I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 472: Chapter 471: The Impossible Man

Luo Xudong heard Beisitian’s exclamation, suppressed his anger, got out of the car, and came to the person in front of him. The person’s face was covered in dirt, but his general appearance could still be distinguished as a man, about forty years old.

Luo Xudong saw the crowd around them gradually growing, and the cars behind them being blocked, so he inquired softly for a while, but the person just sat there blankly, not responding at all.

Luo Xudong’s eyes flickered slightly. Instead of speaking softly, he raised his voice and said, ”I’ll take you to the hospital first.” With that, he stepped forward, lifted the man’s arm, and dragged him into the car. He glanced at Beisitian, who still wore a horrified expression; he had never seen her like this before!

Many people around had seen it. It was this person who suddenly rushed out, the military vehicle didn’t hit him, and they even took him to the hospital. It’s really commendable for soldiers!

Luo Xudong didn’t actually head to the hospital; he made a turn and drove the car straight back to his small courtyard.

On the way, Beisitian had already regained her composure, and together with Luo Xudong, they brought the man inside and locked the door tightly.

Luo Xudong didn’t take the man to the north room; instead, he took him to the east wing. The man hadn’t said a single word from start to finish, his face blank, eyes vacant, unable to focus. Luo Xudong knew that this was most likely due to severe head trauma.

”Do you know him?” Luo Xudong asked the heavily complexioned Beisitian.

Beisitian was silent for a while before saying, ”I do.”

”Who is he?”

”My father... Beidewang.”

Luo Xudong almost thought he had misheard, but seeing the expression on Beisitian’s face, he knew it was true. However, wasn’t her father supposed to have died when she was just a few years old!

Beisitian also wanted to ask, why did someone who was supposed to be dead suddenly appear here without any warning?!

Coincidence?

Beisitian didn’t believe it; she always felt that an invisible net was slowly enclosing around her.

Though Beisitian could handle nursing work, broader care still required professionals. Luo Xudong found two professional male nurses, people who knew what to say and what not to say.

After over two hours of thorough cleaning and examination, Beidewang’s original appearance was restored. His hair was gray, with more white than black, and his face was wrinkled and dark, devoid of any luster. At the age of forty, he already looked aged, like someone in their sixties.

Even if Beidewang hadn’t died back then, why had he fallen to this state, why did he suddenly appear in this place, and why hadn’t he gone back to find his original life?

There were many questions, yet Beidewang was in a very abnormal state now.

Beisitian didn’t need much inspection to know that his brain was damaged, severely affecting his mind and memory.

The current Beidewang was like a fool, unable to recognize anyone!

Looking at the vacant, hollow-eyed Beidewang before them, Beisitian and Luo Xudong were left speechless. How did things end up like this?

”Do you have a way to treat him?” Luo Xudong asked.

Beisitian didn’t respond immediately; the brain was too complex. Even the Mystic Doctor didn’t have complete confidence, let alone knowing how Beidewang’s brain was injured, making treatment very difficult.

But no matter how difficult, Beisitian had to treat him; there was no other choice. If Beidewang could regain his mind, then she would know exactly who Bei Jiale is.

In other words, the answers to this entire series of events would be revealed.

So, although Gu Ran didn’t have complete confidence, Beisitian was determined to treat Beidewang.

”Except for the old chief, don’t mention this to anyone,” Luo Xudong said.

Beisitian nodded. Aside from Luo Xudong and the old man, she couldn’t fully trust anyone, not even Tian Heming.

To avoid suspicion, Beisitian continued to go to work as usual, maintaining a normal appearance, though her mind was filled with thoughts.

A person like Beidewang, who had supposedly been dead for over a decade, suddenly appearing before her, if it wasn’t arranged, she really didn’t believe it. But to what extent was this arrangement? Did it include all her information, or just a part of it?

Most importantly, what was the intention behind bringing a ’dead’ person close to her after so many years?

Did Beidewang know of Bei Jiale’s existence, did he know there was someone who looked so much like his daughter?

With Beidewang’s appearance, more and more questions emerged in Beisitian’s mind, a tangled mess she couldn’t find any lead from.

One day, while Beisitian was pondering these matters, Ma Sanqiang came. He was still the same, leaning on a crutch, walking with a stagger that made people passing by feel like he’d fall with a touch.

However, this time Ma Sanqiang didn’t have his usual sorrowful face. Instead, he was smiling as he came to Consultation Room 1, exclaiming as he entered, ”Brother Qin, it worked, it worked! Quickly introduce me properly to this young doctor; I must thank her properly!”

This time, the effectiveness was different from before. In the past, drinking the medicine always took a while to have an effect, and it had to be taken in advance before the rainy season to be effective, but predicting the rain was impossible even for the heavens, relying on weather predictions was just a joke.

Ma Sanqiang drank it during these overcast days, and during the pain—unexpectedly, he drank it one noon, and by midnight the pain was gone, allowing him to sleep well. The next day, Ma Sanqiang continued taking it, and remarkably, the pain never came back.

Qin Fengwang praised repeatedly, deeply admiring it. Ancient prescriptions truly have different efficacy!

But Beisitian laughed, ”Don’t be too happy just yet, I added some pain relief to the first prescription, which is why it worked so fast. You’ll need to go through at least three courses of treatment for it to be effective, with each course spanning seven days.”

Pain relief here also refers to herbal pain relief, different from painkillers, with much smaller side effects.

Ma Sanqiang didn’t understand this; the prescriptions Qin Fengwang had given him before also had pain relief, but weren’t nearly as effective.

”Doctor Bei, can you add the pain relief for me this time too?” Ma Sanqiang asked proactively.

Having experienced what it’s like not to be in pain, he really didn’t want to feel it again.

”I don’t plan to add it for you; the effectiveness of each medicine needs you to record it yourself. If I add painkillers, you won’t feel the effects of the medicine, and any such medicine will have certain side effects on the body.”

Ma Sanqiang felt a bit regretful; he really wanted Beisitian to add it again, but the girl was right. Constantly taking pain-relieving medicine could eventually be no different from taking tablets.

Beisitian gave Ma Sanqiang another prescription, listening to Ma Sanqiang mutter as she wrote, ”During the anti-Japanese period, I also encountered doctors as skilled as Doctor Bei. They were with the army, and the effects of their medicine were astounding. It looked like a cup of clear water, but after drinking it, the pain would lessen, and wounds would heal remarkably fast!”
