Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 736: Chapter 505: The Goddess Returns Home

When the Best Director Award was being presented, Zhou Yun glanced at Xue Qin.

Xue Qin clasped her hands together, holding them to her chest. Although she tried to control her expression, her nervousness was still evident.

But in the next second, the name announced by the presenter was not Xue Qin.

Amidst the applause, Zhou Yun couldn’t help but feel a tinge of regret for Xue Qin.

Yet at the same time, she grew more expectant, because even the Best Actor and Best Actress had nothing to do with ”Behind the Scenes”.

Could it be...

When Zhou Yun thought of this, she couldn’t help but turn her head and exchange looks with everyone.

Is it possible?

Cannes wouldn’t call them back only to give them no awards, right?

Just then, the next set of presenters took the stage.

...

Domestically.

Su Yan was sitting in her trailer, waiting for her scene.

She constantly checked the news online, keeping an eye on it.

Although He Ting kept telling her not to always check the news, she couldn’t help it. Even the director of the movie she was currently filming noticed that she was very distracted today, not in the right state of mind.

The director even wondered if she was feeling unwell.

Su Yan didn’t explain. She couldn’t possibly say that her poor state was due to worrying about Zhou Yun winning an award.

Finally, after who knows how many refreshes, the media announced the Best Actress at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

It was Greta Garbo from France!

Su Yan breathed a sigh of relief.

It wasn’t Zhou Yun. It’s good as long as it’s not Zhou Yun.

As long as it’s not Zhou Yun, she didn’t mind who won the Best Actress.

If Zhou Yun really had won that award, Su Yan’s mind would have completely fallen apart, and she would never think of surpassing Zhou Yun again.

Fortunately, Zhou Yun hasn’t left her far behind.

Su Yan felt a sense of relief as if she had been saved from drowning.

She stepped out of her trailer, deciding to talk to the director about the character she was playing.

The director and his team were chatting and laughing together, seemingly joking about something.

As Su Yan approached, she suddenly saw someone pick up their phone, look at it, and say in amazement, ”Wow, ’Behind the Scenes’ starring Zhou Yun just won the Jury Prize at Cannes.”

Su Yan stopped in her tracks.

The director exclaimed in surprise, ”Really? They actually won an award?”

”The news is out, the award photos are out too. Amazing, winning an award with a debut film.”

”Have you guys noticed? Zhou Yun’s luck with awards is incredibly good. Almost all her works win awards.”

The director nodded and said, ”Zhou Yun’s luck with awards is indeed surprisingly good. I think I should collaborate with her in the future; maybe I’ll win an award too.”

”Do you think just because you want to collaborate with her, she would collaborate with you? Does she even hold you in regard?”

”I’ve heard that she is not an arrogant person. Look at the directors she’s worked with, several of them are new, even first-time directors.”

”That shows she has a good eye, able to judge people, and pick scripts.”

...

They talked and laughed, and hearing these discussions was like a cold splash on Su Yan, whose mood had just recovered.

Su Yan’s fingernails dug into her palms.

”Behind the Scenes” actually won an award? The Jury Prize no less, second only to the Palme d’Or!

A surge of rage and jealousy rose in Su Yan’s heart. But luckily, Zhou Yun didn’t win Best Actress. Su Yan consoled herself, and just then, someone saw her and called out, ”Miss Su.” In the crew, only those who weren’t close to her would call her Miss Su, and this caught everyone else’s attention.

The conversation was halted.

They didn’t continue out of respect for Su Yan in her presence—everyone knew the tense relationship between Su Yan and Zhou Yun.

Su Yan had originally intended to discuss her role with the director, but now she no longer felt up to it. It took a lot of effort for her to suppress the swirling emotions of jealousy and irritation within. She forced a smile and feigned indifference, asking, ”Director, when are we shooting the next scene? I’ve been waiting for so long.”

They were still setting up the scene.

The director said, ”It will take a while longer.”

”Well then, let me know when you’re ready to shoot,” Su Yan turned and walked away.

After she went back to her trailer and was out of sight, everyone resumed their previous discussion.

”Zhou Yun is a rare talent, one in a decade.”
