I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 488: Chapter 487: The Telephone Receiver Cracked

When Weng Yong’an just found out that both the adult and the child were fine, the big man shed tears in the corridor, and later he even gave Beisitian a deep bow!

With Weng Yong’an handling the aftermath, and since Tian Qiu and the child were both fine, Beisitian was ready to go back. She didn’t know why, but she felt a bit tired today.

Although there was no Spiritual Talisman cast today, she had been tense the whole time. She had watched the entire surgery process, and considering the current medical level, the chances of failure would multiply if any unexpected situations occurred.

This was why she didn’t dare to relax, but it wasn’t the reason she felt exhausted.

Beisitian accompanied Dong Fengzhen to the Tian Family; she actually wanted to return to the small courtyard to rest, but Dong Fengzhen wouldn’t let her leave, saying she had something to ask, so she had no choice but to go along.

Dong Fengzhen brought Beisitian to the North House. The hall was now left with just the two of them, and Dong Fengzhen smiled as she gave Beisitian an appraising look.

Beisitian initially thought she was going to ask about how to treat the baby, but to her surprise, she entered and stared at her intensely, prompting her to ask, ”Grandma, is there something wrong with me?”

”Do you feel anything yourself?” Dong Fengzhen asked.

As the saying goes, doctors cannot heal themselves; I wonder if Mystic Doctors are the same.

Beisitian shook her head, ”I just feel tired, and nothing else.”

Dong Fengzhen nodded knowingly, it was indeed the same, because the condition wasn’t obvious yet. Professor Qiu had decades of experience in this field and had recognized it at a glance, whereas she herself wouldn’t have been so sure.

”Beibei, you’re pregnant.” Dong Fengzhen said with a gentle smile.

Beisitian was stunned, instinctively placing a hand over her abdomen. She naturally hadn’t noticed anything herself, as not everyone develops pregnancy spots, and she hadn’t experienced any pregnancy symptoms yet. She wouldn’t inexplicably check her own pulse and naturally wouldn’t notice.

The main reason was she hadn’t thought in that direction at all.

After gently touching her abdomen, Beisitian thought to confirm by feeling her own pulse. Just as doctors cannot heal themselves, Mystic Doctors are the same; sometimes, their self-diagnosis might be mistaken, leading to errors in judgment and treatment.

Besides, most doctors, especially traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, engage in long-term self-care, which pervades every detail of their lives. Consequently, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners generally live longer.

Beisitian felt her pulse; it was indeed a pregnancy pulse, though still weak, likely because it was early days.

”Beibei, you need to be careful now. You’re not alone anymore, so don’t overwork yourself.” Dong Fengzhen advised, ”Your mastery of health preservation far exceeds mine, so I won’t remind you much. However, pregnancy is your first experience. If there’s anything you don’t understand, ask me right away.”

Beisitian nodded, still somewhat unable to regain her composure, filled with an indescribable feeling.

Inside her abdomen, a little life was now forming, a small life of hers and Luo Xudong’s!

Dong Fengzhen arranged for someone to drive Beisitian back, and she sat quietly on the sofa in the living room, lost in thought.

At this time, Mrs. Qin came over. She was idle over there, and hearing the noise, she knew Beisitian was back, so she came over for a chat.

”What are you doing, sitting here daydreaming?” Mrs. Qin sat down and said with a smile, ”I plan to buy some vegetable seeds. I’ve already decided what to plant in the plots you’ve dug out for me. I reckon, planting will not only keep it tidy but also maintain its aesthetics.”

As Mrs. Qin was speaking, she noticed Beisitian seemed distracted, knowing she had something on her mind, thought for a moment, and still asked, ”Little Tian’er, is something wrong?”

Only then did Beisitian come back to her senses, smiling as she replied, ”Mom, it’s nothing, just...”

”Just what?” Mrs. Qin, knowing she usually couldn’t help with their matters, thought it would be better to know so as not to inadvertently cause trouble.

”I’m pregnant.” Beisitian said with a gentle smile on her lips.

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Qin froze entirely, then suddenly stood up, overjoyed. They had long hoped for a grandchild, but knowing both Beisitian and Luo Xudong were busy, they hadn’t wanted to urge or pressure them, so they never said anything.

Now, hearing the good news suddenly, Mrs. Qin didn’t know what to do, unable to sit still, pacing around Beisitian, unsure of what to do. After a while, she remembered, ”I should tell your father first!”

Such great news had to be immediately shared with Luo Anguo!

It wasn’t long before Luo Anguo and Mrs. Qin came over together. Luo Anguo wore a smile, looking at Beisitian, unsure what else to say.

Mrs. Qin had been staying here for two weeks; she was familiar with where everything was placed. So starting today, she decided to come over at six-thirty in the morning to make breakfast for Beisitian, return after she went to work, and prepare dinner for them to enjoy together!

Seeing the two behaving like this, Beisitian felt both amused and helpless, saying, ”Mom, I can make breakfast myself; it’s not necessary.”

Mrs. Qin shook her head, ”I finally found something I can do to help, and you won’t let me!” Her tone held a hint of grievance.

Beisitian felt a headache coming on, ”It’s not that, Mom...”

”If not, then just stay put. If you need something, call me; I’ll be around when you’re here.” Mrs. Qin said happily.

With a wry smile, Beisitian couldn’t say much else; there were some things within her capability she should do herself, and being pregnant didn’t mean she should just sit around, as it wasn’t good for the baby either.

Luckily, with the advent of cesarean section technology, there was no longer a worry about difficult labor!

Such a joyous event couldn’t wait for Luo Xudong’s return; Luo Anguo decided to call him right away.

Upon hearing the phone’s contents, Luo Xudong’s grip on the receiver tightened, his heart skipped a beat twice inexplicably, a feeling, indescribable, welled up inside.

He was going to be a father!

”Sergeant Luo!” The deputy sergeant stared in shock at the receiver, a clear crack appeared on it. Though made of plastic, it wasn’t so easily cracked by squeezing—how much force must have been used!

Luo Xudong snapped out of it, hung up the phone, and said with a stoic face, ”This phone isn’t sturdy.”

The deputy sergeant nearly cried; was it the phone’s lack of sturdiness, or was it your overwhelming excitement?

He could see Luo Xudong had been excited just now, and wondered what had happened at home to make him so thrilled.

”Is your wife expecting?” the deputy sergeant asked cautiously.

Luo Xudong suddenly looked at the deputy sergeant, his eyes falcon-like.

The deputy sergeant quickly laughed, ”What else but this could make Sergeant Luo so happy? I can’t think of anything else.”

Anyone about to become a dad would be happy, and the deputy sergeant’s kids were already running; he had felt the same back then.

He understood!

It’s just that phone receiver...
