Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 181: Chapter 155: Who Says a Javelin Without a Tip Can’t Kill You

Seeing the second burly man holding a sharp javelin, Zhao Rong stepped back and drew a sharp breath. ”Damn it,” he said, ”my soft inner armor can stop throwing knives, but it can’t stop this javelin.”

When they heard that the only reason Zhao Rong was impervious to blades was because he was wearing soft inner armor, the four burly men fainted from shock.

The first burly man, riddled with throwing knives and barely clinging to life, sputtered, ”So, you were just wearing soft armor, kid. I actually thought you were some kind of god, truly invincible. It seems there’s no ultimate poser in this world, only a bigger one...”

With that, his eyes rolled back, and he passed out cold.

Seeing his brother faint, the second burly man brandished his javelin, eager for his turn. ”Boy, even with soft armor, you won’t be able to stop my javelin...”

A javelin carried far more force than a throwing knife. The man was certain that if he threw it with all his might, he could pierce straight through Zhao Rong’s body.

He backed up fifty meters, took a running start, and hurled the long, sharp javelin directly at Zhao Rong. After releasing the weapon, the Javelin Man confidently patted his chest.

”I took first place in the school javelin competition last year,” he boasted. ”With the speed and power of my throw, I refuse to believe it won’t run you through.”

The other burly men, seeing the javelin fly, laughed with glee. ”Thinking a flimsy piece of soft armor can stop a javelin? Keep dreaming, little security guard. Your end has come.”

The javelin hurtled straight for Zhao Rong’s heart. Just as everyone assumed it would be a fatal blow, the weapon struck Zhao Rong’s chest with a loud CLANG, as if hitting a steel plate, and clattered harmlessly to the ground.

Zhao Rong stood there, completely unharmed and smiling.

The crowd was stunned.

The second burly man’s eyes went wide. ”Impossible! How could your soft armor stop my javelin?”

While the three remaining thugs were frozen like statues, utterly dumbfounded, Zhao Rong casually pulled a slab of metal out from under his shirt. ”Some thief must have cut a manhole cover in half and left the pieces here. Lucky for me, it came in handy.”

It turned out that as the javelin flew toward him, Zhao Rong had, with lightning speed, snatched up a broken piece of a manhole cover from the ground and stuffed it under his clothes. The cover was made of pure steel; it was not only thick but also incredibly hard.

When the three thugs realized Zhao Rong was unhurt because he had hidden a manhole cover under his shirt, they were so shocked they wet themselves. The Javelin Man’s hands trembled in shock. ”Damn it, so you came prepared! You’re not only wearing soft armor, but you’ve got a manhole cover in your shirt too? I’ve seen some weird security guards, but none as bizarre as you.”

As the man stood there, dumbfounded, Zhao Rong bent down and picked up the javelin, its tip now blunted from the impact. He then reared back and fiercely hurled it at the second burly man.

As a level 22 cultivator, Zhao Rong possessed immense strength. The javelin struck the thug square in the chest.

However, the man just burst into laughter. ”Little security guard, maybe you should check which end is the front before you throw a javelin! You threw the wooden tail at me. Do you think you’re a god or something?”

Before he could finish his sentence, Zhao Rong slowly walked over. He patted the man’s shoulder, touched his forehead, and gave a gentle push. The second burly man collapsed to the ground, motionless.

Zhao Rong smiled faintly. ”Who said a tipless javelin can’t kill you?”

After he spoke, the remaining two thugs saw with dawning horror that their brother, the Javelin Man, hadn’t just fallen. The blunt wooden shaft of the javelin Zhao Rong had thrown had actually pierced straight through his body. He was dead.

Seeing the little security guard so easily dispatch two of their brothers without breaking a sweat, the remaining two were gripped by terror.

The archer looked at the shotgunner, his expression horrified. ”Boss, this security guard must have some kind of divine protection. He’s practically invincible! I think we should run.”

Just then, Zhao Rong pulled off the soft inner armor from under his shirt and tossed it into a nearby flower basket. He then kicked the piece of manhole cover away.

”It’s much more comfortable wearing just a shirt,” he commented. ”This soft armor might protect me, but it’s just too damn hot to wear in the middle of summer. What a pain.”

Seeing Zhao Rong discard his protection, now wearing only his security guard shirt, the shotgunner, who had been about to flee, stopped the archer.

”Wait a second. Didn’t you see that? The kid just threw away his armor and the manhole cover. Now’s our chance to kill him.”

With that, the shotgunner raised his weapon, aimed it at Zhao Rong, and said to the archer, ”Brother, let’s fire together. I refuse to believe this little security guard has three heads and six arms. There’s no way he can dodge an arrow and a shotgun blast at the same time.”

The archer nodded, drew his bow, and nocked an arrow. ”Right, Boss. I’ll let loose a volley, and you deliver the killing blow. This time, we’ll definitely take this little security guard’s pathetic life.”

The two thugs exchanged a confident smile.

At that moment, Wang Meili was just leaving the library, a book tucked under her arm, and happened to walk past. When she saw her Brother Zhao Rong cornered by two burly men armed with weapons, she burst into tears.

She rushed forward, positioning herself in front of Zhao Rong. ”You two, why are you pointing a shotgun and a bow at my Brother Zhao Rong?”

Seeing a beautiful woman suddenly appear—a stunning one at that—the two thugs exchanged a lecherous grin.

”Well now, look what we have here. A beauty, serving herself up on a platter. How about this: first, I’ll kill this little security guard. Then we take this girl into a room. I’ll take the front... you take the back...”

Zhao Rong was taken aback by Wang Meili’s sudden appearance. He quickly pulled her behind him.

”Meili, what are you doing here? Get back and watch how I take care of these two scumbags.”

With that, Zhao Rong stood protectively in front of Wang Meili, facing down the two hulking men armed with a shotgun and a bow.
