Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 733: Chapter 504: Filled with Anticipation

These past few days, Su Yan has been feeling restless.

The people around her all noticed it, but nobody spoke up, nobody mentioned it.

Those who know Su Yan also know the reason for her restlessness.

She has been filming recently with Xu Siyao.

Both of them are in the same crew, seemingly harmonious on the surface, but several frictions have occurred in private.

If it wasn’t for wanting the film to be completed smoothly, according to her temperament, she would have already pressured the crew and caused trouble for Xu Siyao.

This time, filming is different from before; she has invested in this film, so she can’t afford any mishaps.

So, despite her considerable dissatisfaction with many things, she has held back for various considerations.

In the last few days, Xu Siyao’s complexion has noticeably worsened.

But Su Yan knows why Xu Siyao looks this way because the person they both despise has recently become the talk of the town. Everywhere in the industry and online, the news is full of her, and almost everyone is discussing her. What’s more intolerable or, perhaps, worrisome is that people have unconsciously started to look up to her when they talk about her.

Others might not mention it, but Su Yan is aware of it.

Whenever people see her, they say hello, you’re a great Celebrity, so famous, with so many fans, beautiful, probably a ratings guarantee, an Actress that definitely won’t make investors lose money.

But beyond these flattering words, in fact, not many people truly respect her or recognize her artistic achievements as an actress.

Whether people respect you or not is very clear.

Pretense can’t deceive the heart.

What Su Yan envies is that Zhou Yun has unconsciously raised everyone’s attitude towards her.

Why does everyone want to win awards with real substance?

Because awards symbolize the hopes of industry peers, and they subtly guide the public’s impressions and perceptions of the winners.

And some actors, without having won any weighty awards, are already considered deserving Movie Kings in many people’s eyes.

This will result in a perception among the public that Zhou Yun has surpassed Su Yan.

When people mention Su Yan, they say, ah, a very famous Actress, very popular, I’ve watched her shows.

When they mention Zhou Yun, they say, ah, an incredibly talented actress, extraordinarily gifted, Movie Queen.

Both are positive evaluations, yet there’s a difference between positive and positive.

What aggravates Su Yan the most is Jinling Jewelry. She had been the spokesperson for this brand, but when her contract expired, the brand chose not to renew with her but instead went with Zhou Yun.

This actually represents a kind of trend.

In the market, brand sponsors are recognizing Zhou Yun more.

If it hadn’t been for the huge success of ”Heart Inquiry,” which brought her to a career peak and back into the favor of brand sponsors, she might have ended up like Lew Qingqing, gradually losing her popularity.

Lew Qingqing, once Su Yan’s rival, has had no new shows broadcast in the past two years. Besides getting pregnant, she has no other memorable events. Even being nominated for the Best Actress at a prestigious award didn’t make much of a splash, and her exposure has been dwindling. Of course, she is still considered top-tier in the market but is also slowly being forgotten.

Su Yan has widened the gap between her and Lew Qingqing.

But at the same time, Zhou Yun has widened the gap with her.

These days, Su Yan is a bit worried. She knows her worries are unlikely to come true, and perhaps she’s worrying over nothing, but she can’t help it, she can’t help worrying about it. What if, just what if Zhou Yun wins Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival?

If that happens, it goes without saying that Zhou Yun will not only secure her No.1 position among young actors but will also catapult herself into the top echelon of actresses.

He Ting, as Su Yan’s agent, is well aware of what Su Yan is worried about, and as soon as she speaks, it’s about Su Yan’s concerns.

”Don’t worry, don’t overthink. It’s not that easy to win,” He Ting said. ”Think about it, how many of our actors have won the Best Actress award at Cannes?”

Su Yan said with melancholy, ”I’m just worried about a possibility.”

He Ting replied, ”I guarantee you, it’s not that easy. The main competition films that have been screened so far have a high buzz for the French actress Greta Garbo, and many media are saying she is the top contender for Best Actress this time. With her there, even if Zhou Yun performs well, it won’t be easy to win the award. The jury this time doesn’t have any Asians, you know, Cinema People from Europe and America have never really valued Asians much.”
