Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 707: Chapter 495: Setting Out for the Interview (2)

No one said she didn’t act well, but she felt her performance lacked energy.

Yao Yuanfeng was previously very excited, saying if ”Four Killers” did well at the box office, they’d develop a sequel, even turning it into a series. Zhou Yun thought to herself that she had no plans to be in a sequel.

Unless the movie’s box office was so good that it won the annual championship. If that were the case, disregard what she said; she’d shoot the film even if it meant drinking bitter gourd juice every day.

Sorry, she was a person without principles.

But could ”Four Killers” win the annual championship?

Zhou Yun didn’t hold that hope.

She guessed that the movie’s box office would probably be decent, not bad, but the movie market in recent years wasn’t dominated by action films anymore. The top three box-office hits each year were either comedies or war movies, and this kind of action film wasn’t a box-office juggernaut anymore.

Moreover, the story wasn’t so good that Zhou Yun really liked it.

If asked which part of ”Four Killers” Zhou Yun was satisfied with, she would point to the action scenes.

The action scenes in ”Four Killers” were done exceptionally well; Zhou Yun had a blast fighting, even if it was just routine moves.

When Zhou Yun’s dissatisfaction with ”Four Killers” had gradually accumulated to a peak, it was finally time for her to set off for Cannes.

It was Zhou Yun’s first time going to Cannes.

She and Song Chi had agreed to meet at the airport.

This time, Zhou Lan was joining them on the trip.

Zhou Lan met her at the hotel room.

”Victor” magazine’s editor was waiting for them in the hotel lobby, camera already rolling, awaiting Zhou Yun’s appearance.

Since work was starting right away, Zhou Yun wasn’t able to dress as comfortably as she wanted and had to change into an outfit prepared by the team.

”Hi, Xiao Yun, long time no see.”

The editor responsible for the filming and interview was still the same one from before, named Wan Lanlan.

”Sister Lanlan, long time no see.” Zhou Yun hugged Wan Lanlan, ”It’s so nice to see you. Your baby must be eight months old now, right?”

Wan Lanlan had a daughter, and Zhou Yun had sent the little girl a generous red envelope.

Wan Lanlan, who had become slightly plumper since giving birth, still looked beautiful, radiating a kind of affluence and beauty.

This kind of beauty was rarely seen on a fashion magazine editor. Previously, Wan Lanlan could strut in twelve-centimeter heels without so much as glancing to the side.

Wan Lanlan held Zhou Yun’s hand and said, ”Yes, you remembered.”

”Of course I do. I kept saying I wanted to visit the baby, but never found the chance,” Zhou Yun said. ”How’s the baby today?”

”My mom’s helping me take care of her,” Wan Lanlan responded. ”Luckily today’s job can be completed in just two hours. If I had to follow you to Cannes, we’d have had to change editors.”

Zhou Yun and Wan Lanlan got in the car together.

”However, I’m really happy for you that ’Behind the Scenes’ has been selected for Cannes. I remember at the outset, when the drama was first unveiled, everyone was quite pessimistic. If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t this film actually a spur-of-the-moment idea by Director Xue while shooting ’Falling Leaves’?” Wan Lanlan asked curiously.

Zhou Yun nodded, ”During the time we were shooting ’Falling Leaves,’ a young actor named Luo Zhiheng was injured when a chandelier suddenly fell. It was about to hit the director, but he pushed the director away and then took the blow himself, landing him in the hospital. Our crew had to stop production and faced the difficult problem of a standstill, and as you know, every day a film set is idle costs a lot of money. Director Xue was brilliant; in no time, he came up with the idea for ’Behind the Scenes,’ called a meeting with all of us, and everyone decided to go ahead and shoot it.”

Wan Lanlan’s eyes widened in surprise, ”The incident itself is quite cinematic.”

”Right, that’s what I think too,” Zhou Yun said with a smile. ”Looking back on it now, I feel it was quite a risk, and I can understand why everyone was so skeptical about the film at that time.”

”But now everyone says your vision was spot on,” Wan Lanlan stated. ”Both Wen Bing and Xue Qin are new directors who were making their movie debut, and among the new directors who have emerged and made a name for themselves over the past couple of years, these two have been handpicked by you. I’m particularly curious, how do you choose directors?”

Zhou Yun pondered for a moment then replied, ”Actually, to say that I pick directors isn’t really accurate. Both Wen Bing and Xue Qin were dissatisfied with me at first; it was they who picked me.”
