Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 96: Chapter 82: Treating the Sick and Saving Lives, Meeting the Village Belle

Seeing the chairman’s anxious expression, Zhao Rong comforted him. ”Chairman, don’t worry. For men, the Forgetfulness Elixir works immediately, causing them to forget the events of today and yesterday. As for women, they first feel a wave of heat, then desire... and only at the very end will they also forget what happened today and yesterday...”

Hearing that women would experience heat and desire after taking the elixir, the chairman hurriedly stepped forward. He began dressing his secretary while exclaiming, ”Zhao Rong, she’s my lover! How could I let her just undress like that?”

The words had barely left his mouth when the chairman realized his mistake. He had just let another secret slip.

Although Zhao Rong was shocked to learn that the secretary was the chairman’s lover, he pretended not to have heard. ”Chairman, the secretary has already passed the periods of heat and desire. She has likely forgotten everything that happened yesterday and today.”

Hearing this, the chairman looked at his secretary in disbelief. ”Cang... about those documents I asked you to stamp yesterday, have you finished?”

Slowly emerging from her daze, the secretary looked at the chairman with a blank expression. ”Chairman? How did I get here? Where are we? And what did you ask me to do yesterday? I seem to have forgotten everything...”

Seeing that the secretary had truly forgotten all about the past two days, the chairman’s admiration for Zhao Rong grew. ”Zhao Rong, I never would have guessed you were so incredible! You managed to concoct the Forgetfulness Elixir without a large medicine cauldron or Samadhi Fire. You’re practically a Medicine God!”

Hearing the chairman’s praise, Zhao Rong said pointedly, ”Chairman, weren’t you and the secretary just questioning my alchemical abilities? You said I was an imposter who didn’t know how to make elixirs... that it would have been better to just take the herbs to a professional Alchemy Room...”

The chairman’s face flushed with embarrassment. ”Ah, I was blind and failed to recognize your greatness. I wronged you...”

After saying this, the chairman explained everything that had happened to the now-confused secretary. When she heard how skilled Zhao Rong was at alchemy, she couldn’t help but say with admiration, ”Zhao Rong, I had no idea you were so talented. You’re like a Medicine God incarnate!”

Hearing the praise from both the chairman and the secretary, Zhao Rong could only shrug helplessly, as if to say that making elixirs was a piece of cake for him.

Shortly after Zhao Rong administered the Forgetfulness Elixir to his assistant, the man began to stir. The assistant woke up squinting, looking at his surroundings as if he were still dreaming.

”I haven’t had an erotic dream in months,” he mumbled. ”And I finally have one today... but to think I’d dream of a female secretary, one wearing black stockings, no less. It looks like I’ll get to rip some stockings today...”

With that, the assistant scrambled up from the floor and lunged toward the female secretary.

Just as he was about to tackle the woman to the ground, the chairman leaped into the air. He executed a perfect flying spinning kick, sending the assistant flying away from his secretary. Zhao Rong was stunned. The chairman was over fifty, with old arms and legs and a beer belly, yet he had just displayed such an impressive kick.

After sending the assistant flying, the chairman landed and struck a cool pose. ”Zhao Rong, I forgot to tell you. I used to be a Taekwondo black belt.”

Hearing that the chairman held the highest rank in Taekwondo, Zhao Rong couldn’t help but feel a new sense of respect. ”Chairman, you truly hide your skills well...”

Before Zhao Rong could finish his sentence, the chairman suddenly collapsed to the ground in pain. He clutched his leg, cursing, ”Damn it! I tore a ligament showing off.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong winced and took a sharp breath. Age spares no one.

Just then, the assistant climbed back to his feet. He looked at the chairman, the secretary, and Zhao Rong a short distance away and exclaimed, ”Whoa, so I wasn’t dreaming! This is all real.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong admonished him, ”You little brat, you were just about to assault the secretary! Are you tired of living?”

The assistant quickly turned to the chairman to apologize. ”Chairman, I’m so sorry! I really thought I was dreaming, so I went over to tear the secretary’s black stockings...”

”So you showed your true colors, is that it?” the chairman cut him off. ”Assistant, you’re worse than a beast!”

Scolded by the chairman, the assistant looked at Zhao Rong with confusion in his eyes. ”Zhao Rong, where are we? How did I get here? Also, why do I suddenly feel like I’ve lost my memory?”

Listening to the assistant, the chairman once again gave Zhao Rong a thumbs-up. ”Zhao Rong, you’re incredible! Not only can you cultivate, but you can also concoct elixirs...”

Hearing the chairman’s praise, the assistant asked Zhao Rong curiously, ”Zhao Rong, what elixir did you make?”

Zhao Rong decided to hide the truth. ”What other elixir would I make? Medicine to heal the sick and save lives, of course.”

The assistant’s mind raced. ”So you made an elixir just to wake me from my coma?” He then frowned. But why was I in a coma in the first place?

Zhao Rong seized the opportunity. ”That’s right. I concocted an elixir and saved you from a long coma.”

This assistant is so easy to fool.

However, before Zhao Rong could finish the thought, an old village woman approached them. She looked at Zhao Rong and asked, ”Divine Doctor, what did you just say? You woke this young man up from a coma?”

Seeing the woman who had appeared out of nowhere, Zhao Rong was about to speak, but the assistant beat him to it. ”That’s right! My big brother Zhao Rong can cultivate, charm women, concoct elixirs, and even heal the sick!”

The assistant had intended to brag a little to get on Zhao Rong’s good side. He never imagined that the old village woman happened to have a daughter—the village beauty—who had been lying comatose on the kang at home for years, waiting for a cure.

When the old woman heard the assistant call Zhao Rong a Divine Doctor, she immediately dropped to her knees before him. ”Divine Doctor, since you are a Divine Doctor who can cultivate and concoct elixirs, I beg you, please save my daughter! She’s been in a coma for several years because of some unknown illness and just won’t wake up...”

Zhao Rong was taken aback. I may know how to concoct elixirs, but as for healing the sick... I’ve never actually tried it before, have I?

He tried to tactfully decline the old woman’s request. ”Auntie, although I can concoct elixirs, I’ve never awakened a patient who has been in a coma for several years.”

Hearing Zhao Rong’s reluctance, the old woman remained on her knees, pleading, ”Divine Doctor, if you were able to awaken this young man from his coma, then you must be able to awaken my daughter from hers!”

Seeing the woman’s desperate expression, Zhao Rong shot an angry glare at his assistant. ”This is all your fault! I don’t have any medical skills, so how am I supposed to heal anyone?”

As Zhao Rong was scolding the assistant, the old woman spoke again. ”Divine Doctor, I’m not demanding that you wake my daughter. I’ve already sought out every miracle medicine and Divine Doctor there is. I’m only asking you to try. What if you succeed? Don’t be afraid. Even if you can’t save her, I won’t blame you or cause any trouble. Please, just come back with me and take a look at my daughter.”

With that, the old village woman took Zhao Rong by the hand and led him toward a luxuriously decorated compound at the eastern end of the village.

When the other villagers saw the old woman leading another ”doctor” into the village, a wave of discussion rippled through the crowd.

A young village girl, cracking sunflower seeds, looked at Zhao Rong and remarked, ”Our village beauty has been comatose in that bed for years. I don’t believe this kid can wake her.”

A woman known for her gossip stood at the village entrance, sizing up Zhao Rong from head to toe. ”Countless famous doctors have tried to treat the village beauty, and all of them failed. If this guy can actually cure her, I’ll take his last name.”

Another village woman, jealous that her neighbor’s house was better built than her own, scoffed, ”Look at him, he’s just a student. No hair on his chin, completely unreliable. An eighty-year-old master of traditional medicine couldn’t save her, and this boy thinks he can? He’s delusional.”

Amidst the chorus of doubt and ridicule, Zhao Rong followed the woman into the courtyard. As soon as they were inside, she said to him, ”Young man, let me be honest with you. My daughter is the most beautiful girl in this village. If you can wake her from her coma, then I will betroth her to you.”

Hearing the woman offer her daughter’s hand in marriage, Zhao Rong immediately declined. ”Auntie, thank you for your kind offer, but I’m not looking to get married right now.”

The woman looked at him and said, ”Don’t be afraid! When I marry my daughter off, not only will I not ask for a single cent of bride price, I’ll even provide a generous dowry...”

As she spoke, she pulled Zhao Rong into a girl’s boudoir.

The moment Zhao Rong stepped inside, the Dragon Crystal in his pocket began to stir restlessly...
