I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 460: Chapter 459: Preparations

This time, Beisitian didn’t make a talisman for Jiang Yanmei, not because of Liu Jing, but because she had to make Mystic Talismans for two apprentices in the last couple of days, which consumed a lot of spirit, so everything had to be postponed.

Another reason was that Jiang Yanmei had a very good effect after drinking the talismanic water for the first time. Beisitian could prescribe some Chinese medicine for continuous conditioning. Actually, given Jiang Yanmei’s current condition, it wouldn’t matter if she stopped drinking the talismanic water. As long as the Chinese medicine was effective, a few more doses would suffice.

The effect of the talismanic water, although not otherworldly, was definitely superior to all methods. In this regard, it was incomparable with either traditional or modern medicine, but God is fair and the conditions for choosing the inheritance are extremely strict, so even in the prosperous age of Mystic Doctors, it wasn’t something that could be seen casually.

For Jiang Yanmei’s issue, it wasn’t really a big problem; she was just more severe compared to most people, making it hard to manage. Without the repelling charm phenomenon, most could be cured with medicine!

Jiang Yanmei initially thought Beisitian still had reservations and almost went to Liu Jing to argue again. She used to think Liu Jing was a bit gloomy and less talkative, but never imagined she was such an intolerant person. Just because Doctor Bei came later than her, was younger than her, and more skilled, she slandered and doubted Doctor Bei like this. Her character is truly lacking!

Later, Beisitian explained the reason to her, telling her that as long as she followed her instructions, she wouldn’t experience extreme negative emotions again. As for the occasional arguments between the couple, who doesn’t have those in any normal marriage?

Jiang Yanmei nodded repeatedly. Now she had full faith in Beisitian’s words, especially seeing Ma Tianlai, a Chinese expatriate, carrying seven or eight bags of Chinese medicine waiting for Doctor Bei to prescribe medication, made her feel even luckier.

Jiang Yanmei took the prescription Beisitian gave her and happily went to get her medicine. Doctor Bei had already explained how to prepare it. After taking this prescription, Doctor Bei said they’d assess her condition, and if it’s good, one more dose should suffice.

Finally seeing hope for improvement from the illness that tormented her for so long, Jiang Yanmei felt joy in her heart, and her smile was more genuine than ever before—it was a truly happy smile.

After Jiang Yanmei left, Ma Tianlai chatted briefly with Beisitian, informing her that he would stay in Beijing temporarily before leaving.

Han Zhengyi didn’t stay long either, nor did he express much to Beisitian—just some typical managerial praise and encouragement to employees before leaving.

Zhou Wenwen secretly sneered, thinking if she had the skills and yet was being squeezed by people like this, only getting such formalities in return, it’d be so unsettling!

But luckily, it wasn’t her situation. Zhou Wenwen felt a bit relieved and planned to say something comforting later. Although she quite liked Beisitian due to her handling of Liu Jing, they only knew each other for a week, so there wasn’t much emotional depth to speak of!

As for Han Zhengyi’s actions, Beisitian felt relieved; she didn’t want to become the focus of everyone’s attention. If overly praised due to this incident, could those who had been working here for decades truly remain indifferent?

People are like that. If Beisitian had been working here for a long time—not necessarily decades or a decade, but just two or three years—even if she was praised for her effort and ability, even if relations were good, there would inevitably be some jealousy, though without discontent.

Like now, it was bound to provoke dissatisfaction. Not healing two or three people could earn others’ recognition; even if Beisitian didn’t care about outside approval, she didn’t want unnecessary trouble because of Han Zhengyi’s focus.

She’s not afraid of trouble, but finds it bothersome.

Due to her unique methods, most in the traditional medicine clinic were undoubtedly curious, but fortunately, she’d set the groundwork early. Otherwise, people would definitely be hounding her for answers now.

She could tell that even Qin Fengwang was very curious.

After this incident, Liu Jing became quiet, spending these days sticking to her clinic, stepping out only for meals at the cafeteria and bathroom breaks, while trying to leverage connections to transfer jobs.

Liu Jing treated Beisitian as if she were invisible, behaving as if she didn’t exist. Regardless, soon she wouldn’t be staying here, nor did she have the face to remain. After this incident, almost everyone in the traditional medicine clinic seemed to have an opinion about her.

Liu Jing knew that while people didn’t say it out loud, they never really liked her, but so what? Meeting frequently meant there was always something to say, and keeping up appearances was enough—that was before this incident.

Liu Jing extremely disliked Beisitian, but what could she do about it?

Beisitian couldn’t be bothered with Liu Jing and hadn’t paid her any mind from the start. This incident was over, and since Liu Jing dared not do anything against her, she decided not to dwell on it.

These past few days, Beisitian’s spirit wasn’t great. Qin Fengwang noticed and frowned, ”Haven’t been sleeping well these days?”

Beisitian smiled, ”Some things are quite draining.”

Qin Fengwang understood; no wonder she seemed so listless, and her gaze occasionally drifted, ”If you’re too tired, you can take a day off to rest at home.”

”It’s nothing, just personal matters,” Beisitian said.

Today was Thursday, and the apprenticeship ceremony was set for Sunday, which coincided with her rest day, unlike others who didn’t have this concern.

The special Mystic Talisman had already been made, so she needed these days to recuperate well.

This type of Mystic Talisman was made by consuming her own Source Essence Qi Spirit, combined with some excellent herbs provided by each of the two families. It’s extremely powerful for Mystic Doctors, exhausting even more spirit than when she first cured Wu Yuekai.

However, her spirit was more abundant now, several times more so than then, so after making two Mystic Talismans, she didn’t faint and sleep a day and a night like before.

With the leftover herbs, Beisitian made some spirit-restoring Mystic Talismans for herself. Drinking them for two days finally revitalized her, and her eyes regained much of their sparkle.

Luo Xudong hadn’t been around these days. He was at the new military unit, having recently taken the post of a new company commander and having been awarded a first-class merit. The troops under him were eager to pick faults, not very compliant, with many even discussing how he achieved that first-class merit.

Being a new leader, establishing authority often involved more direct challenges in the military. Luo Xudong had to put in several times the usual effort in a short period to manage these subordinates effectively.

Thus, he might not be able to attend the apprenticeship ceremony on Sunday.

Beisitian understood this, as differences in profession and environment called for mutual understanding.

These days, Tian Qingyun and Su Lan frequently visited Beisitian’s small courtyard. As Beisitian was very fatigued and low-spirited, they helped her with many tasks.
