I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 457: Chapter 456: Ready to Make a Move

Liu Jing’s stubbornness kicked in, and she was convinced that Ma Tianlai was poisoned. She couldn’t understand how Beisitian had tricked him into being so ’loyal.’ Ma Tianlai was a Hong Kong businessman; it was one thing for an ordinary family to have a disagreement, but if a Hong Kong businessman was deceived, not only would their Chinese medicine department suffer, the entire 232 Military District Hospital would be unlucky!

Don’t be fooled by this Hong Kong businessman who urgently wants Beisitian to make medicine. When he realizes he’s been deceived, he won’t take responsibility. He’ll want compensation and will surely look for a scapegoat. Is there a more direct person to blame than the Chinese medicine department?

If the Chinese medicine department is pushed out to take the blame, she’s done for!

Liu Jing’s thoughts raced, and the more she thought about it, the more she felt Ma Tianlai shouldn’t continue. This medicine absolutely could not be given to Beisitian!

”Even if you go to the director, I won’t let you give the medicine to her!” Liu Jing said sternly. Even if she wasn’t understood now, the Hong Kong businessman would surely be grateful once he knew the truth!

Ma Tianlai was about to burst with anger. He’d met many people, but never anyone like this woman; she was completely reshaping his understanding of women!

He thought of himself as someone important in Hong Kong. Even though his business on the Mainland wasn’t as prosperous as in Hong Kong, he was always treated well. Never had he encountered someone so assertive and eager to interfere in his affairs!

While Ma Tianlai might fawn over Beisitian, he’s a genuine big shot outside. Yet now, a woman was giving him a hard time!

Ma Tianlai could deal with her, but he was cautious because Beisitian was there; he didn’t want to act rashly and risk her forming negative impressions of him, especially since she’s a doctor!

Ma Tianlai didn’t fully understand Beisitian’s personality or preferences. He was clever and knew that sometimes a single action could trigger the other person’s resentment, making further relationship improvements difficult.

Ma Tianlai decided that seeking leadership was the best choice; it wouldn’t make him seem too aggressive and could solve the problem effectively and quickly.

Of course, if Beisitian was radical, then it would be easy to handle. Originally, he also wasn’t a kind-hearted person.

Liu Jing frowned slightly; no evidence had been found against Beisitian for privately withholding medication. This person was deeply poisoned, and taking it to the director seemed inappropriate.

However, the Hong Kong businessman insisted on finding the director, leaving her with no choice. She had fulfilled her obligation to supervise, even the director couldn’t say anything!

Liu Jing had felt a bit guilty about only searching for Beisitian’s mistakes. Now she had a legitimate reason, and her conscience was eased.

”I can take you to the director. We also hope you will reconsider; it’s not easy for anyone to earn money. In healthcare, money is secondary; the main thing is not curing the disease. If withholding medication leads to ineffective treatment, delaying the condition, it carries great responsibility. We hold patient responsibility foremost...”

”Alright, alright, alright, I don’t have time to listen to your long-winded speeches. Hurry up and take me to your director!” Ma Tianlai interrupted impatiently.

Liu Jing was instantly exasperated; she thought her argument was well-rounded and reasonable, but to the Hong Kong businessman, it was merely talk!

Liu Jing contained her anger, determined to see his regretful and grateful expression once he understood!

Ma Tianlai glanced at Beisitian, noticing her unchanged expression throughout the encounter, unable to decipher her thoughts. For now, he could only handle it this way.

He knew Doctor Bei’s worldly discretion; naturally, people around her didn’t know her identity. He hadn’t expected such a thoughtless person to trouble her!

Ma Tianlai paused, realizing his foolishness in considering himself wise; he was already involved, no need to say it. He came to the Mainland to invest and conduct business; since Doctor Bei was present, why not shift focus to healthcare?

Driven by opportunity, Ma Tianlai felt eager, sensing a chance!

This wasn’t the time to consider such matters; even without him, Doctor Bei could handle the situation. However, if he resolved it, wouldn’t it deepen her impression of him?

Some self-proclaimed masters in Hong Kong preferred delegating tasks, keeping their image while reducing effort. Though those individuals couldn’t compare to Doctor Bei, arranging matters for her without requiring her intervention wouldn’t anger her.

Ma Tianlai took great pains to build rapport with Beisitian.

He saw Beisitian had no objection and was about to go with Liu Jing to find the director, when suddenly a booming voice came from outside.

”What’s going on?” Han Zhengyi approached.

Qin Fengwang and other members of the Chinese medicine clinic were stunned. To Han Zhengyi, the Chinese medicine department was merely a small unit of the 232 Military District Hospital; yet, the director suddenly appeared here!

It couldn’t possibly be because of Beisitian, could it?

The crowd entertained the thought while Liu Jing was pleased. It was rare for a top leader to appear; evidently, the matter was considered significant!

”Director, it’s like this. This Hong Kong businessman also came for medicine, but... Doctor Bei insists on using her methods!” Liu Jing explained.

She had already informed Han Zhengyi of the method, and she didn’t feel like repeating it.

Han Zhengyi looked at Beisitian, her expression calm, with eyes like a serene lake, stirred only slightly.

Ma Tianlai recognized Han Zhengyi as someone in power, with real authority, unlike those of them who had wealth but lacked influence, so his attitude became more conciliatory.

”You’re the leader here? Here’s my business card; I am Ma Tianlai.” Ma Tianlai shed his previous impatience, introducing himself with a courteous smile.

In Hong Kong, exchanging business cards was common; on the Mainland, only big bosses typically did so. Though Han Zhengyi wasn’t a businessman, he accepted the card, showing courtesy to the Hong Kong businessman.

”Doctor Bei and I are old acquaintances. Without Doctor Bei, my son would still be unconscious. I’m here today to ask Doctor Bei for more medicine to help my son’s recovery,” Ma Tianlai said.

Han Zhengyi nodded while Liu Jing frowned and asked, ”That’s certainly fine, but you’re preparing to hand your self-purchased medicine to someone else without protection. Can you trust the quantity or quality?”

Han Zhengyi turned to Ma Tianlai, curious about his thoughts; if he were in a similar position, he’d definitely have doubts.

Ma Tianlai chuckled, ”Of course others are untrustworthy, but Doctor Bei is different. Otherwise, Mr. Wu wouldn’t have introduced her to me. It took a long time for me to persuade Mr. Wu to do so.”
