I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 461: Chapter 460: A General

Nowadays, Beisitian has very few people available to her. Zhou Quan is trustworthy, but in the end, he is Luo Xudong’s man, and he must report everything to Luo Xudong before and after it happens.

Beisitian didn’t intend to hide things from Luo Xudong, but she was still accustomed to using her own personnel.

Tian Qingyun and Su Lan’s proactive approach temporarily made up for her manpower shortage.

Thinking of this, Beisitian couldn’t help but think of Ma Tianlai, this big boss seems to be very proactive as well, but whether he can be trusted remains to be seen. Especially considering he drank contaminated water before and had connections with such Mystic Doctors, Beisitian dared not trust him easily.

Sunday quickly arrived, and the apprenticeship ceremony was scheduled for 10:30 AM. Out of respect for Beisitian and the Wei Family, most attendees arrived before 9:00 AM.

Responsible for reception from the Tian Family were the eldest, Tian Qinghui, and the fifth, Tian Qingyao. The third-generation manager, Tian Jun, brought the more tight-lipped and reliable family members to handle chores, giving all the help a day off.

Apart from the second and fourth generations who were dispatched to inspect out-of-town industries, others like Tian Qiu did not attend either. Although Tian Lei and Tian Ying were doctors, Tian Heming decided against their attendance, considering they were not cautious enough.

The third in line may not be a doctor, but they attended the ceremony because both he and his spouse were persuaded by the eldest’s advice to pledge loyalty to Beisitian.

Tian Qingyun and Su Lan knew roughly what to expect, but seeing so many once unimaginable influential figures showing up for Beisitian left them speechless.

They never imagined a niece they had never met could possess such capabilities!

Thanks to Du Kai Bo, Mei Siyuan was able to procure an invitation. It wasn’t about his lack of qualification; it’s just he wasn’t that close with Beisitian and his association with the Wei Family was average. This time, he benefited from Du Kai Bo’s connections.

”Doctor Bei, long time no see.” Mei Siyuan remarked with a smile, truly admiring this remarkably young Mystic Doctor from the bottom of his heart.

”Hello, Dean Mei.” Beisitian responded with a smile, exchanging pleasantries.

With a laugh, Du Kai Bo, dressed in a military uniform just like Mei Siyuan, carried a single star on his shoulder, signifying a rank of brigadier general.

”I never imagined I’d have the privilege of witnessing Doctor Bei accepting a disciple. This is indeed a rare opportunity.”

It’s more than rare—it’s extraordinarily rare.

Du Kai Bo was thrilled upon receiving the Tian Family invitation; this surely meant he had Beisitian’s approval, indicating a budding friendship, a very positive sign.

While these two directors were exchanging pleasantries with Beisitian, Tian Jun entered with a few others, prompting Beisitian to quickly approach.

It was Wu Yuekai!

”Old Master.” Beisitian greeted with a smile, genuinely pleased by his presence.

Wu Yuekai laughed heartily, wearing a military uniform that reinforced his commanding presence despite his age. His sharp eyes sometimes flashed with a glint, quickly fading yet leaving none to overlook him.

Even if others did not know him, the two stars on his shoulder naturally commanded respect, especially noticing Beisitian’s close rapport with him.

What surprised Beisitian was the presence of two individuals behind Wu Yuekai, one she recognized—Tao Hailin—and the other, appearing about forty years old, was unfamiliar.

”The old man made the decision on his own and brought them along.” Wu Yuekai stated.

This was actually agreed upon by him and Beisitian; Tao Hailin had sought him out, attempting to meet Beisitian, and today was the perfect arrangement to showcase Beisitian’s influence, though only the beginning.

However, in front of Tao Hailin, Beisitian needed to feign ignorance.

Thus Beisitian smiled gently, ”I’m already very pleased that you could spare time to come.” Her implication being that who accompanies him matters not.

Tao Hailin mentally chuckled bitterly, aware she still harbored resentment over his previous attitude. Approaching, he said, ”Doctor Bei, I was oblivious last time, and deeply apologize for any offense.”

This straightforward apology came after consulting Wu Yuekai. Knowing Beisitian dislikes roundabout speech, Tao Hailin might not be verbose himself, but being direct conveyed his intentions and minimized misunderstanding.

Beisitian chuckled, ”Doctor Tao, you exaggerate, there was no significant issue.”

Realizing Beisitian’s stance, Tao Hailin understood she wasn’t narrow-minded, yet planned his subsequent approach carefully.

Most visitors brought valuable gifts, as the majority were doctors and Beisitian had a background in Traditional Chinese Medicine, thus gifting various precious herbal medicines, including those from the Wei Family.

Beisitian accepted these items without reservation, considering them treasures: one included a five-hundred-year-old ginseng, another winter worm-summer grass, deer antlers, and more, astonishing her most were a thousand-year-old ginseng and nearly mature Polygonum multiflorum!

The thousand-year-old ginseng was gifted by Wu Yuekai, and the Polygonum multiflorum by the Wei Family.

Tao Hailin wasn’t empty-handed either; his gift surprised Beisitian, it was ambergris!

Indeed, it’s no surprise that the Left and Right Sects boast solid foundations, offering typically rare, costly medicinal items with ease.

The Wei Family’s effort was impressive too, presenting treasures even among Mystic Doctors’ circles or sects, solely to establish a connection with Beisitian.

Wei Yuanqing raised an eyebrow at the ambergris, proving the wealth of the Left Sect, indeed genuine, rare even within the Wei Family.

Wearing a sharp suit, Wei Zhongxun’s attire was impeccably formal. Tian Zhiye opted for a Zhongshan suit due to limited choice, appearing more mature and composed.

Today, both acted as representatives not of the Wei Family or Tian Family but of Beisitian.

Yet they felt somewhat timid amidst these foremost medical and military figures.

Similarly, Tian Qingyun and Su Lan shared their sentiment, perhaps even less composed. Observing Beisitian’s cordial interaction with senior officers and Wei Family members, without any trace of unease, earned their admiration, though undermining their confidence. Fortunately, they heeded their brother’s advice.

As the time approached closer, the apprenticeship ceremony prepared to begin. At this moment, Tian Jun suddenly entered from outside, approaching Tian Heming and Beisitian, whispering, ”There’s someone outside wanting to see Beibei, and it’s a general!”
