I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 456: Chapter 455: Don’t Be Fooled by Her

The man called out ”Doctor Bei,” and Beisitian turned around, surprised to see it was Ma Tianlai!

Beisitian was astonished to see Ma Tianlai here and asked, ”How did you know I was here?”

Ma Tianlai walked in cheerfully, ”I asked the old man. How come you didn’t give me a heads up when you returned to Beijing? If I hadn’t visited the old man, I wouldn’t have known you were back.”

Ma Tianlai spoke very fluent Mandarin, but no matter how fluent, it still carried that Hong Kong accent. Qin Fengwang couldn’t help but glance at him, with a trace of curiosity in his eyes, probably because Ma Tianlai, a man in his forties, was using respectful terms toward Beisitian.

”There’s nothing to deliberately say about it,” Beisitian said with a slight smile.

Ma Tianlai sighed inwardly; Beisitian simply didn’t see him as someone worth befriending. He thought about how many people scrambled to know and flatter him, but when it came to Beisitian, it was the other way around, and she didn’t even take it seriously.

Thinking about this, Ma Tianlai wasn’t discouraged. In this world, which person with great skills doesn’t have a bit of a proud nature? In his lifetime, being able to meet such a hidden master among the common folk was something to be thankful for. It depended on whether he could seize this opportunity.

”What are you doing here?” Beisitian asked.

Ma Tianlai laughed and said, ”I finished the medicine from last time a long time ago. Doctor Bei, could you prescribe me some more?”

”No need, you’re basically recovered,” Beisitian replied.

”Doctor Bei, please prescribe me some more. My health was originally good, but after all this hassle, I often feel very tired,” Ma Tianlai pleaded.

Actually, getting more medicine was secondary; meeting Beisitian again was the main goal. He wanted to let her know about his affairs in Beijing, and maybe he would be in Beijing for a long time.

Beisitian was speechless and said calmly, ”If you rest regularly, you wouldn’t feel so tired.”

Ma Tianlai chuckled awkwardly, afraid of annoying Beisitian, so he had to give up. He thought that he would ask for some talismanic water next time, even though it was tasteless. The effect was particularly noticeable, as if it became addictive.

”How’s your son doing?” Beisitian asked.

Upon hearing Beisitian still concerned about his son, Ma Tianlai’s spirits lifted. ”He’s doing well, but he’s too skinny, his foundation is a bit weak...”

All in all, he still wanted some talismanic water.

Beisitian didn’t refuse this time; her Xuan Talismans were made for amusement, and she knew Ma Tianlai’s son’s condition well.

Ma Tianlai was an older father, so his physical condition was far worse than a young person’s. Naturally, the child’s body was also greatly affected, and a series of turmoil made the condition worse.

”Here’s the prescription, go pay for the medicine, and come back and I’ll prepare it for you,” Beisitian said.

Ma Tianlai took the prescription without a word and went to get the medicine. Although Beisitian didn’t mention charging separately for preparing the medicine, he had the previous experience, so he didn’t need to be told again.

As Ma Tianlai was leaving, he happened to see a woman walking into Consulting Room 1. The woman had a sharp and hostile look, naturally unpleasant to the eye. As a businessman, Ma Tianlai was sensitive to first impressions.

Liu Jing entered Consulting Room 1, frowned, and glanced at Beisitian. She was still late to hear what Beisitian and that man were talking about. If Beisitian was still preparing medicine for the patient like before, she would definitely expose it on the spot!

Since she was a step late, Liu Jing couldn’t say anything. Knowing that the man went to get the medicine, she simply stayed in Consulting Room 1 to wait.

Qin Fengwang frowned at this; what was wrong with Liu Jing? He never noticed her being like this before. How come she was so petty with a young person now? The point was, the young person hadn’t even provoked her!

Having lived to such an age, Qin Fengwang could see through everything. Liu Jing didn’t show this behavior before because no one had ever denied her like Beisitian. Now, with such a person appearing, Liu Jing seemed agitated.

Beisitian didn’t even look at Liu Jing; she just let her cause trouble. At this point, merely retaliating with words wouldn’t satisfy her heart, so she stayed silent.

After a short while, Ma Tianlai returned with several big bags of medicinal herbs. The prescription Beisitian gave him was all herbal medicine, not patent medicine.

”Doctor Bei, look, it’s all here,” Ma Tianlai said cheerfully. Whether he drank talismanic water or not was secondary. The important thing was to secure one for his son, even if he had to thicken his skin; it was worth it since Beisitian wasn’t ordinary.

”Just leave it here; I don’t have time for the next two days. The earliest I can give it to you is next week,” Beisitian said.

In the coming days, she needed to start preparing special Xuan Talismans for her two apprentices. The spirit consumed would take at least two or three days to recover.

”No problem, no problem, I’m not in a hurry,” Ma Tianlai hurriedly expressed.

At this point, Liu Jing suddenly stood up, slightly tilting her chin at Ma Tianlai, ”You, from your accent, should be from Hong Kong. Don’t be deceived by her. You’re an overseas Chinese; we can’t be dishonest with you. It’s best to brew the medicine you bought yourself so the quantity will be enough!”

She spoke up to this point, and if the person wasn’t a fool, they’d surely understand.

Ma Tianlai stared blankly at Liu Jing; where did this scatterbrained woman come from?

”You don’t have to be so shocked; we’re investigating this matter. To ensure fairness to patients’ rights, we’ve started monitoring her, rest assured!” Liu Jing almost patted her chest to guarantee.

Ma Tianlai finally understood. This scatterbrained lady must have had her head pinched by a door, talking nonsense. Did she mean that Doctor Bei would privately pocket his medicine?

It sounded like a fairy tale to him, but he quickly realized that Doctor Bei was right here. If her words caused a scene, and Doctor Bei got annoyed and took it out on him, the precious talisman water he struggled to get for his son would be in vain. Who would he get to compensate?

Thinking of this, Ma Tianlai suddenly felt anxious and said urgently, ”Go away, what nonsense are you spouting? I’m here to seek medicine from Doctor Bei. What do you mean by brewing my own medicine? If the medicine isn’t prepared by Doctor Bei, how could I even take it!”

If not prepared by Doctor Bei, how could I even take it...

Qin Fengwang showed a slightly surprised expression; what did that mean?

Liu Jing didn’t expect Ma Tianlai to be so deeply influenced and anxiously said, ”Don’t be ungrateful, I’m doing this for your own good!”

Ma Tianlai’s face turned gloomy; her blatant disrespect toward Beisitian made him very displeased. He was eager to curry favor with her, and yet someone dared to be so sarcastic and randomly accuse her in his presence!

”Who is the person in charge of this consulting room? I want to file a complaint against this absurd woman!” Ma Tianlai didn’t want to waste words. Afraid that saying too much would annoy Beisitian, he decided to directly report to the manager and let them handle this matter.

However, Ma Tianlai miscalculated. There’s no such thing as a complaint domestically, and when he mentioned these two words, Liu Jing had absolutely no reaction.
