Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 77: Chapter 69: The Beauty’s Scheme, Ulterior Motives

Zhao Rong was momentarily taken aback by Medusa’s sudden enthusiasm. He looked at her and said, ”Medusa, you’ve been so cold and distant since you arrived at the villa. Why the sudden warmth today?”

Medusa looked at Zhao Rong and placed some food on his plate. ”I just wasn’t used to this place at first,” she said. ”Now that I’ve settled in, I realize you’re all good people, so I’ve let my guard down.”

Hearing that she had let her guard down, Zhao Rong said happily, ”That’s good to hear. We’re all family here, so there’s no need to be so reserved.”

Medusa nodded. ”Exactly. So, I took this opportunity to have the Assistant prepare hotpot for everyone as a thank you.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong felt that something about her words was strange. If she wanted to thank everyone, why did she have the Assistant cook instead of doing it herself? Could it be... she and the Assistant are now a thing?

Thinking of this, Zhao Rong glanced from the Assistant to Medusa and said with a grin, ”You two, could it be...?”

At Zhao Rong’s words, Tao Hua seemed to realize it too. Ever since Medusa moved in, the Assistant had been completely at her beck and call, accepting any scolding without a single complaint.

Thus, Tao Hua directly congratulated them. ”Well, let me be the first to congratulate you two then. By the way, when should we expect an invitation to the wedding?”

Hearing Tao Hua mention a wedding, the Assistant was overjoyed. While stuffing his face with hotpot, he said, ”I’m ready anytime! It’s all up to Medusa.”

Seeing the Assistant gobbling down the very hotpot she had drugged, which Zhao Rong and Tao Hua hadn’t even touched, Medusa said to him, annoyed, ”Didn’t I just tell you to eat less so everyone else could have more? What are you—”

The Assistant, unable to stop eating, interrupted her. ”We thought all the ladies would be coming down... but it’s just the few of us now. Are you worried I’ll eat so much that Zhao Rong and Tao Hua won’t get any?”

With that, the Assistant continued to devour the food as if he hadn’t seen hotpot in eight lifetimes.

Watching the Assistant about to finish off the entire pot, Medusa cursed inwardly, I’m here to drug Zhao Rong and Tao Hua, not you, you idiot!

After silently cursing the Assistant, Medusa turned to urge the others. ”There isn’t much hotpot left. You two should eat quickly before the Assistant finishes it all.”

At her words, Tao Hua picked up her chopsticks. However, as she picked up a piece of lettuce to cook, she noticed not only a small bug on it but also caked-on mud. Frowning, she put the lettuce down and grabbed a pig’s trotter instead. But as she was about to eat it, she saw several coarse hairs that hadn’t been plucked. Instantly, what little appetite she had vanished.

She put down her chopsticks and thought, No wonder everyone says the Assistant is unhygienic. It’s true. The other girls were smart not to come down and eat this hotpot.

Just as Tao Hua was feeling disgusted by the Assistant’s lack of hygiene, the man himself, his mouth slick with grease, said, ”Tao Hua, why aren’t you eating? Let me tell you, when I cook, I’m extremely thorough. Not only did I wash the vegetables three times, but I also plucked every single hair from these pig’s trotters one by one...”

Hearing the Assistant’s boasting, Tao Hua scoffed internally, I’ve seen people lie through their teeth before, but I’ve never seen anyone do it so shamelessly...

Before the Assistant could finish, Tao Hua made an excuse, standing up and pretending to take a call as she walked back toward her room.

Seeing Tao Hua leave without eating, Medusa angrily whirled on the Assistant. ”You pighead! You’re just so damn greedy.”

The Assistant simply smiled at her, revealing teeth flecked with bits of greens. ”A man needs to eat to have strength. And with strength, I can perform well at night and make sure you’re satisfied...”

Medusa thought, Oh, great, he’s already hallucinating. Because he had eaten so much hotpot, the Assistant had ingested a large dose of the snake powder. He was already seeing Medusa as his bride, ready for their wedding night.

Noticing that Zhao Rong still hadn’t touched his food, Medusa personally added some to his bowl. ”Zhao Rong, you should eat too. The Assistant cooked it himself; it would be a waste not to.”

Seeing Medusa serve him personally, Zhao Rong felt too embarrassed to refuse and finally began to eat.

As Medusa watched Zhao Rong start to tuck in, she thought gleefully, The snake-like monster, the masked man, and the gecko-man couldn’t kill you, but I, Medusa, can do it with ease. Just keep eating the hotpot I prepared for you. Keep ingesting my snake powder... Once you start hallucinating, you’ll see just how formidable I am.

The once-full hotpot was soon gone. The Assistant had eaten two-thirds, and Zhao Rong had eaten one-third. Seeing how much Zhao Rong had consumed, Medusa concluded that the snake powder was beginning to take effect. In just a little while, when the hallucinations begin, he’ll wander into my room and lie down on my bed...

Just as Medusa felt that success was within her grasp, Zhao Rong clutched his stomach. ”Damn it! Why do I get diarrhea every time I eat hotpot? This time is no exception.” With that, he bolted for the bathroom.

Seeing Zhao Rong get diarrhea, Medusa almost fainted from rage. Damn it! How could I be so unlucky? My first plan failed because Zhao Rong’s sinusitis prevented him from smelling my fragrance. Now, my second plan is failing because the snake powder he ingested was flushed out by his diarrhea before it could be absorbed!

Clearly, Medusa’s second plan had also ended in failure.

A short while later, Zhao Rong emerged from the bathroom, sweating and holding his stomach. ”Jeez, that hotpot was way too spicy. It didn’t just burn my mouth, it burned on the way out too.”

After saying this, he looked at the remnants of the ’Three Delicacies’ broth he had eaten. That’s weird, I was eating the non-spicy broth. How could it burn down there?

Seeing Zhao Rong was otherwise fine, Medusa cursed his bout of diarrhea, but she also felt a glimmer of relief knowing she still had one more dose of snake powder. As she poured him a glass of juice, she stealthily drugged it.

Once the powder was dissolved, she handed it to him. ”Zhao Rong, your stomach is upset. Have some juice to cool down.”

Zhao Rong was feeling both parched and pained by the spice. Just as he was about to take the glass, the Assistant snatched it away. ”Sorry, Zhao Rong! I just ate a Thai chili and my mouth is on fire... I’ll just use this to cool down, and I’ll pour you another one in a sec.”

Before anyone could react, the Assistant chugged the entire glass of juice that Medusa had spiked for Zhao Rong.

When Medusa saw her carefully laid trap—the juice filled with snake powder—consumed by the Assistant, she felt her mind go blank. The Assistant is nothing but a troublemaker! No matter how carefully I plan, his ignorance and recklessness always ruin everything.

Zhao Rong, seeing the juice he desperately wanted to drink disappear down the Assistant’s throat, snapped angrily, ”Assistant, can’t you control yourself? Medusa poured that for me, how could you just drink it?”

Having finished the juice, the Assistant was now fully hallucinating. He suddenly stared at a nearby pillar. ”Whoa, there’s a beauty over there!”

With that, he ran over to the pillar and began kissing it.

Zhao Rong was dumbfounded as he watched the Assistant hug and make out with one of the main support pillars of the villa. How desperate is this guy? He won’t even spare a pillar!

At that moment, Yu Lan looked down from her window on the second floor and saw the Assistant gnawing on the pillar. Her jaw dropped in shock. ”My god, that Assistant has no standards at all. How disgraceful.”

Miss Lili, who was applying a face mask, took one look at the unbelievable scene and gasped. ”Ugh, a man like that is worse than an animal.”

Xuelian, who was applying a facial treatment, watched the Assistant’s bizarre movements and wondered, Is he trying to pole dance? If so, isn’t that pillar a little too thick for it?

Medusa watched the Assistant, thinking bitterly, That’s a scene Zhao Rong should be performing. But what can I do? You’re the one who drank his juice.

Sitting at the table, Zhao Rong couldn’t watch any longer. He got up and tried to pull the Assistant away, but the man was latched on tight and wouldn’t budge. Frustrated, Zhao Rong slapped him hard across the face twice, hoping to snap him out of it.

However, the slaps only made the Assistant worse. He looked up at a lightbulb on the ceiling. ”Wow, it’s so big... and so round... I have to grab it...”

Hearing the Assistant fantasize about a lightbulb as if it were a beautiful woman’s... assets, Zhao Rong couldn’t take it anymore. This has to stop now, or he’s really going to cause some trouble.

Zhao Rong executed a quick front flip, brought his leg down in a powerful axe kick onto the Assistant’s head, and knocked him out cold. He then hoisted the unconscious man over his shoulder and carried him back to his room.

After dropping the Assistant off, Zhao Rong came back out. But just as he stepped out of the room, Medusa appeared at her own doorway. ”Zhao Rong,” she said softly, ”could you help me? I can’t get this bottle cap open.”

On the surface, Medusa was simply asking for help opening a bottle. In reality, she planned to use the moment he was distracted to blow a strong breath of Snake Qi into his mouth, knock him unconscious, and then strip him bare.
