I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 484: Chapter 483: Unstable Pulse

”Doctor Bei, recently my people received news that some of those individuals have already come to the Mainland, but exactly who they are and what their identities are, no one knows yet,” Ma Tianlai said.

After receiving this news, he first went to verify it secretly, and upon confirming it, he came to inform Beisitian immediately.

He hoped to gain Beisitian’s trust by this means, knowing that those people wouldn’t be content with staying in Hong Kong; they would surely aim for the fertile lands of the Mainland, and he could feel that they had already begun to act!

With things developing in this way, he was in danger because to advance towards the Mainland, they would have to take control of Hong Kong first. Though he wasn’t all-powerful there, he was a significant figure, and if the power was divided, he would have a considerable territory!

Thus, he was definitely a target for that group; otherwise, why would they have targeted him last year!

Now Ma Tianlai had to either find people who could stand against them or submit to them!

Ma Tianlai didn’t claim to be a man of principle or integrity, and if not for the fact that those people nearly killed his son, he would likely have chosen to submit.

But now, he would not align with those people again. He absolutely could not send his only son into the tiger’s den, especially since their methods involved control, like poisoning him.

Currently, Ma Tianlai urgently sought a solid backer to cling to, and was there anyone more appropriate than Beisitian, who could resolve those people’s poisons? Moreover, she had Wu Yuekai, General Wu, behind her!

Those were truly influential figures!

”Do you know how many people there are?” Beisitian asked.

Ma Tianlai pondered for a moment, ”That I can investigate, but I’m afraid my previous probe into this matter has already drawn their attention!”

Beisitian nodded, ”Your base is still in Hong Kong, so don’t make rash moves for the time being. Keep an eye on things, and inform me as soon as you have news.”

Ma Tianlai was overjoyed upon hearing this; from Beisitian’s tone, it seemed she had accepted his allegiance!

”Doctor Bei...” Ma Tianlai hesitated for a moment.

Beisitian lifted her gaze to him and said, ”As long as you are on this side, I will do my utmost to ensure your safety.”

With this assurance, Ma Tianlai felt a weight lifted off his shoulders. After all his efforts, he’d finally secured a strong ally!

After a brief conversation, Ma Tianlai left. He needed to bring his child’s mother over to the Mainland quickly, as without his parents, there was no one else in the world for him to care for, only his wife and child remained in his heart.

As for his business empire, it would be great if he could keep it, but if not, fortunately, his ventures in the Mainland had started to take off, and with Beisitian as a strong ally, success was inevitable. With policy support, it wouldn’t be long before he caught up with or even surpassed Hong Kong.

Ma Tianlai thought about this, already considering abandoning that side.

Those people were truly terrifying, able to render someone unconscious for two years without a sound. Where could he reclaim his son’s youth from those two years? Fortunately, thanks to Wu Yuekai’s compassion in introducing Beisitian to him, his son had a chance at life.

As soon as Ma Tianlai left, Tian Qiu and Weng Yong’an arrived. Tian Qiu now with a large belly was due to give birth in about a week.

”At this time, try not to move around too much,” Beisitian went up to greet them.

Weng Yong’an carefully accompanied Tian Qiu, smiling as he said, ”The doctor said the baby hasn’t turned yet, so she needs to walk around more.”

Upon hearing this, Beisitian glanced at Tian Qiu’s belly and her brows furrowed slightly.

”Come in, let me take a look,” Beisitian said.

Weng Yong’an looked up at her, and seeing her expressionless face, his heart sank. He quickly helped Tian Qiu inside.

Tian Qiu’s smile halted momentarily, glancing at Weng Yong’an, and the two went in together.

Tian Qiu sat on the sofa, and without holding back, Beisitian placed a pillow behind her and gently had her lean back. She lifted her shirt softly to reveal the smooth belly with several deep grey marks below, which were stretch marks.

Beisitian gently touched the lower part, then the sides, her expression neither heavy nor relaxed.

Weng Yong’an was uneasy, wanting to ask but hesitant.

”Beibei, how is it?” Tian Qiu asked.

”Walking more is indeed necessary; the baby’s head hasn’t turned yet,” Beisitian replied.

Tian Qiu fixed her gaze on Beisitian, ”Is that all?”

Beisitian rolled her eyes at her, ”That’s worrying enough, with three days left till delivery, and the head still not turned, isn’t that enough to worry about?”

Indeed, it was worrisome, but the doctor said walking more would help turn the baby soon. Tian Qiu thought of this and breathed a sigh of relief. During pregnancy, fatigue was common, and she felt sleepy after chatting for a while. Beisitian suggested she rest in the west room while she gave Weng Yong’an some important instructions.

Tian Qiu nodded, and with Weng Yong’an’s help, went to the west room and fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Weng Yong’an came out and saw Beisitian looking at him, knowing she had something to say, his unease couldn’t be hidden any longer. He asked, ”Sitiang, what is the situation really like?”

Beisitian slightly furrowed her brows, ”I can’t say for sure now. From now on, you had better stay close by and notify me immediately if anything happens!”

Though she had dealt with many pregnant women, her expertise wasn’t as deep in this area as in others, where she could often quickly find the root cause. She only sensed that the fetal position was unstable, which was odd so close to the due date!

Weng Yong’an nodded quickly. Without her prompting, he would also immediately seek her out if anything arose. He had utmost faith in Beisitian now!

Beisitian pondered a moment, returned to the house, and called Du Kai Bo, inquiring about obstetrics issues. Unfortunately, Du Kai Bo wasn’t specialized in this area and couldn’t answer her questions, so he recommended an obstetrics professor to her.

Unable to explain clearly over the phone, Beisitian decided to visit personally. She instructed Weng Yong’an to watch over Tian Qiu, then went to the maternal and child health hospital.

At the hospital, Beisitian met the professor, who was in his fifties, with a calm smile on his face.

Without much small talk, Beisitian immediately raised her concern, ”Why would fetal instability signs appear so close to childbirth, and I’ve checked multiple times; it seems there is an indication of miscarriage.”

Beisitian knew little about gynecology as her mentor was not skilled in this area, and naturally, she hadn’t encountered many such cases. Even in her world, those with power would have routine checkups, but any instability was often attributed to overwork, only revealing complications during difficult childbirth, often when it was too late.
