I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 479: Chapter 478: Passing Away

”You shameless hussy, when did it become your turn to boss me around? If it weren’t for Qiangzi begging, I wouldn’t have let my son marry a wench like you! You shameless thing, think of how disgraceful you looked that day, I can’t even show my face in the village because of you!”

The overturned kang table hit Qin Hongmei and then slammed onto her foot. Luo Anguo’s sharp and acrid voice echoed in her ears, tearing open the deep-buried scar in Qin Hongmei’s heart, unleashing her internal rage completely.

Qin Hongmei let out a sharp scream, and fiercely threw the kang table back onto the bed, shouting, ”You old wretch, why don’t you just die!”

Coincidentally, the corner of the kang table struck Old Mrs. Luo’s chest and then flew towards Bai Jinfeng. Bai Jinfeng’s face turned pale in fright; she turned her back to the flying table in urgency, protecting the child in her arms tightly!

As for Old Mrs. Luo, she didn’t even utter a sound, instead, she fell backward, motionless.

The sudden change left everyone unprepared, including Luo Aiguo, who hadn’t reacted in time. When he did, he hurriedly scrambled onto the bed to check on Old Mrs. Luo.

Luo Aiguo climbed onto the bed and saw Old Mrs. Luo lying on her back, eyes wide open. When he checked her breath, she was already gone!

Luo Aiguo immediately slumped onto the kang, staring blankly at Old Mrs. Luo, his face pale, and tears streamed down. His throat seemed to choke with something, unable to speak. Although their mother wanted to abandon them, that was one feeling at the time, and her death was another sensation, especially since it was an unnatural death!

”Granny...” Luo Xuqing also climbed onto the bed, seeing this scene, he was terrified, his face was ghostly pale, not even attending to his wife, who was in immense pain nearby.

”My granny is dead...” Luo Xuqing muttered to himself.

Qin Hongmei, standing on the ground, was trembling, not from anger, but from fear. The sharp words from Old Mrs. Luo had pushed her buttons uncontrollably, who would have thought that a careless act would lead to her death!

”I didn’t mean it... I didn’t mean it... She started it first... It was she...” Qin Hongmei retreated, her back hitting the cabinet, and slowly sat on the ground.

Luo Aiguo, triggered by Luo Xuqing’s words, yelled suddenly, ”Mother!”

The shout startled the neighbors and also alarmed Luo Anguo and Mrs. Qin, who had just reached the door, planning to explain that they wouldn’t be going to the Capital City.

Upon hearing the shout, even the most insensitive could tell something happened; Luo Anguo and Mrs. Qin hurriedly rushed in, seeing Qin Hongmei collapsed on the ground, and Luo Aiguo sobbing on the bed.

Luo Anguo, not daring to ask, climbed onto the bed at once and saw Old Mrs. Luo’s wide-open eyes, realizing she had passed away.

Mrs. Qin could not have imagined such a scene. Although they lacked medical knowledge, knowing in their hearts that she was gone, they kept hoping there might still be some slim chance.

Therefore, Luo Anguo immediately sent Mrs. Qin to find Yang Wulang.

When Yang Wulang arrived, Old Mrs. Luo’s body had already begun to stiffen. He shook his head, sighing, and said, ”Quickly get her dressed, otherwise, after a while, the clothes won’t fit!”

If the body stiffens and the clothes cannot be put on, it can only be bent forcefully, potentially resulting in a broken limb. Because maintaining the clothes’ integrity is synonymous with maintaining the dignity at the time of departure, but this is also a disrespect to the deceased.

Luo Anguo’s hands trembled slightly, his face full of grief. Ignoring his sorrow, he called to his elder brother, and the two sons dressed Old Mrs. Luo together.

In such situations, the wife would be dressed by the closest people. Is there anyone closer than the two sons?

When leaving, Yang Wulang glanced at Qin Hongmei, who was still sitting on the ground in a daze, shook his head silently. If it wasn’t for having such a daughter-in-law, the Luo family wouldn’t be in such a mess. Likewise, this was the sin Old Mrs. Luo brought upon herself.

Back then, the eldest married a virtuous wife, yet teamed up with Qin Hongmei to anger her to death. Now that her son has achieved success and refuses to return, even the one she pulled into the family ended up causing her death with a strike, this was karma!

Yang Wulang knew all about the Luo family’s affairs. Who in the village didn’t? When Luo Er’s family faced hardships, with one blinded and one paralyzed, they immediately severed ties, even the mother shared the same attitude.

Now that the son and daughter-in-law have prospered, settling down in the Capital City, planning to bring the elderly there to enjoy life, this family shamelessly clung on, threatening to follow—or die. But look at what happened, an internal strife led to a death!

Yang Wulang did not pity Old Mrs. Luo at all, let alone Qin Hongmei. When it came to them, there were only two words—deserved!

Beisitian received a call around eight in the evening, while she and Luo Xudong were at home discussing matters regarding Bei Jiale and Beidewang.

Luo Xudong had uncovered some clues, which might lead to something.

When Beisitian took the call, she was stunned. Hearing Mrs. Qin’s words, she simply didn’t know what to say.

”Grandma has passed away, we have to go back,” Beisitian said.

After listening to Beisitian’s brief account, Luo Xudong had little emotional reaction. He felt hardly anything for Old Mrs. Luo and Qin Hongmei.

The two of them asked for leave from their respective units to drive back home, planning to bring Luo Anguo and Luo Xuping back directly this time.

The journey was long, with limited time and energy, so they decided to drive back.

Some highways were under construction, and without a direct route, they had to take many detours to reach Kao Village. It was all up to Luo Xudong to drive, stopping occasionally. They didn’t arrive until the early morning of the third day.

With some time left, Luo Xudong went to sleep for a while in the west wing, while Beisitian sat in the east room listening to Mrs. Qin recounting the events of the past couple of days.

The local custom required wearing mourning clothes. As the granddaughter-in-law, Beisitian also had to don the white linen mourning outfit, although the flag-bearing was for Luo Aiguo or Luo Xuhua. The eldest son, the oldest grandson—since the eldest grandson was absent, it had to be Luo Aiguo.

Luo Aiguo informed Luo Xuhua, but Luo Xuhua made excuses not to return. If it hadn’t been for Old Mrs. Luo’s indulgence, Luo Xuhua wouldn’t have had to escape from Kao Village for survival; how could he possibly come back now to wear mourning clothes and see his grandmother off?

A tent was set up on the street, with the coffin placed inside, as they still had to pay respects during the day. At night, Luo Aiguo guarded the tent and insisted that Luo Anguo not do it, refusing to leave despite Luo Anguo being there.

If it weren’t for Qin Hongmei, Old Mrs. Luo wouldn’t have died an unnatural death at home!

Luo Aiguo was filled with shame, using this method to alleviate some of the guilt.
