Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 165: Chapter 139: Infinite Power, Comparable to a Skunk

Zhao Rong was chanting a spell while making hand gestures, looking just like a professional ghost catcher. In truth, he had no idea how to catch ghosts; he was just putting on a show to impress the beautiful women and keep them from being frightened.

When the women behind him saw Zhao Rong seemingly performing an exorcism, they let out a cheer.

Lili, who had been terrified just a moment ago, suddenly perked up. ”I never imagined Brother Zhao Rong could also catch ghosts. He’s a man of many talents!”

Yu Lan, who had been scared half to death, wasn’t afraid anymore. Watching Zhao Rong’s every move, she stepped forward and said, ”Brother Zhao Rong, you’re amazing! I only thought you knew martial arts, but I never imagined you knew spells too. This is simply beyond belief.”

Xuelian, who had been too scared to make a sound, even started to mock the female ghost at the door. ”You ghost, no matter how tough you are, we’re not afraid of you, because we have Brother Zhao Rong here! Hmph...” With that, she spat in the female ghost’s direction.

Standing at the very back, Wang Meili was also completely stunned. ”Ever since I enrolled at Xi Jing University, I’ve been coming to the lab building for evening study sessions. I’d heard rumors that this place was haunted, but I’d never seen anything myself. Today, I actually saw a ghost. But even so, I’m not scared, because Brother Zhao Rong, the ghost catcher, is here...”

Hearing the praise from the women, Zhao Rong felt his bravado waver, but he said, ”Don’t be afraid, everyone. When I was a teenager, I spent some time on Mount Mao learning the art of ghost catching. So, I’m not just a bodyguard; I’m a ghost catcher too. As long as I, Zhao Rong, am here, this female ghost will absolutely not get into the classroom.”

However, before Zhao Rong could finish his sentence, the female ghost, who had somehow appeared behind them, spoke. ”Is that so? Do you really think you can stop me?”

It turned out that while Zhao Rong had been talking, the female ghost had already slipped through a crack in the door and entered the classroom.

Seeing the ghost suddenly appear behind them, the women froze for a second and then screamed, scrambling to hide behind Zhao Rong.

When he saw that the female ghost had gotten inside, Zhao Rong felt a spike of fear, but he quickly reminded himself: Zhao Rong, you can’t be afraid. In this entire classroom, you’re the only one who can protect them. You have to be brave.

Thus, despite his inner terror, Zhao Rong showed no sign of cowardice. He roared at the female ghost, ”You! If you know what’s good for you, get lost! Otherwise, this ghost-catching youth isn’t going to be so polite.” With that, he struck a fighting pose.

Seeing this, the female ghost was not intimidated in the slightest. On the contrary, she advanced on them step by step. ”Kid, don’t try to scare me. You think I don’t know you’re just an ordinary human teenager and not a ghost catcher at all?”

Finishing her words, the female ghost lunged at the group.

Zhao Rong immediately shot a kick at her, but his foot passed through her body as if through empty air, having no effect whatsoever. He followed up with a punch, but when his fist connected, it was still like hitting nothing. There was no reaction at all.

When Zhao Rong realized his kicks and punches were completely useless, he began to panic. In a desperate move, he hawked up a thick glob of phlegm and spat it at the female ghost.

Like a small bomb, the phlegm exploded on impact, knocking her to the ground. Seeing his own phlegm had actually felled the ghost, Zhao Rong couldn’t help but forcefully cough up another wad. ”Holy crap!” he exclaimed. ”I never knew my phlegm was so lethal to ghosts!”

After being blasted to the floor, the female ghost struggled to her feet. She stared at Zhao Rong in disbelief. ”Kid, I underestimated you. You’ve got a few tricks up your sleeve. What kind of weapon are you hiding in your mouth?”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong tried to remember what he’d had for lunch. He’d eaten noodles, but he’d also eaten a clove of garlic with them. What Zhao Rong didn’t know was that his lunch had included not only garlic, but also peaches and garlic chives. These foods were all inherently evil-repelling substances with a certain potency against fierce ghosts. After being ingested, the combination had mixed with his gastric juices, creating a chemical reaction in his body that produced a powerful ghost-catching weapon: a peach-garlic-chive compound. This substance was primarily concentrated in his phlegm, which explained why it had such a dramatic effect when he spat at the female ghost.

The women behind Zhao Rong watched, dumbfounded, as the stuff he spat out seemingly exploded on contact with the ghost.

Lili’s eyes went wide with amazement. ”Wow, Brother Zhao Rong really is a ghost-catching youth! I have no idea what kind of weapon he spat, but it actually explodes!”

Yu Lan sized him up, licking her lips. ”Brother Zhao Rong, you’re so powerful. What was that thing you launched from your mouth that could make a ghost explode? That’s incredible!”

Xuelian also looked at Zhao Rong in disbelief. ”Brother Zhao Rong, you’re a true ghost-catching hero. That thing you spat is so strong...” After this is over, I have to see what kind of weapon Brother Zhao Rong is hiding in his mouth, she thought. I’ve got to get a good look at it and play with it myself.

When Zhao Rong saw his phlegm could actually blast the female ghost, he too was stunned. He took a step forward and said, ”Ghost, I don’t want to hurt you. If you leave Xi Jing University now and promise to stop harming people, I’ll let you go.”

Hearing this, the ghost burst out laughing. ”Young man, don’t think you can catch me just because your spit knocked me down. Now, let me show you what I can really do!” With that, she extended two blood-soaked claws and lunged at Zhao Rong.

Seeing her charge, Zhao Rong forcefully gathered another mouthful of phlegm and spat it at her. The ghost simply ducked her head and dodged it. He quickly mustered another glob and spat again, but the ghost sidestepped, evading it easily.

At this point, Zhao Rong’s mouth was dry; he couldn’t produce any more phlegm. As the ghost closed in, her sharp fangs and claws about to kill him, she cackled maniacally. ”Young man, I’ll kill you first, then I’ll slowly kill the pretty little things behind you...”

Seeing the ghost pounce, Zhao Rong was out of options. He sighed. Better to give her my back than to get my face clawed to death, he thought. At least I’ll die in one piece.

And so, Zhao Rong turned his back on her.

But as he did, his stomach suddenly felt like a churning sea. Involuntarily, a loud fart blasted out from behind him. A thick cloud of evil-repelling gas struck the female ghost directly. Because Zhao Rong had eaten so many evil-repelling foods for lunch, his fart was like poison gas to the ghost. When it hit her, she reacted as if she’d been exposed to hydrogen sulfide.

The once-arrogant ghost stumbled back two steps from the blast of Zhao Rong’s gas, then collapsed onto the ground. Dazed, she muttered, ”Damn it, human boy! I can’t believe you were carrying ghost-catching poison gas. You’re ruthless...”

Seeing that he had stunned the ghost with his own fart, Zhao Rong froze, his eyes wide. What the hell? First, my spit takes down a fierce ghost, and now my fart has knocked one out? Do all ghost catchers in this world rely on spitting and farting to do their job?

Just then, he felt his stomach churn again. He turned sheepishly to the women beside him. ”I’m about to use my secret weapon, the poison gas bomb. You all should probably step outside the classroom and take cover...”

Hearing this, the women quickly scurried out of the room. The assistant, however, stayed behind. What secret weapon is this kid Zhao Rong going to use? Is he afraid someone will learn it? No way. I have to stay and steal his techniques. That way, I’ll be able to catch ghosts and show off in front of the girls, too!

Seeing that the women had left, Zhao Rong leaped into the air, executed a full 360-degree turn, and aimed his rear end squarely at the female ghost, who was just getting to her feet. ”Ghost,” he shouted, ”taste my secret weapon!”

With that, Zhao Rong let loose a silent, super-stinky fart. Its power was incredible, comparable to that of a skunk. The ghost had just managed to stand up and had no time to react before the stench knocked her unconscious, and she collapsed to the floor.

After landing, Zhao Rong quickly took off his red short-sleeved shirt and wrapped it around the prone ghost. He knew that as long as a ghost was wrapped in red cloth, it could not escape. But just as he finished securing it, she suddenly regained consciousness.

”Sir, please show mercy!” she begged. ”I am Chen Na! Please, just let me go so I can reincarnate.”

Hearing that the ghost in front of him was Chen Na, one of the school’s notorious ’Four Evil Girls,’ Zhao Rong was astonished. He looked down at her. ”Chen Na? Weren’t you missing? How did you suddenly become a ghost?”

Tears streamed down her face. ”Zhao Rong, you don’t know what happened. That day, when we Four Evil Girls ran into you at school, you kicked me so hard I flew over the wall and landed in a pig farmer’s truck. He took me all the way to the ravine-filled loess plateau and locked me in a cave dwelling to be his wife. One day, I tried to escape, but I accidentally fell into a ditch and died. Zhao Rong, I couldn’t accept such a death! So when I became a ghost, I came back to the school to get my revenge...”

Hearing Chen Na’s story, Zhao Rong was floored. He couldn’t believe his kick had sent her all the way to the loess plateau and turned her into a vengeful ghost.

Just as Zhao Rong was about to release Chen Na and let her go to reincarnate, the school principal suddenly entered the room, accompanied by a Taoist holding a ghost-catching bottle.
