Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 716: Chapter 498: Luncheon Outing (Part 2)

Zhou Yun inwardly marveled, unsure what Lucia had done to make Brissaki speak to her so rudely.

However, Lucia was even more incredible. Even after being publicly ridiculed by Brissaki, she didn’t seem angry at all. With a hearty laugh, she said, ”I don’t mind being told that I lack unique vision and aesthetics, as long as the JL brand stays number one in the market.”

Zhou Yun internally: Wow.

She kept a straight face.

Brissaki snorted coldly and did not retort further.

After leaving the two of them behind, Zhou Yun whispered to Song Chi, ”Today is Blink’s luncheon, why is Lucia here?”

Song Chi said, ”They are both under Luyun Group. If Lucia wants to come, Brissaki can’t keep her out. The two have been competitors for a long time. I’ve seen it many times. It’s said that JL has consistently topped Blink in both European and North American markets. Because of this, the relationship between Brissaki and Lucia is quite explosive, especially after JL once stole a spokesperson from Blink.”

”Well, that’s really interesting.” Zhou Yun clicked her tongue twice, ”The tension between them is so thick.”

”Be careful with Lucia. Avoid taking photos with her or having too much public interaction. She’s allegedly made some anti-human, racially discriminatory remarks, though they were suppressed,” Song Chi cautioned, ”Once, an Indian actress publicly accused her of humiliating her during a JL audition, saying her appearance was too Indian and didn’t match European aesthetic standards. Although JL denied it, everyone says that it sounds like something Lucia would say.”

Zhou Yun clicked her tongue and said: ”She’s like that, huh.”

”Yeah.” Song Chi said, ”Anyway, when you’re abroad dealing with people, you have to be more cautious. A lot of issues are very sensitive.”

The two whispered during the luncheon.

People occasionally came over to greet and take pictures with them.

Zhou Yun and Song Chi were also discreetly observed by other attendees, who initially might not have recognized them, but recalled upon hearing their names.

Zhou Yun’s ”Life” was a regular feature in international professional cinema media selections at the end of last year, and Song Chi had directed several well-known films in the movie circle.

Such brand-hosted luncheons lack any privacy, it’s all about mingling.

After the luncheon, Zhou Yun and Song Chi were going back to the hotel to prepare for the evening’s red carpet and the opening ceremony.

In the meantime, they both had their own interviews to do.

Attending a film festival involves mostly giving interviews.

The whole world is watching you, wanting to know what’s happening with you.

Zhou Yun and Song Chi would not walk the red carpet together.

Zhou Yun was to join the ”Behind the Scenes” crew, while Song Chi would attend with the ”Un Certain Regard” jury members—of course, unable to walk, he had to use a wheelchair.

Zeng Lili and You Jiang had arrived at Cannes in the morning.

After returning to the hotel, Zhou Yun met with them.

”Teacher You, Sister Lili, we meet again!” Zhou Yun exclaimed joyously hugging them both, ”I’m so happy to see you!”

Her eyes were sparkling.

Zeng Lili touched Zhou Yun’s face and asked, ”Why are you so adorable?”

Zhou Yun smiled, tilting her head up, ”Where are Sister Luo Qi and Director Xue? I haven’t seen them yet.”

”I don’t know, Luo Qi told me she’d come to find me later,” Zeng Lili said, holding Zhou Yun’s hand with a bright smile, ”After shooting for so long, we finally made it to Cannes.”

Although Zeng Lili had acted in many films before, they rarely went international, so despite her exquisite acting skills, this was her first time at the Cannes Film Festival.

Zhou Yun was very happy.

”I’m very honored to be part of Sister Lili’s first time,” Zhou Yun proudly said.

Song Chi obviously knew Zeng Lili and You Jiang too.

Upon meeting, You Jiang joked, ”Every time I saw you before, I had to look up. Finally, it’s your turn to look up at me.”

Zeng Lili gave him a stern look, saying, ”Xiao Song is already in such a state, and you still joke like this!”

Song Chi chuckled, ”Sister Lili, didn’t I tell you that Teacher You is too much?”

Zeng Lili nodded, laughing, ”Such disrespect from an elder.”

You Jiang clicked his tongue and said, ”On the way here, I said you were one of my few good friends in this industry, and now it’s disrespect from an elder again, your face changes too quickly.”
