I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 481: Chapter 480: This Is Ours (Happy New Year to Everyone!)

They drove all the way into the Capital City, and although Luo Anguo was a city dweller before, the city then was nothing like it is now, especially since he hadn’t left Kao Village for many years.

Mrs. Qin and Luo Xuping had never left Kao Village before, so when they saw the bustling traffic and the towering skyscrapers, they couldn’t help but exclaim in amazement.

At Luo Anguo’s request, Luo Xudong took the long street, slowed down, and passed by Tianmen Square, the Great Hall, and the solemn Zhonghai.

When they saw the Tianmen City Tower, the three of them were mesmerized. This used to be the Capital City, where the Emperor lived, and they couldn’t believe they could see it up close.

Luo Xudong, having driven all the way, was showing signs of fatigue, despite his good stamina. So he didn’t stop, planning to bring them back when everything was settled.

Tianmen, for the wider populace, is not just a landmark of the Capital City but a national symbol. For those from the Capital City who see it often, it might not be a big deal, but for people from other places, visiting the Capital City means they have to visit Tianmen.

This is different from other famous tourist attractions. Tiananmen carries a significance unlike other buildings and sights, with especially major historical importance and a profound impact.

After passing Chang’an Street, Luo Xudong sped up and soon arrived home. He parked the car, and the four of them, along with Luo Xuping, helped move everything inside.

Zhou Hongxia from the neighboring courtyard saw this and smiled, greeting them while curiously looking at the two elders and one child, secretly wondering if the child was Luo Xudong and Beisitian’s, thinking they seemed a bit too old for that.

The house here might not be as spacious as the newly built one in their hometown, but the yard is large, with both east and west wing rooms ready, and all the windows are glass, unlike the paper windows of the newly built west wing in their hometown.

Mrs. Qin looked at the toona tree in the yard and smiled. They wouldn’t have to buy toona anymore, but unfortunately, there’s no land. If there were a plot, they could grow some grains themselves.

Mrs. Qin had this thought, but even though the yard is large, she didn’t want to ruin it by making a vegetable plot, which would lower the overall elegance of the yard and make it look a bit messy as soon as you enter.

”Mom, this courtyard is ours,” Beisitian said, seeing Mrs. Qin looking around, and laughed.

Mrs. Qin was taken aback and said in surprise, ”Did you really buy another courtyard?”

”When have I ever lied to you?” Beisitian laughed.

Mrs. Qin opened her mouth, thinking Beisitian said that just to comfort her. Buying such a courtyard in the Capital City must cost thousands, certainly not just a few thousand!

Beisitian didn’t elaborate; this kind of courtyard can’t be bought with money alone, you need connections. This courtyard wasn’t set up by Luo Xudong but was arranged by an elder she asked because they wanted to buy the courtyard behind, but the owner’s price was too high and they had little desire to sell.

So they ended up buying the courtyard on the right side when you exit, as the family was planning to move abroad. Beisitian offered a reasonable price, and they sold it to her. Without that elder, the courtyard might have been sold to their relatives instead.

”But for now, you have to stay on this side; the other side needs some tidying and simple renovations before you can move in. The furniture has been chosen and just needs to be moved in,” Beisitian continued.

Aside from the courtyard’s style, the furniture style is a continuation of what they have at home, all solid wood painted in a deep red, rustic and grand, which Luo Anguo and Mrs. Qin will surely like.

”We just need to stay in the west wing; why buy an entire set at such a cost when you two still need money in the future!” Luo Anguo frowned, almost suggesting that they return the house.

Luo Anguo couldn’t say it directly, because when there are children in the future, there will be many expenses. Spending so much just on a house doesn’t seem worthwhile. The family could squeeze in for now.

Beisitian smiled without saying anything. She planned to continue buying houses. Ma Tianlai said the house prices in the Capital City would definitely increase in the future, being an economic and political center with policy support. Once the policies are relaxed, people from all directions will flood into the Capital City, just like other major cities!

Luo Xudong then said, ”Dad, it’s already bought. Sitiang prepared for this for a long time.”

Luo Anguo understood his meaning. He truly felt Beisitian’s care. Actually, she was more like a daughter to them than a daughter-in-law—a daughter, indeed!

Before Luo Xudong returned, they treated Beisitian as a daughter, even considering acting as her family.

So they weren’t too formal with Beisitian, but they worried about money. Now that both he and Mrs. Qin didn’t have any income, they relied on the two kids to earn money, so they had to be frugal.

Moreover, Luo Anguo was also thinking about whether he could find some work in the Capital City. Now that he’s agile, he can’t just idle at home, wasting away.

Mrs. Qin had similar thoughts. Luo Xuping was their son, and Beisitian had saved money for his schooling expenses. But they should earn this money themselves, and they should provide for their son. Since Beisitian had taken care of everything, they mustn’t burden her anymore or cause any trouble.

Beisitian created an archway in the gap between the east wing and the north side, also installing doors that generally remained unlocked.

Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo curiously glanced over there, but first, they took things into the west wing and then went to the northern room; they could view it anytime, there was no rush.

Sitting on the soft sofa inside, the elderly couple still found it unreal that they’d just arrived in the Capital City.

”Mom, we built a kang for you over there,” Beisitian said.

Mrs. Qin was inspecting the room and laughed when she heard this, ”Little Tian’er thinks of everything. We are rural folks, and we feel most comfortable sleeping on a kang.”

”Mom, in the next couple of days, I’ll first familiarize you with the surroundings while Xudong handles Ping’an’s school admission,” Beisitian said.

These things had been prepared before, so there was no rush or panic, and most of the procedures were almost complete. The house could be moved into within the week.

”Sis, am I changing schools again?” Luo Xuping asked.

Luo Xuping was a bit dark, from being constantly exposed to the sun.

Compared to when they departed, Luo Xuping had grown taller and seemed to have matured a bit.

But from his words, it seemed he didn’t want to change schools, which Beisitian could understand. Every time you change environments, you have to adapt—not just children, but adults as well.
