I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 490: Chapter 489: A New Idea

Beisitian could temporarily calm down and focus on her pregnancy, but she needed to stay vigilant, as Beidewang’s appearance before her was not for no reason.

Beidewang’s medicine was about to run out, and Beisitian had to continue administering it to him. Although it would take quite a long time, maybe one or two years, there would surely be effects, which Beisitian could wait for.

However, her unexpected pregnancy might severely affect her spirit.

”Doctor Bei, I can stay by your side and help.”

Wei Zhongyuan came to the small courtyard with Wei Zhongxun that day.

He had been traveling for some time, though it was more about experiencing various local customs and wandering through mountain villages. After all, things were different now; practicing medicine without a license could lead to detention.

Wei Zhongyuan did have some gains, but unfortunately, he hadn’t broken through the final hurdle.

He had just celebrated his thirty-second birthday, and his family was considering his lifelong commitment. However, he wasn’t very enthusiastic about it. Women were troublesome creatures, and once married, how could he focus on overcoming this final barrier?

The Wei Family allowed him to remain single until the age of thirty-two due to this reason. But if he got any older, even as a direct family member, it would be hard to find a wife. Those of a similar age are already mothers, and even those younger have become mothers. Should he look for someone ten years younger?

Wei Zhongyuan was indeed at a frustrating impasse. Should he break through, it could happen overnight; but if not, who knows how long it would take. He could wait, but the Wei Family couldn’t—they needed him to carry on their name.

Wei Zhongyuan felt quite helpless. Just then, he heard that Beisitian needed help, so he volunteered to come to the small courtyard, also to repay her for originally enlightening him.

Wei Zhongyuan basically reported in every day. His main aim was to see more patients and accumulate medical experience. His spirit needed nurturing too. If he hadn’t lacked medical experience, he would have succeeded in crafting the Spiritual Talisman before turning thirty!

As for Tian Zhi, he was always steady, progressing step by step, laying a solid foundation, and regularly listening to Beisitian’s discourse on her cases. While he couldn’t consider them his experience, it was still beneficial to listen.

Moreover, Tian Zhi enjoyed hearing Beisitian discuss these matters. Behind every case was a narrative, a tale of patient and doctor, which he found enthralling each time.

Yet these stories seemed odd, almost ancient, filled with worries and taboos that he couldn’t quite comprehend.

Tian Zhi wasn’t too busy with his studies yet, so knowing Beisitian’s current state, he would come by after school to see if he could lend a hand.

In the afternoon, Beisitian went to the hospital to visit Tian Qiu.

She was still greeted by Professor Qiu, who was infinitely curious about the young and excellent Doctor Bei.

”Don’t worry, everything is fine. All that needs to be done is to discharge the clotted blood,” said Professor Qiu.

Beisitian understood after Professor Qiu’s explanation.

In natural childbirth, the uterus itself contracts to expel the child, a very painful process, especially for the first child, which could take several hours of agony.

A cesarean section involves extracting the child first, then pressing on the uterus to induce artificial contractions to expel clotted blood, which is also very painful.

Though it’s not consistent pressing, it takes several days to fully expel the blood. The uterus has been stretched by the fetus and the surgical wounds add to the pain!

Ultimately, whether it hurts before or after, childbirth is painful. Many advocate for natural birth, perceiving it as destiny’s course. Scientifically, it’s believed that the fetus’s bones strengthen through the regulated compression of natural childbirth.

While that’s the claim, many children born by cesarean are healthy and intelligent, so it also depends on the individual, not absolute.

Tian Qiu looked weak, having undergone childbirth and surgery. Without proper confinement postpartum, she would certainly weaken.

Tian Qiu slept a lot in recent days and has improved on the third day, mostly sleeping through the first two days.

”Today you can try getting out of bed and walking with your husband’s support, or else you risk adhesion of the intestines and uterus lining, which wouldn’t aid the wound’s healing,” said Professor Qiu.

Tian Qiu nodded, the wound on her abdomen still aching, making sleep uneasy once the anesthesia faded. Though not the worst pain, her uterus hadn’t shrunk entirely, she felt it distended and throbbing painfully inside.

Tian Qiu slowly sat up, feeling sharp pain in her lower abdomen, her face turning pale.

Beisitian handed Tian Qiu a plaster, saying, ”Apply this on the wound, it can relieve pain without any side effects.”

The plaster was crafted earlier in Kao Village, for Luo Xuping, and Mrs. Qin kept it well. Seeing it yesterday, Beisitian thought it perfect for Tian Qiu’s use.

Tian Qiu nodded, readily applying it to the grim centipede-like wound.

Professor Qiu opened his mouth, questioning if the plaster directly on the wound was alright. Though pain-relieving, it contained other ingredients not necessarily for external wounds!

Seeing Professor Qiu’s expression, Beisitian smiled, ”Rest assured, Professor Qiu, this plaster is specialized for external wounds; it not only relieves pain but also promotes new flesh growth, and can fade scars using it continuously.”

Hearing it could fade scars, Tian Qiu was thrilled. Since giving birth, she fretted over the unsightly large scar on her abdomen.

While not visible, seeing it during bathing was unsettling.

Fading scars would indeed be wonderful.

”Can it fade stretch marks?” Tian Qiu asked.

”Not quite,” replied Beisitian, suddenly realizing she could develop a cream for scars and stretch marks to promote through Shenghua Group, thus serving women and fulfilling her promise to Luo Xuhua.

Being a Shenghua Group shareholder for so long, she hadn’t yet contributed a formula to the medicated cosmetics or culinary section.

Luo Xuhua never complained, but Shao Simin had made some remarks.
