I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 458: Chapter 457: Who Made the Rules

Mr. Wu?

Han Zhengyi’s expression changed slightly, and he couldn’t help but ask, ”Are you talking about Mr. Wu, Wu Yuekai?”

Ma Tianlai nodded and said, ”That’s right.”

Whereas there was a bit of doubt before, now Han Zhengyi had no doubt at all. He knew when he learned about the situation that Beisitian knew General Wu, but he wasn’t sure to what extent. After hearing Han Zhengyi’s words, it turned out General Wu was the one who introduced Beisitian to him!

Based on this alone, the possibility of Beisitian withholding medicinal ingredients was almost zero, because there was no need at all.

Han Zhengyi did not understand Beisitian. Rather than trusting Beisitian, it was more about trusting General Wu.

He knew the name of Wu Yuekai, but others did not, and Liu Jing was even unaware of who Mr. Wu or Mr. Zhou were. She was about to say something, but Ma Tianlai spoke before she could.

”If Doctor Bei is really willing to use my medicinal ingredients, I’m more than happy, and not just a little—I can help provide as much as needed.” Ma Tianlai said with a smile.

He was subtly expressing his intention to Han Zhengyi, even though he didn’t have much business in medical pharmaceuticals, but he had channels, especially with some foreign imported medicines. If he wished, he could become a supplier.

However, such sources must pass strict approval from the drug inspection bureau, with rather cumbersome procedures, and the process is lengthy; nearly every batch of medicine has to go through this procedure, which is why he did not directly explain it.

His intention was that if Doctor Bei was willing to speak in this regard, he didn’t mind the trouble.

The military hospital is no exception—its sources for medicine are varied, especially after the Mainland market opened up, the channels are more diversified, making it not easy to find reliable suppliers.

Ma Tianlai had this confidence because he had the relationship with Wu Yuekai. Han Zhengyi might not trust him, but he wouldn’t distrust Wu Yuekai. Plus, with the information on his business card, once verified, there’s an eighty percent chance Han Zhengyi would be persuaded.

Indeed, Han Zhengyi felt a stir in his heart, but he wouldn’t act on it in front of his subordinates; therefore, he didn’t respond to Ma Tianlai at the time, but he couldn’t help but glance at Beisitian again.

Seeing this, Ma Tianlai seemed somewhat competent. To make him so earnest in expressing his sincerity towards Beisitian, it seemed Beisitian truly had some skills.

Liu Jing noticed Ma Tianlai’s demeanor, thinking he didn’t seem poisoned. Since he wasn’t poisoned and yet defended Beisitian so much, saying good things about her in every possible way, there was only one possibility—he was a stooge brought in by Beisitian!

The word ”stooge” seemed vulgar, especially as it typically appeared among street vendors and even in deceptive trades, making it seem low-grade!

Liu Jing glanced at Han Zhengyi, noticing he hadn’t criticized Beisitian, assuming he didn’t have concrete evidence yet. If she exposed Ma Tianlai as a stooge, even without evidence, it might convince Han Zhengyi.

Thinking of this, Liu Jing was about to speak but saw Jiang Yanmei rounding the corner from upstairs.

Jiang Yanmei walked rather quickly, unaware of who Han Zhengyi and Ma Tianlai were, assuming they were here for medical consultation, and she smiled as she chatted with Beisitian, ”Doctor Bei, you are busy today; I’ve finished the medicine you prescribed. Would you check if I can get another dose?”

Beisitian wore a gentle smile and said, ”Let me take a look.”

Jiang Yanmei glanced at the surrounding people, seeing them all standing, supposing they weren’t here for medical consultation. She then sat beside Doctor Bei’s desk and extended her hand.

Beisitian’s slender fingers gently pressed on her pulse, studying Jiang Yanmei’s face, and shortly after nodded, indicating no repelling charm phenomena.

”How do you feel?”

”Very good, very good. After drinking the first dose of medicine, I actually didn’t have dreams nor got up at night that evening. Although I’m still sweating, the situation improved significantly. After the second dose, I don’t know if it’s psychological, but I feel emotionally better. When I saw my husband putting the teacup lid directly on the table, I didn’t feel like fighting with him. This change is quite obvious. At first, I thought it was psychological. My husband said otherwise; he mentioned I even hummed a tune while cooking, and I wasn’t aware of it myself!”

Thinking of her husband’s surprised expression upon seeing her condition these past two days, Jiang Yanmei couldn’t help but laugh.

Although she usually laughed too, mostly when dealing with others outside, such as visiting the hospital or with neighbors; she didn’t like displaying family matters in front of others, so she’d always smile when meeting people. Yet with her husband and son, she quarreled every day!

Honestly, she was annoyed herself. Seeing the irritation on her son and husband’s faces, she was even more annoyed. Though she tried to control and adjust her emotions, she couldn’t manage it—even things she previously found interesting seemed dull.

The changes were noticeable after drinking the medicine for the first two days, albeit less distinct by the third day. However, she had fewer outbursts, and the anger subsided more quickly. In the past, she’d be upset for an extended period, sometimes even a week over a single incident. Now, she nearly forgot it soon after.

Beisitian nodded. The talismanic water worked very quickly. Jiang Yanmei’s condition was persistent, and to quickly relieve menopause symptoms, she needed another one to two doses. Based on her absorption condition, just one more would bring significant improvement, afterward, Chinese medicine could be used for maintenance.

”Doctor Bei, could you prescribe me two more doses?” Jiang Yanmei asked.

Beisitian apologetically smiled, ”I’m afraid I can’t.”

Jiang Yanmei was momentarily stunned; she was certain Beisitian’s intention wasn’t that she was cured but that she wouldn’t prescribe her medicine!

”Why? Is the medicine rather expensive, considering how much is concentrated into these doses? Surely, it takes more time and effort, but if money is the issue, I can certainly add more!” Jiang Yanmei quickly said.

Her family was peaceful these days, and Jiang Yanmei felt at ease herself. She wanted to maintain this, knowing well that many men cheat during their wives’ menopause phase. She didn’t want her family to fall apart due to her inability to control her emotions. At such an age, embarrassing it may be, but how would the days ahead be?

Though Jiang Yanmei never voiced it, she always worried about this issue.

”The department regulations don’t allow privately made prescriptions for patients, so you’ll have to brew the medicine yourself at home. Although the effect might be slower, over time it can also help adjust things.”

Can also help adjust things?!

Jiang Yanmei panicked upon hearing this, having brewed Chinese medicine for over two years with little effect. Drinking Beisitian’s medicine for just three days showed significant results; no matter what, she didn’t want to revert to the previous state!

”Who made this regulation?” Jiang Yanmei asked with a grim expression, directing her question to Qin Fengwang.
