Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 708: Chapter 495: Setting Off for the Interview (3)

Wan Lanlan asked in surprise, ”Can they still be dissatisfied with you? My God, I can’t even imagine. Then who would they be satisfied with?”

Zhou Yun smiled and said, ”It’s not exactly like that. Everyone has their own preferences. Luckily, I’m quite fortunate that after many considerations, I was still their final choice, thus I got to be in ’Life’ and ’Behind the Scenes’. Looking back on it now, my decision to irrationally choose to act in ’Behind the Scenes’ was really just about one thing—setting aside all objective factors, am I interested in Xue Qin’s idea? Do I want to shoot it? The answer is yes, I’m interested, I want to shoot it. So, I felt like taking the risk was worth it, even if I failed, it wouldn’t matter.”

”You think like that, but most people can’t.” Wan Lanlan said, ”People still prefer to play it safe, especially back when your ’Life’ had already won awards. Playing it safe seemed like a more suitable approach.”

”I understand what you mean, that’s true, but I don’t always want to play it safe. I allow myself to take some risks each year.” Zhou Yun said, ”Always playing it safe would make me lose my passion and longing for filmmaking.”

”Being nominated for the main competition at Cannes Film Festival, did you have a special desire to win an award?”

”Oh, Sister Lanlan, if I say no, would you believe me?” Zhou Yun spread his hands helplessly and said, ”As you know, I’m not the type who truly has no desires or aspirations for awards. Yet, I try to maintain a calm mind. Happy if I win, disappointed if I don’t, I need to allow myself such emotional fluctuations, but I can’t let myself be continuously affected by the outcome, whether it’s good or bad.”

”You are very rational.”

”In this industry, staying rational in this regard is essential, or else it’s easy to become mentally unbalanced and extreme,” Zhou Yun said. ”Too many people are watching you, too many people are praising you. I always feel that when we are surrounded by many people, we need to pay even more attention to our inner stability and not be influenced by external factors.”

”It sounds like you’re very clear about what kind of person you want to be,” Wan Lanlan said. ”That’s very impressive. When I was your age, I only had rampant ambition but didn’t have a long-term plan about what I really wanted to do.”

”I don’t have a plan either,” Zhou Yun laughed. ”I prefer to take things as they come, focusing on the tasks at hand, but I shouldn’t sacrifice the enjoyment of life.”

Wan Lanlan asked, ”Do you think Song Chi is the same kind of person?”

”Song Chi?” Zhou Yun appeared somewhat surprised.

Wan Lanlan nodded and said, ”Because I’m quite curious about something. You and Song Chi have both achieved success and fame at a young age, typically people at that stage tend to be a bit arrogant, which everyone can understand, but both of you—how should I say it?”

”Both quite unconventional?” Zhou Yun joked.

Wan Lanlan laughed, ”If you’re willing to self-deprecate, I don’t mind. But you know what I mean, right? You both are too sober and restrained. From my point of view, isn’t it a bit too perfect?”

Zhou Yun pondered for a while and nodded, ”I think we have the problem you mentioned. We are actually not perfect, but though we don’t say it, we are still trying to portray a kind of perfection. Of course, I can honestly say that I don’t want to sculpt this perfection in front of the cameras; rather, I think I should strive for a more perfect state. But between me and Song Chi, it’s strange, actually. We often have a sort of dialogue that differs every time, but the underlying message is the same—Alright, don’t be so hard on yourself, you can loosen up a bit, no need to be so tired.”

Wan Lanlan said surprisingly, ”Do you two often suggest that to each other?”

”Yeah,” Zhou Yun smiled and nodded. ”We often spar like that.”

...

When they arrived at the airport, Wan Lanlan said, ”Even though I can’t be there, I will follow from here, hoping you bring home a Cannes Movie Queen award.”

Zhou Yun: ”Thank you, Sister Lanlan, I should get going now.”

”Sure,” Wan Lanlan nodded, ”Have a safe trip.”

Zhou Yun got out of the car.

It seems everyone had already received the news that she was departing for Cannes today, as numerous media reporters and fans were crouched at every entrance of the airport.

As soon as Zhou Yun appeared, everyone swarmed up to surround her.

”Zhou Yun, are you off to Cannes now?” a microphone was thrust forward by a reporter in the front.

Zheng Xiaojue and others also had to grab their luggage.

Cao Jun, along with a few other bodyguards who had arrived earlier, managed to block people from getting too close, while Zhou Lan protected Zhou Yun in front, smiling and saying, ”Sorry, folks, Xiao Yun is rushing for her flight, and we are on a tight schedule today, thank you all for coming.”

Zheng Xiaojue and Liu Yun quietly handed a stack of envelopes to the reporters nearby.
