I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 492: Chapter 491: Went to the Wrong Place?

More than half a month later, Beisitian began experiencing pregnancy symptoms. Her symptoms started relatively late; some people show symptoms just after forty days, which can be quite bothersome.

Beisitian had prepared in advance. She created three Xuan Talismans and drank them once every three days. Although it couldn’t completely eliminate the pregnancy symptoms, it could effectively reduce them.

So when Beisitian began reacting, she only dry-heaved in the mornings and showed fatigue during the day, with no other symptoms.

Besides, Beisitian started applying a scar-removing ointment on her lower abdomen, also crafted by herself, ensuring it wouldn’t affect the fetus.

This idea came to her after seeing Tian Qiu’s belly. It really looked quite ugly.

These are the preparations Beisitian planned for the first three months, as excessive nutrition isn’t needed yet. Professor Qiu told her that during the first three months, the child doesn’t absorb much nutrition from the mother’s body, so it’s crucial to monitor eating habits starting the fourth month when the child begins absorbing more nutrients.

However, both the first and last three months are risky phases, requiring caution in all activities, much like Mrs. Qin’s advice about not lifting heavy things; things stabilize more after three months since the embryo has just implanted and isn’t yet firmly settled.

Having a baby seemed to change Beisitian’s mindset, making her calmer and more serene.

Her daily routine included seeking wisdom by listening to child-rearing insights from Dong Fengzhen and Professor Qiu, laying the groundwork for future child-rearing.

Having never been a mother in her two lifetimes combined, she was avidly absorbing all sorts of pregnancy and childcare knowledge like a sponge.

This, to some extent, compensated for her shortcomings in this area, as firsthand experience offers more perspectives.

Wei Zhongyuan would come to assist Beisitian almost every evening during this period. Though assistance was minimal, having someone there made things easier.

Initially, Mrs. Qin was wary of him and Wei Zhongxun, fearing ulterior motives, but later realized they genuinely came just to help. Wei Zhongxun respectfully called Beisitian ”Master” and, despite always joking around, was evidently very respectful towards her.

Was he learning medicine under Little Tian’er?

Mrs. Qin felt at ease upon recognizing this. Doctor Bei had taught people in the village before, with Yang Wulang among them. Unfortunately, Yang Wulang showed no talent in traditional medicine and turned to study Western medicine.

Sometimes, Wei Zhongyuan, Wei Zhongxun, and Tian Zhi would gather for discussions.

Wei Zhongyuan was astounded to find their expertise remarkably high, given it hadn’t been long since they began discipleship, yet their progress was evident!

Wei Zhongyuan refrained from probing too much since the master-disciple legacy is crucial, and despite being brothers with Wei Zhongxun, he couldn’t arbitrarily investigate.

Beisitian observed all this, gaining an understanding of Wei Zhongyuan’s character, appreciating his integrity and boundaries.

Although she possessed the entire Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture mentally, after careful consideration, Beisitian decided against transcribing it. Those witnessing significant improvements from the scripture appeared to be the trio before her, prompting her to offer tailored guidance instead.

Indeed, Beisitian’s current expertise fully qualified her to mentor them.

On this day, Wei Zhongyuan was reading at the stone table in the courtyard, where he would usually sit when not busy.

Mrs. Qin could trust him as he knew to maintain appropriate boundaries, keeping interactions with Beisitian pertained only to inquiries and assistance, never isolating himself with her.

Upon hearing footsteps, Wei Zhongyuan knew it was Beisitian approaching. He stood up, turning back to look at her quietly, silently asking if there was anything she needed him to do.

Beisitian smiled and placed a piece of paper in front of him, saying, ”These are some insights I’ve compiled, tailored for you. You have ten minutes to memorize them.”

Wei Zhongyuan was drawn to the content immediately; it highlighted many of his inadequacies and answered plenty of his uncertainties.

Focused entirely on the paper, he limited his immersion in it out of respect for Beisitian’s request, aiming to imprint all its contents into his memory.

Once ten minutes elapsed, Beisitian used a match to set the paper aflame.

”You’re not my disciple, so my teaching you is an exception, hence I cannot leave any material in your possession,” Beisitian explained.

This rationale resonated strongly with Wei Zhongyuan. Grateful for Beisitian’s guidance and acknowledgment, he stood up and formally bowed in thanks.

Beisitian nodded silently, turning to head back indoors, leaving Wei Zhongyuan in the courtyard unable to focus on his texts, his mind brimming with the paper’s content, captivated by the elegant script yet jolted by its messages.

Indeed, the phrase ”jolted” seemed apt—each sentence held an extraordinary power, each revealing a fresh insight!

Feeling deeply stirred, Wei Zhongyuan sat back down, closed his eyes in the courtyard, and began contemplating the contents anew.

When Wei Zhongxun and Tian Zhi arrived, they found Wei Zhongyuan seated on the stone bench, eyes shut, unmoving.

Exchanging glances, they both spontaneously encircled him from opposite sides, scrutinizing him thoroughly.

”What’s Bro up to now, meditating?” Wei Zhongxun glanced at Tian Zhi.

Tian Zhi shrugged. ”He’s your brother; how would I know what he’s doing!”

Wei Zhongxun leaned in closer to Wei Zhongyuan, almost seeing the pores on his face, feeling somewhat disgusted, thinking it would be tolerable if he were a beauty, and quickly backed away.

Tian Zhi glared at Wei Zhongxun, deeming him unserious, wondering who was truly the senior between them, believing age was the only disadvantage!

Wei Zhongxun seemed aware of Tian Zhi’s discontent, shaking his fist at him—their discussions on seniority were no longer unfamiliar.

”Shall we wake him up?” Tian Zhi asked, folding his arms.

Wei Zhongxun rubbed his chin with thumb and forefinger, eyebrows slightly raised, evidently contemplating some mischief.

Tian Zhi hastily warned, ”You know your brother’s temper well. Don’t blame me if you’re chased down!”

Wei Zhongxun’s expression paused; evidently, history had proven his brother’s wrath, prompting an urge to swear, but then the door swung open.

A young woman walked in, seeing the three men in the courtyard, momentarily stunned, murmuring, ”Did I come to the wrong place?”
