I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 466: Chapter 465: Captain Luo’s Wife

That day, Wu Yuekai called Zhou Biwu, who seemed to have expected it and agreed immediately without any hesitation.

When Beisitian returned to the small courtyard, Luo Xudong still hadn’t come back. Looking at the empty courtyard, she couldn’t help feeling a bit downhearted.

She hadn’t been able to contact him for three days. What on earth was he doing now?

Beisitian was a bit worried. Although it was said to be a field training, it was actually a mission.

...

Deep in the forests of Xishuangbanna, Luo Xudong and his team had already set up their tents. This mission consisted of eight people, all of whom had been airdropped in.

The task was to intercept a group involved in illegal arms dealing, with confirmed information that the transaction would take place deep in this forest.

He gazed at the sky, which was turning white with the dawn. Tomorrow she would take on an apprentice, a day that seemed significant to her, even though she had never mentioned it.

Luo Xudong furrowed his brow slightly. On important days of her life, he wished to be by her side. But now, what was urgent was to quickly improve his own abilities, make more achievements, and move up faster so he could protect her better.

He wanted to protect his woman himself, not leave it to others, including the old chief. However, given the current situation, only the old chief could protect her.

”Captain Luo, are you going to have dinner?” Song Chao asked from behind him.

Song Chao had been the first to challenge Luo Xudong’s authority, but in several challenges, Luo Xudong had firmly suppressed him, leaving him no room to resist. It was not easy for an excellent veteran to be convinced like this.

Luo Xudong used his strength to suppress his subordinates, but in private, he was very loyal. Although he seemed cold, he was actually very decent.

Luo Xudong was naturally skillful. He used both soft and hard methods, and it only took half a month to subdue this group of veterans. He had a target in mind when choosing people, first dealing with those who had influence, then the troublesome ones. Once these were subdued, the rest were easy to manage.

Hearing Song Chao, Luo Xudong turned back toward the temporary camp.

For dinner, they had steamed buns with pickled vegetables, enough to fill their stomachs and easy to carry.

The situation here was still unclear, so they dared not make a fire. All eight of them nibbled on hard steamed buns. Though not hard enough to knock someone out, it took effort to bite through one layer.

The soldiers on the mission were used to such conditions. This was when they had food; when not, they’d eat insects raw.

Insects in this type of forest often carried bacteria. Even if they swallowed some medicine, they still could not avoid getting sick. Falling ill during a mission generally had only one outcome: death.

You couldn’t burden your comrades, and before the mission was complete, others couldn’t carry you. In such places, if you couldn’t endure physically and had to separate, it would only lead to a bad outcome.

After dinner, two stayed to keep watch while the rest got as much rest as possible, needing to take action at one o’clock in the morning.

At this moment, an elongated birdcall suddenly pierced the air, quickly turning into two sharp sounds, signaling that something had been discovered.

Several people at the temporary camp immediately picked up their guns and found places to hide. Shortly after, a tall figure approached with a smaller figure.

”Captain Luo, this woman claims she’s looking for you.” A tall, thin man named Heizi came over, his face smeared with green juice.

The woman moved shakily out from behind Heizi, softly calling out, ”Xudong...”

When Luo Xudong saw her, his eyes narrowed, and he rushed forward, ”How did you get here?”

Heizi scratched his head, ”So you really know her, Captain Luo? I thought she was conning me. She said she was kidnapped and managed to escape while they weren’t watching!”

It was indeed Beisitian that Luo Xudong saw!

Beisitian’s face was dirty, her clothes torn in several places, and she appeared quite disheveled, tears staining her face. At the sight of Luo Xudong, she could only wipe her tears.

”Leave her to me. You continue to stand guard,” Luo Xudong said sternly.

Heizi nodded, giving Beisitian a look of admiration for escaping from the clutches of such a group. Truly not simple; worthy of being Captain Luo’s woman!

Song Chao frowned. Had those people acted too quickly? Their mission was confidential yet had been noticed, with Captain Luo’s family even kidnapped for leverage!

At first, he doubted the woman’s identity, but Captain Luo couldn’t possibly not recognize his own wife, so he naturally harbored no suspicion.

Luo Xudong led Beisitian to his tent, and everyone willingly stayed away. This sort of situation was rare and there would surely be a lot to discuss!

Beisitian sat on a dry mat, gulping down water from a military flask. After finishing, she exhaled and looked at Luo Xudong.

”I thought I’d never see you again.” As Beisitian spoke, her tears began to flow.

Luo Xudong frowned slightly, ”What’s going on?”

Beisitian briefly explained the situation to Luo Xudong. She had encountered a group of people on her way home, who, without a word, forced her into a car, blindfolded her with black cloth. After two days and nights amidst loud rumbling, she opened her eyes and found herself in this godforsaken place!

”Xudong... I missed you so much...” Beisitian shifted from sitting to kneeling, her hands pressed on the ground as she leaned towards Luo Xudong.

Beisitian gently moved closer to Luo Xudong’s chest, her head approaching his shoulder. Seeing that Luo Xudong neither dodged nor embraced her as she imagined, she looked up, meeting a pair of cold, starry eyes instantly.

Beisitian’s heart shook as she suddenly swung her right hand, and a seductive fragrance pervaded immediately. Luo Xudong closed his eyes, his head tilting back as he collapsed.

Coldly eyeing Luo Xudong lying on the ground, ’Beisitian’ sat back down, cross-legged, with elbows on her knees, chin resting in her palm. After waiting two minutes, she pushed Luo Xudong, a sly smile curling her lips.

”I thought you were some exceptional man; you’re just average,” she sneered.

Looking at Luo Xudong’s handsome yet frosty face, she couldn’t help but recall the cold gaze earlier. She had thought he might have noticed something, but perhaps it was just her overthinking. He couldn’t have noticed, and even if he had, he wouldn’t have let her get so close!

Thinking about this, ’Beisitian’ advanced, her hands probing around Luo Xudong’s chest, searching momentarily but failing to find what she wanted, causing her to frown.

”Where is it? Reliable information says it should be on him!”

’Beisitian’ pondered briefly, searched again, and still found nothing. Fearful of unexpected changes from prolonging the time, she prepared to leave, when suddenly a bone-chilling voice came from behind.

”What are you looking for?”
