Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 169: Chapter 143 Teaching a Lesson to the God of Gamblers

However, before Zhao Rong and his assistant could step into the salon, two burly men stormed out, cursing.

”Damn it!” the bearded man swore angrily. ”Standing at the door was a beauty in her twenties, but inside was a woman in her forties. What a turn-off...”

The muscular man roared, ”The woman at the door had fair skin and was young and beautiful, but the one inside had sallow skin and was old and faded...”

As the two men left, Zhao Rong and his assistant, who had been about to enter, turned and walked away as well. Zhao Rong couldn’t help but shake his head. It seems I can’t go into salons anymore. They aren’t just unhealthy; they’re dangerous...

Soon, Zhao Rong and his assistant arrived at a mahjong parlor in the urban village. The moment Zhao Rong stepped inside, the thick smoke choked him and he rushed back out. He coughed a few times and grumbled, ”Ugh, can’t the people playing mahjong in there smoke a little less? You could die from the fumes!” With that, he went to a small nearby shop, bought a gas mask, put it on, and walked back inside.

Inside the mahjong parlor, Zhao Rong saw a man with slicked-back, greasy hair, wearing a trench coat and a tie. Dressed like a character from a gangster film, he was holding a bowl and shaking dice before a crowd. The assistant came over and explained, ”Zhao Rong, that guy with the greasy hair is the so-called ’God of Gamblers.’ He’s the one who won all my money.”

Seeing this pretentious man, the supposed ’God of Gamblers,’ Zhao Rong smiled. ”Since you’re the ’God of Gamblers,’ then I, Zhao Rong, will have a go with you.” With that said, he squeezed his way into the crowd.

The God of Gamblers had just finished shaking the dice and was letting everyone place their bets. After everyone had bet, he would bet on the opposite outcome and then open the bowl. Miraculously, no matter what anyone bet, the God of Gamblers was always right, and the crowd was always wrong. Seeing this incredible scene, Zhao Rong immediately joined in.

When the God of Gamblers shook the dice and called for bets, everyone bet high. Zhao Rong followed suit and also bet high. Seeing this, the God of Gamblers bet low.

Just as the God of Gamblers was about to lift the bowl, Zhao Rong instantly activated his Special Ability, Instant Teleportation. Moving at a speed invisible to the naked eye, he appeared beside the God of Gamblers and peeked under the bowl. When he saw that the result was indeed low, he immediately swapped the dice to change the outcome to high. After making the switch, he returned to the crowd, still moving at an imperceptible speed.

Now, the God of Gamblers began to reveal the dice. He laughed maniacally, boasting, ”In this world, only I, the God of Gamblers, can predict the outcome in the bowl...”

However, when he lifted the bowl, he froze. The dice inside showed high, not low.

In an instant, the God of Gamblers was completely stunned. Impossible! I clearly used my own Special Abilities, Instant Teleportation, to change the dice in the bowl. How did it suddenly switch from low to high?

In sharp contrast to his shock, the surrounding gamblers were overjoyed.

”After a whole day, my luck has finally turned! I’m starting to win!” a gambler, who had once been wealthy but was now destitute, said with a laugh. ”It seems if I just keep gambling, I’ll make my fortune back one day...”

”My luck is turning around! I’m finally going to make it big!” exclaimed another man, who had lost his wife, children, and home to his addiction.

”God of Gamblers, you’ve finally slipped up!” said an excited gambler who had once been a successful businessman at the peak of his career, only to lose everything to gambling.

As his money was swept away by the other gamblers, the God of Gamblers immediately became alert. He activated his Eyes of Golden Flame, his gaze piercing as he scanned the crowd. Suddenly, he pointed at Zhao Rong. ”Kid! Hey, I’m talking to you, the man with the ’pig snout’!”

Zhao Rong looked up at him. ”This is a gas mask, not a ’pig snout.’ For someone with such greasy hair, you sure are ignorant.”

The God of Gamblers stepped down from the platform. ”Kid, do you dare to challenge me one-on-one?” As he spoke, he snapped his fingers. A subordinate immediately brought over a suitcase and opened it, revealing five million in cash.

Zhao Rong had been looking for a chance to teach the man a lesson and get revenge for his assistant. Hearing the challenge, he replied eagerly, ”Sure! Let’s have a go.”

When the surrounding crowd heard that the young man in the gas mask had accepted the God of Gamblers’ challenge, they were all dumbfounded.

”Young man, how can you accept his challenge? Are you looking to die?” said an old man who had nine of his ten fingers cut off for cheating at gambling, clearly not optimistic about Zhao Rong’s chances.

”Kid, you dare gamble with the God of Gamblers? I bet you’ll lose everything but your underwear,” advised a man whose life had been ruined by his gambling addiction.

”You fool with the gas mask,” jeered a man who had lost his job due to gambling. ”If you can beat the God of Gamblers, pigs will fly.”

Clearly, no one believed Zhao Rong stood a chance. Hearing the crowd’s comments, the God of Gamblers’ confidence swelled. He sneered at Zhao Rong, ”Kid, let’s get started. I’m going to make sure you leave here without a stitch on.”

With that, he began to shake the dice. Once he was done, he asked, ”Kid, are you betting high or low?”

An idea struck Zhao Rong. ”You bet first. I’ll bet after you.”

The God of Gamblers chuckled. ”Alright, I’ll go first then.” He then immediately used his Special Abilities, Instant Teleportation. At a speed invisible to the naked eye, he lifted the bowl, checked the dice, and set it back down. What Zhao Rong didn’t know was that the God of Gamblers possessed the exact same type of Special Abilities as he did. However, the God of Gamblers’ Special Abilities weren’t as powerful as Zhao Rong’s. After checking the dice, he announced with immense confidence, ”Zhao Rong, I bet low.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong quickly activated his own Special Abilities, Instant Teleportation. He dashed over at an imperceptible speed, lifted the bowl, and changed the dice inside from low to high. Then, he covered the bowl and returned to his spot. Back in his position, Zhao Rong stated just as confidently, ”I bet high.”

Although they both possessed the same Special Abilities, neither of them was aware of the other’s power.

The God of Gamblers looked at Zhao Rong and thought, Fool. I’ve already used my Special Abilities to change the dice to low. Just you wait to lose!

Meanwhile, Zhao Rong looked right back at him. Idiot. I just changed the dice from low to high. You’re the one who’s going to lose.

As the God of Gamblers lifted the bowl, he addressed the crowd. ”Everyone watch closely! This time, I’m going to make this kid lose so badly he won’t know what hit him! He’ll be crushed, utterly defeated, and sent crying home to his mommy!”

The surrounding people, believing him completely, chanted loudly, ”The God of Gamblers will win! The God of Gamblers will win!”

In contrast to the God of Gamblers’ arrogance, Zhao Rong just smiled faintly, completely unflappable.

The moment the God of Gamblers opened the bowl and saw the dice inside, he was utterly thunderstruck. He looked at Zhao Rong, trembling. ”This is impossible...”

Zhao Rong sneered, sweeping up the chips the God of Gamblers had lost. ”The world is vast and full of wonders. Nothing is impossible. Now, hand over the chips.”

With that, Zhao Rong won the first round against the God of Gamblers and began to count the value of his winnings.
