Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 743: Chapter 507:

He seemed truly provoked, his tone of voice slightly changing.

Zhou Yun said, ”It’s not that I don’t want to act, it’s just really hard to fit it into my schedule, I’ve already accepted many roles.”

”True, after all, you are the Movie Queen,” He Xuran said.

Zhou Yun looked at him puzzled and said, ”I only said I wasn’t interested in this movie because my schedule is nearly full, why are you mocking me like this?”

Realizing the tone he had used just now, He Xuran quickly shook his head and said, ”No, no, you misunderstand, that’s not what I meant.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”Then what do you mean? What does this have to do with whether I am the Movie Queen or not? Does not being the Movie Queen mean I can juggle more roles?”

He Xuran gave an awkward smile, ”Of course not, everyone has seen how dedicated you are.”

”It’s fine as long as you didn’t mean it that way,” Zhou Yun shrugged and said, ”Then thank you for your kindness.”

When He Xuran came to find Zhou Yun, he was convinced that she would definitely be interested in this big production. How many actors are truly uninterested in big productions? Impossible. But to his surprise, Zhou Yun was indeed uninterested and even directly rejected him.

He Xuran was somewhat infuriated and embarrassed, but his anger was of no use, he had no way to deal with Zhou Yun.

After He Xuran left, Zheng Xiaojue whispered to Zhou Yun, ”Sister Xiao Yun, I think this He Xuran looks like a villain.”

”Really? Isn’t he quite handsome?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

”He is handsome, but he just looks like he’s up to no good,” Zheng Xiaojue bluntly stated.

”Wow, you have sharp eyes,” Zhou Yun chuckled and said, ”But let’s not talk about others behind their backs; go buy me a cup of coffee, I feel like having one.”

”Okay,” Zheng Xiaojue nodded.

By the wrap day of ”Four Killers”, Zhou Yun let out a long sigh.

She felt absolutely no reluctance, only a sense of immense relief from finally wrapping up and being able to leave.

Yao Yuanfeng personally came to the set to wrap up the shoot for her.

After saying goodbye to everyone, Zhou Yun was personally taken by Yao Yuanfeng to a restaurant.

”Miss Zhou, please have a seat,” Yao Yuanfeng invited Zhou Yun to sit down, ”I know you are very tired and want to go back and rest, but I have something very important to tell you, so please, give me a bit more of your time, and let’s have dinner together.”

Zhou Yun was already used to and almost immune to Yao Yuanfeng’s tone.

She said, ”Go ahead, President Yao, since you’ve brought me to the restaurant, I can’t just leave without eating anything.”

Yao Yuanfeng started smiling, looking very pleased, and said, ”I knew you wouldn’t mind. Here’s the thing, ’Four Killers’ while not completely wrapped yet, has already had other countries interested in buying distribution rights. Once they heard that you were starring in it, and it’s an action movie, they got really interested. I know you’re not interested in the second part of ’Four Killers,’ you didn’t enjoy filming this movie, but believe me, ’Four Killers’ will definitely help take your film career to the next level.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”Ah? President Yao, how can you be so sure? How do you already know this movie will take my career to the next level? It’s not only unreleased, it’s not even completely filmed yet, today was just my own scenes wrapping up.”

”I’ve already seen the rough cut, and it’s really good looking, fast-paced, very engaging,” Yao Yuanfeng said, ”What I mean is, any actor not only needs awards to their name. Take Maggie Cheung, for example, from the two movies she won at the Three Major European Film Festivals, how many people have actually seen them? One ’Ruan Lingyu’ and one ’Clean’. More talk, fewer watchers. Actually, people know her, recognize her, like her not only because of those movies but because of high box office movies like ’Comrades: Almost a Love Story’. You are very popular now, and you are doing great in films, but actually, you surely also know that the shortcoming in your filmography is your relatively brief acting career. Everyone says ’Life’ did well, being an art film it made over a hundred million at the box office, but even making over a hundred million doesn’t mean that many people have seen the film.”

”Just look at today’s films, making several billions at times; if you have a high box office series of films, it will definitely increase your fanbase multifold,” Yao Yuanfeng said, ”Think about it, how many people will believe a movie is well made just because of your name and then go to watch that movie? Actually, there aren’t that many. Truly, the actors who can attract a large audience into theaters just with their name are very few.”
