Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 740: Chapter 506: Between Friends (Part 2)

”Let’s go together then,” said Song Chi. ”It’s not like we can’t walk.”

It was noon.

”Hungry?” asked Zhou Yun.

Song Chi shook his head.

Zhou Yun: ”I’m not hungry either.”

”But we should still eat something,” said Song Chi.

”Okay.”

Zhou Yun went to check the fridge, only to find it quite empty.

”What to do? Seems like we have nothing,” said Zhou Yun. ”We can only order takeout.”

”There are dumplings in the freezer, Auntie made them earlier,” Song Chi said. ”How about we just boil some dumplings?”

”Sounds good.” Zhou Yun nodded and stood up to go to the kitchen.

After boiling a plate of dumplings, the two of them ate together and then watched ”Hidden.”

”The acting is really good,” Zhou Yun couldn’t help but exclaim in the middle.

Song Chi nodded, ”Actually, even if such a script came our way, we wouldn’t fit the roles, we’re too far apart in age.”

”We could shoot ’Masquerade’ though,” Zhou Yun said with a smile, ”’Sparrow’ is not bad either.”

”Mm,” Song Chi nodded, ”But those two dramas lean more towards idols. What’s special about ’Hidden’ is that although it is a serious espionage script, it’s shot as if it were a documentary. It captures the subtleties and spirit of the era.”

”The actors are great too,” Zhou Yun said. ”Their performances are excellent.”

Until three in the afternoon, suddenly someone messaged Zhou Yun.

It was from Wan Lanlan, editor of ”Victor”: Xiao Yun, congratulations on ”Behind the Scenes” winning an award. I have a personal request; I wonder if it’s convenient for you? I’m running a personal official account, where I record some of my own work situations and thoughts, and it has over thirty thousand followers. I’d like to do a brief interview with you about your trip to Cannes, in text format. Would that be okay with you?

After reading, Zhou Yun replied: Sister Lanlan, I have to go out later, but if it doesn’t take too long, no problem.

Wan Lanlan sent a hugging emoji: I’ll organize the questions I want to ask, and you can answer them whenever you find time and send them to me.

Zhou Yun sent back an OK gesture.

Wan Lanlan didn’t ask many questions, just ten. Three about her filming ”Behind the Scenes,” three about her trip to Cannes, and four about her upcoming work plans.

Zhou Yun answered her questions one by one and sent them over.

Wan Lanlan: That was fast, thank you! After I’ve edited the content, should I send the draft to your agent for confirmation first?

Zhou Yun: Sure, thank you, Sister Lanlan.

Wan Lanlan: I should be the one thanking you.

Zhou Yun smiled.

Zhou Yun could understand Wan Lanlan’s desire to run her own official account. She’s an editor for a fashion magazine - if one day she leaves the magazine, what else could she rely on? Many editors have started their own official accounts or social media profiles, sharing snippets of life or work, because they often interact with celebrities, who appear in their stories and attract lots of attention.

In short, when traditional media editors move into self-media, they start with more resources than most newcomers.

After replying to Wan Lanlan, Zhou Yun got ready to leave.

She took a shower, then left with Song Chi to meet Gu Huaichun.

The venue was, naturally, chosen by Gu Huaichun, a place very focused on privacy.

Gu Huaichun’s friend was Zhong Qiu, who used to be a producer at Shenyuan TV Station, and had jumped ship to Chestnut Video when the company was ambitiously expanding its content production department. Backed by significant capital, Chestnut Video’s expansion was aggressive, and an idea proposed by Zhong Qiu got greenlit for production.

After asking Gu Huaichun, Zhong Qiu also requested Gu Huaichun to introduce him to Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun was incredibly popular, her fame peaking — any variety show would dream of having her on.

But Zhou Yun was consistently busy filming, rarely available to record shows, with an appearance roughly every two to three months, categorizing her as challenging to book.

Upon the arrival of Zhou Yun and Song Chi, Zhong Qiu was astonishingly surprised. On one hand, Zhou Yun came without her agent — when Gu Huaichun promised to meet with him, he had hoped that Gu Huaichun wouldn’t tell Zhou Yun the details, fearing that knowing the true nature of the meeting, she might not want to come. However, Gu Huaichun absolutely refused to deceive, and yet Zhou Yun agreed to come nonetheless. Zhong Qiu had been contacting and trying to schedule meetings with various artists, but anyone involved knows that the current celebrity market is in high demand and low supply.
