic ”one should express oneself truthfully?”

And the problem here is, while many people support this topic, this spirit, a few individuals have guided it to turn into an attitude of condemning Zhou Yun and ostracizing her.

You must realize, for any public figure, the most important thing is public image. Unless you adopt a devil-may-care attitude, seeking notoriety, or the Fang Zhouzi way.

Under such public pressure, even though Zhou Yun’s starring role in ”Behind the Scenes” just won an award, even though Zhou Yun has actual accomplishments, she has no choice but to keep a low profile for now.

During this time, brands that approached her for endorsements or collaborations started to hesitate, and even exploited the situation to bargain.

Zhou Lan didn’t agree to any price cut.

”Anyone with eyes can see this baseless attack for what it is. If you don’t have the sincerity for this collaboration, then don’t bother coming to us in the future,” Zhou Lan took a very firm stand. ”What kind of person is Zhou Yun? Is she real or fake, do those who have worked with her not know? A bunch of people taking video clips out of context to create a fuss, and you still want to take advantage of the situation? No way!”

Zhou Lan’s tough stance, in fact, wasn’t aimed at those looking for a bargain, but rather was to show Zhou Yun’s collaborative brands.

—Don’t worry, this is just temporary negative news.

At the same time, Zhou Lan was also trying to find ways to cool down the public fervor online regarding Zhou Yun. In such situations, unless a miraculous turnaround occurs, it’s best to reduce the heat, so as to extricate Zhou Yun from this quagmire of public opinion as much as possible.

As for how to improve Zhou Yun’s image—against such baseless smearing, over time, without them doing anything, everyone will forget.

Unless this incident continues to ferment, to keep fermenting until it becomes a fixed impression in most people’s minds, so whenever they see Zhou Yun, the automatic thought that comes to mind is ”fake.”

This is what Zhou Lan is determined not to let happen.

So, cooling things down quickly is now the top priority for Zhou Lan.

For this purpose, Zhou Lan made several moves.

The first move was to release some damaging information she had obtained, like that of Su Yan. Among the people who fell from grace this time, Su Yan was one. Zhou Lan didn’t hold back at all when releasing Su Yan’s dirt, using it to distract everyone, then she also released the news of Wei Ru Xue suppressing Zhou Yun at the company in the past. Wei Ru Xue suppressing Zhou Yun at the company was a fact, but under Zhou Lan’s manipulation, the reason Zhou Yun was so present in all areas was because she was under Wei Ruxue’s suppression in the past, fighting hard to survive, that’s why she developed such a habit. Without being all-round, Zhou Yun couldn’t have made it to fame.

Zhou Lan’s two moves, one was releasing news about Su Yan to divert attention, the other was releasing news about Wei Ru Xue, turning the focus onto Wei Ru Xue while providing a reasonable and sympathetic excuse for Zhou Yun’s ”all-round” demeanour.

To put it bluntly, it’s all public relations.

Zhou Lan’s actions were swift and spot-on.

But this time, the attackers of Zhou Yun seemed to be very tenacious, continuously smearing Zhou Yun, attacking her on the grounds of being ”fake” and going after several of her close male friends.

A Gu Huaichun, a He Yong, a Yu Zhiyang who was recovering in the hospital...

They even dug into Yu Zhiyang.

Some rumors started to circulate, no one knew when.

”Do you know? Initially, the male lead for ’Under the Grand Dress’ wasn’t Zhou Jianfeng. At first, Zhou Yun fancied another young man, named Yu Zhiyang. It’s said that she even argued with He Yong, who boosted her career, just to have Yu Zhiyang play the male lead.”
