Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 709: Chapter 496: Arrival in Cannes

Inside the envelope was travel money prepared in advance by Zhou Lan to handle the media. At this moment, it’s crucial to minimize trouble, spending money to avert disaster.

Not just now, Zhou Lan thought, the following week would definitely be the peak of Zhou Yun’s popularity. Hence, managing the media well was important.

After getting the boarding pass and going through security, Zhou Yun entered the VIP lounge and saw Song Chi who was already there.

He was still sitting in a wheelchair, though he could actually walk with crutches now.

”Got blocked by the media outside?” Song Chi asked with a smile.

”Ah, not surprising at all.” Zhou Yun walked over to Song Chi, bent down, and kissed him.

Zheng Xiaojue pursed her lips behind them: ”Tsk tsk, eyes off if it’s not appropriate.”

Muttering ”eyes off if it’s not appropriate,” her eyes were wider than anyone else’s.

Zhou Lan tapped her on the back of her head and said, ”Getting more and more unruly.”

Zheng Xiaojue chuckled.

Zhou Yun sat down next to Song Chi and said, ”We have about a twenty-hour flight later, is your body okay?”

”The doctor said it’s okay, so no problem,” Song Chi smiled, ”It’s just that it might get boring as it’s a bit long.”

”Let’s watch a series together. I’ve downloaded a new TV show on my iPad,” Zhou Yun said. ”It has twelve episodes, each one hour and ten minutes. We’ll chat and rest a bit after watching it, and we’ll be there.”

”You’re not planning to sleep?” Song Chi asked in surprise.

”I’ll sleep if I feel sleepy,” Zhou Yun said. ”Sister Lan arranged a lot of work for me, the schedule is very tight.”

”It seems like the only time we can truly be together is on the plane,” Song Chi said.

Zhou Yun pursed his lips, making a pitiful face, and said, ”We are too pitiful.”

Song Chi laughed.

When lovers meet, it’s hard not to be mushy.

Zheng Xiaojue watched them with relish, suddenly noticing something odd about Zhou Lan. She wasn’t sure how to describe it, maybe it was a poignant sadness? The term often used during her school days in literature exams spontaneously popped into her mind.

A hint of what could be called ”inner pain” appeared on Zhou Lan’s face.

”Sister Lan,” Zheng Xiaojue leaned in and whispered, ”what’s wrong?”

Zhou Lan almost instantly hid the emotions that had slipped onto her face, asking, ”What?”

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”Your expression looked a bit strange.”

”Oh, I was just thinking about something, don’t bother me,” Zhou Lan deliberately looked annoyed.

She thought to herself, Zheng Xiaojue this mischievous girl is getting sharper.

Zheng Xiaojue uttered an ”Oh,” but she didn’t believe Zhou Lan.

She was certain that Zhou Lan was just inwardly distressed about something.

Indeed, Zheng Xiaojue wasn’t wrong. Zhou Lan had recently encountered some issues in her personal life. She and her previous photographer boyfriend had been together for a long time and thought it was the right time to define their relationship, but he was surprised and said that they had agreed from the beginning it was just a purely physical relationship, so why suddenly define it?

The two of them ended up severing contacts.

Zhou Lan would be lying if she said she wasn’t hurt, but she didn’t really want others to know about this situation. Such private matters, she hoped to keep to herself, forever a secret.

She took out her iPad, connected to WIFI, and started working on some tasks.

There was always unending work to be done.

”It’s a pity Wang Jing has a shoot and can only leave the day after tomorrow,” Zhou Lan said. ”Otherwise, she could have joined us.”

Zhou Yun said, ”I remember she had a variety show scheduled previously that she needed to record, right?”

”Yes,” Zhou Lan said. ”But it’s also good this way. Her fanbase is gradually growing. She really can show her true self on variety shows, with a likable personality attracting quite a few fans, unlike you.”

Zhou Yun was taken aback, ”What about me?”

”You can’t control your temper, not very approachable, appearing on variety shows might make you popular, but not necessarily liked as much as Wang Jing,” Zhou Lan said. ”Even though she currently doesn’t get to endorse high-end luxury brands, many affordable brands still favor her.”

Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”Actually, I think Wang Jing is quite suited to play the cute, youthful female characters.”

”Yuehai has a new campus youth growth-themed web drama in the works that is contacting her for the female lead role. I’m currently reviewing the script, and if it’s suitable, I plan to secure it for her,” Zhou Lan said.
