I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 491: Chapter 490: The Talismanic Scripture Stored in Her Mind

Shao Simin always felt that since Beisitian had such a close relationship with the Tian Family, she should contribute more to the company, and buy those herbal recipes from the Tian Family at a low price. After all, being near the waterside pavilions, one gets the moon first!

But Beisitian completely ignored her, no matter how many times Simin hinted or spoke directly; she never asked the Tian Family. This made Shao Simin both frustrated and helpless, and who knows how many times she’s tried to speak to Luo Xuhua about it.

Beisitian didn’t care what Shao Simin thought. However, since she was a shareholder of the Shenghua Group, naturally, she also hoped that the group would grow stronger and better so she could receive more dividends.

Since she needed to gather strength, money was indispensable. She didn’t consider it so important before, but things were different now.

With such thoughts, Beisitian finally paid attention.

Tian Qiu was afraid of pain and didn’t dare get out of bed for a while until Beisitian’s ointment took effect. The pain in her lower abdomen reduced significantly, allowing her to sit up with Weng Yong’an’s support and cautiously step down, but walking was very difficult.

Although the wound in her lower abdomen wasn’t painful anymore, her uterus, which hadn’t fully returned to position, was still swollen and painfully throbbing, making it hard to breathe.

Professor Qiu looked at Tian Qiu, asked about her feelings, and seeing that Beisitian’s ointment seemed genuinely effective, was very curious about it.

”Doctor Bei, is there any more of that ointment? Could you let me have a look?” Professor Qiu asked with a smile.

Beisitian smiled slightly, took out a piece, and handed it to Professor Qiu, saying, ”This ointment works quite well. If Professor Qiu needs it, I’ll give it to you.”

Professor Qiu took the ointment and noticed it was very crudely made, obviously handmade. She wasn’t a traditional medicine practitioner, so she couldn’t identify the ingredients just by the smell, planning to study it later.

Tian Qiu, though somewhat weak, was in decent shape overall, with her aunt on her mother’s side taking care of her all day.

Beisitian also went to see the little one. Since he was born full-term, he weighed five pounds and five ounces—a considerable weight in those days. Most babies were thin and scrunched up, with five pounds being quite hefty, especially considering most families didn’t have much to eat. Four pounds would have been not bad at all.

The baby’s condition was quite stable, although he had nearly suffocated upon birth and inhaled some amniotic fluid, which left him a bit frail. Beisitian could see at a glance that the child was lacking vital energy.

Fortunately, this can be remedied over time. Once the baby reaches full moon, he can be given some gentle nurturing.

After checking on both the baby and mother, Beisitian returned, finding Wei Zhongyuan in the courtyard reading ancient texts. The pages of the book were already yellowed, and he turned them carefully.

Upon seeing Beisitian return, he stood up respectfully, behaving like a junior.

”What are you reading?” Beisitian asked with a smile.

”It’s some unofficial history about the Mystic Doctor.”

Unlike Wei Zhongxun, who liked to joke, Wei Zhongyuan was a serious type and answered Beisitian’s questions in a straightforward manner.

Unofficial history of the Mystic Doctor?

Beisitian was slightly curious, so she picked up the book from the stone table. Wei Zhongyuan’s eyes immediately stayed on the book, showing his concern for it.

Beisitian flipped through a few pages, noticing that it recorded some interesting anecdotes or stories, with many seeming likely to have actually happened.

”This is interesting,” Beisitian said with a smile, then turned to the page about the Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture and the Mystical Doctor Seal.

”Is the Mystical Doctor Seal with the Left-wing?” Beisitian asked Wei Zhongyuan.

She remembered seeing letters stamped with the Mystical Doctor Seal at the old man’s place, prompting her question.

Wei Zhongyuan shook his head, ”The Mystical Doctor Seal and the Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture disappeared long ago, probably during those blank periods in history. Nowadays, even letters stamped with the Mystical Doctor Seal are very rare, making such letters incredibly precious!”

Beisitian listened quietly, yet her brows slightly furrowed.

”As for the Left-wing, they do have a replica, but the Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture is also long lost in the distant past. However, both the Wei Family and the Left-wing have kept some fragments. In their early years, when their relationship was decent, they tried to piece together the fragments, but found them to be disjointed and unrelated. Obviously, they weren’t part of a whole, so no success in compiling them.”

Beisitian was pleasantly informed, as there was no need to ask a question to get a response.

The Mystical Doctor Seal cannot be replicated; it’s carved and polished from mutton fat jade, containing an ancient and primitive coin within it.

Nobody knows how the coin got into the mutton fat jade since it was a whole piece, with only carving marks and no damage marks.

Because of its uniqueness, the Mystical Doctor Seal became the one thing all Mystic Doctors acknowledged. Of course, to some extent, this also related to the status of the person who made it at the time.

”If there was the Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture, it would indeed be the best way to enhance power,” Beisitian murmured.

Even though they had time to prepare, the overall power on this side was still too weak. Having only her as a Mystic Doctor capable of Spiritual Talisman was far from enough to deal with potential future conflicts.

Even with a military force behind them, if those people acted covertly while they were in the open, there was simply no way to guard against them. The best solution was to raise everyone’s overall capabilities, to have the ability to counteract treachery and face those people.

This is easy to say but extremely difficult in execution. Even people like Wei Zhongyuan, regarded as extraordinary, couldn’t make that last step; Wei Zhongxun and Tian Zhi still needed considerable time, yet adding even just these three would make a substantial difference!

Wei Zhongyuan nodded at Beisitian’s words, ”Yes, if we could have the Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture, anyone who learned from it could advance rapidly. Unfortunately...”

Unfortunately, it’s pointless to lament about it, as the Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture has been lost for over a century, and nothing of substance can be learned from these fragments.

While Wei Zhongyuan was feeling regret beside her, Beisitian had other calculations. Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture lost? That might be so for them, but within Beisitian’s head lay the entire Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture!

It is a talismanic scripture she had read through and studied countless times in her previous life, considered a classic among talisman doctors; every Mystic Doctor had seen it, yet none had delved into it as deeply as she had.

She could transcribe the Mystic Doctor Talisman Scripture from memory. Still, hearing Wei Zhongyuan’s implication, publishing it might cause quite a stir.

Unless she had the capability to handle the resulting disputes, it was safer to keep it locked in her mind.

Because of this concern, Beisitian didn’t reveal it immediately, instead pondering how to improve the abilities of those around her.
