Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 171: Chapter 145 Walking Through Time

When the God of Gamblers tossed 5,000,000 in cash onto the table, he sneered coldly at Zhao Rong and said, ”Kid, we have a rule in this mahjong parlor. If a player can’t produce enough cash to cover a bet, they must concede defeat, hand over all the chips they’ve won, and get the hell out.”

This poor kid in front of me would be lucky to have 50,000, let alone 5,000,000 in cash. It looks like I’ll be able to crush him without even needing to play.

When the lackeys standing behind the God of Gamblers saw him produce 5,000,000 in cash while Zhao Rong had nothing, they immediately showered him with scorn and ridicule.

A sharp-faced, simian-featured lackey mocked Zhao Rong, saying, ”Kid, have you ever even seen this much money in your life? You look like a total pauper. If you have even 5,000 yuan in your bank account, I’ll call you grandpa.”

Another shifty-eyed lackey sneered, ”Hey, kid in the gas mask, you look so pathetic, you obviously don’t have a dime to your name. Coming here to gamble? You’re so far out of your league it’s laughable...”

The surrounding crowd of gamblers also felt it was impossible for Zhao Rong to produce that kind of cash.

”Young man, since you have no cash, you might as well hand over your chips and leave,” said a gambler who had been to prison several times for illegal gambling.

A man who had sold his house to pay off gambling debts looked at Zhao Rong and said, ”If you don’t have the money, don’t act tough. Kneel and apologize to the God of Gamblers. If you’re lucky, he’ll let you off with only one broken arm.”

Just as everyone was convinced Zhao Rong was a penniless nobody, a sudden knock echoed from the mahjong parlor’s door. Two employees from a Swiss bank walked in, carrying a large case between them.

The two foreigners walked up to Zhao Rong and said in broken Chinese, ”Mr. Zhao Rong, you are a valued client of our Swiss bank. As per your request, we have delivered 50,000,000 in cash to your specified location. Please verify the amount.”

When the God of Gamblers saw that Zhao Rong was not only far from poor but was a major client of a Swiss bank with 50,000,000 in cash, he was so terrified he nearly pissed blood. ”You really can’t judge a book by its cover,” he stammered, the color draining from his face. ”I’d never have imagined... This kid is a hidden tycoon.”

Seeing the two foreigners deliver 50,000,000 in cash to Zhao Rong, the surrounding gamblers were so shocked they collapsed to the floor.

”I always thought the God of Gamblers was the richest man in this parlor,” one gambler said, chewing on a betel nut. ”But now I see this kid in the gas mask is the real moneybags.”

Another gambler, wearing a counterfeit Adidas jacket and a fake Yeltsin belt, added, ”Looks like it’s time for a new God of Gamblers. This kid isn’t just a god in terms of skill, but with that kind of cash, he’s number one in the world, no question.”

Zhao Rong turned to the two bank employees. ”No need to count. Take 10,000 yuan each as a tip and fly back to Switzerland.”

He then reached into the case, pulled out 5,000,000 in cash, and threw it onto the table, saying to the God of Gamblers, ”How do you want to play? You name it.”

Facing Zhao Rong’s intimidating presence, the God of Gamblers wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said timidly, ”The same as before. We’ll roll dice and bet on high or low.”

Zhao Rong smiled. ”Then let’s begin.”

The God of Gamblers shook the dice cup, set it down on the table, and declared, ”I’m still betting on high.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong took two puffs from a cigar, had his assistant open a bottle of Lafite, and took a sip before saying, ”Since you’re betting on high, I’ll continue to bet on low.”

As he spoke, the God of Gamblers placed his hand on the cup. As he prepared to lift it, he simultaneously activated his Instant Teleportation. At the same moment, Zhao Rong did the same.

As both men used Instant Teleportation, the world around them seemed to freeze. Time stood still for everyone but the two of them as they moved through the silent room.

Being closer to the dice, the God of Gamblers reached the cup first and began to adjust the dice. After switching them to show a high roll, he laughed to himself.

I adjusted the dice at the very last second... Zhao Rong, prepare to lose.

However, before his laughter could fade, he saw Zhao Rong appear and switch the dice back to a low roll.

Suddenly, the God of Gamblers understood. His jaw dropped in astonishment. ”Kid,” he gasped, ”you have Special Abilities too? You can use Instant Teleportation?”

Zhao Rong looked up at him. ”I actually thought you were a real God of Gamblers. I never imagined you only became one by cheating. It’s true what they say: the more legendary the gambler, the bigger the cheat. All these so-called ’Gods of Gamblers’ and ’Saints of Gambling’ are just a bunch of frauds.”

Furious at being exposed, the God of Gamblers snarled, ”Kid, since you know my secret, you won’t be leaving this mahjong parlor alive today!” With a furious roar, he yelled, ”Yellow-rank advanced Martial Technique, Pegasus Meteor Fist!”

His fist shot toward Zhao Rong.

Facing the Pegasus Meteor Fist, Zhao Rong simply ducked his head to avoid the blow, then countered with a Scorpion Tail Swing kick. The kick landed squarely on the God of Gamblers’s face, sending him flying backward before he crashed heavily to the ground.

Spitting blood, the God of Gamblers struggled to his feet. He glared at Zhao Rong. ”Kid, it seems you’ve got some moves. In that case, I’ll use my trump card! Mysterious-rank intermediate Martial Technique, Meteor Butterfly Fist!”

Kid, that Yellow-rank technique was nothing. Now that I’m using a Mysterious-rank intermediate Martial Technique, let’s see you dodge this!

Just as the God of Gamblers was certain his attack was unavoidable, Zhao Rong leaped behind his own assistant, drove a fist into the assistant’s stomach, and shouted, ”Mysterious-rank advanced Martial Technique, Distant Mountain Strike!”

Standing behind the assistant, the God of Gamblers saw Zhao Rong hide and then inexplicably punch his own subordinate. He burst out laughing. ”You fool! Even if you’re terrified of me killing you with one punch, you don’t hide behind your own man and attack him! What a spineless coward.”

But as he was mocking Zhao Rong, the Distant Mountain Strike passed straight through the assistant and slammed violently into the God of Gamblers’s chest.

A searing pain erupted in his torso. Then, he heard it—the sickening sound of his own ribs cracking, one after another.
