Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 76: Chapter 68: After Cleaning the Toilets, Make Hot Pot

After being brutally beaten by Mage Erzhen and Wang Jingang, Dashaw crawled on the ground, his head bleeding. What’s with my luck lately? Everything I eat goes right through me, and every wild prediction I make comes true. This won’t do. I need to find time to visit Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad and burn some premium incense for better luck.

Meanwhile, Mage Erzhen anxiously asked Wang Jingang, ”Since Medusa’s fragrance failed, what should we do now?”

Wang Jingang comforted his master, saying, ”Don’t worry, Master. As the most beautiful and resourceful woman in the Snake-Person Tribe, Medusa has her ways. She’s about to unleash a series of powerful moves. Just you wait. Zhao Rong will walk right into her trap.”

Encouraged by Wang Jingang’s words, Mage Erzhen replied cheerfully, ”Since Medusa has so many tricks up her sleeve, I can rest easy.”

Next, Medusa planned to use a special hallucinogenic powder she carried with her, a substance called ’snake powder.’ Once the powder was added to someone’s food or drink, they would lose their judgment and begin to hallucinate, creating an opportunity for her to strike.

In the afternoon, Medusa took the initiative to find the assistant. She told him that she had been away from her homeland for a long time and was craving hotpot. Hearing that the woman he secretly adored wanted to eat hotpot, the assistant immediately agreed. He went out to buy a host of ingredients and started preparing the meal at home.

When Medusa saw the assistant preparing the hotpot, she joyfully retrieved two small packets of snake powder from her clothes. This powder was unique to the Snake-People and was especially potent when added to food—particularly hotpot—as it could induce deep hallucinations. Medusa had suggested eating hotpot precisely for this reason. She planned to drug the broth, plunge Zhao Rong into a hallucinatory state, and then deal a killing blow in the dead of night.

At that moment, Zhao Rong was in his room, playing a game on his phone, when he suddenly smelled the rich aroma of hotpot. These women want hotpot again? I really don’t see what’s so great about it. It’s not filling, and it gives me diarrhea the next day. Due to his sensitive stomach, Zhao Rong always suffered from diarrhea after eating hotpot.

While Zhao Rong was wondering who was cooking, the assistant had already brought the hotpot out and was calling for everyone. From the dining table downstairs, he shouted, ”Ladies and gentlemen, come on down for hotpot!”

Hearing that there was hotpot, the four women immediately emerged from their rooms.

Miss Lili caught a whiff of the aroma and said, ”Wow, don’t tell me Brother Zhao Rong had a sudden impulse and prepared hotpot for us today?”

Analyzing the scent in the air, Yu Lan commented, ”This must be authentic Chongqing hotpot. It smells absolutely divine.”

Xuelian, who also loved hotpot, said happily, ”It’s been a week since we last had hotpot. It’s really time we had some!”

Compared to the three girls who adored hotpot, Tao Hua was less enthusiastic. When she saw it was the assistant downstairs preparing the meal, she said in surprise, ”What’s gotten into the assistant today? Why is he being so nice and making hotpot for everyone?”

When the women realized it wasn’t Zhao Rong but the assistant who had prepared the hotpot, their expressions soured.

Lili was the first to speak. ”So, it was the assistant who made this. I’ve suddenly lost my appetite.”

Yu Lan already disliked the assistant, so she detested everything about him. ”I hate the assistant, so I hate his cooking too,” she declared before turning around and marching back to her room.

Although Xuelian liked hotpot, she found the situation hard to accept. The assistant usually cleaned the toilets at the True Martial Gate; the idea of him suddenly cooking for everyone felt wrong. Tao Hua, who didn’t care for hotpot to begin with, followed the others back to her room.

Downstairs, the assistant, having finished preparing the hotpot, was admiring his handiwork. A hotpot made by my own two hands! These women will surely come flocking like moths to a flame. But even if you all want to eat my hotpot, let me make one thing clear... The only reason I stooped to cook this meal was for my secret love, Medusa. So, ladies, even if you want some, you’ll have to be content with a small portion. Otherwise, what will my goddess Medusa eat? A knowing smile spread across his face at the thought.

However, after sitting at the table and waiting for a long time, only Medusa came down. The assistant was completely dumbfounded to see the enormous hotpot and a table laden with food for just the two of them.

Even Medusa hadn’t anticipated this. Her plan to drug the hotpot, make Zhao Rong and the women hallucinate, and then take them down one by one had fallen through. She said to the assistant, ”What are you waiting for? There’s no atmosphere with just the two of us. Quick, go upstairs and invite the others and Brother Zhao Rong down. Let’s all eat hotpot together.”

Hearing this, the assistant’s confidence took a serious blow. He had expected everyone to rush down, eager to eat. Instead, he, the cook, had to personally invite them. Gritting his teeth, he reluctantly headed up to the second floor.

He stood at Miss Lili’s door and knocked for a long time before she finally opened it. ”Miss Lili,” he said, ”the hotpot I made is ready. Come down and try it.”

Miss Lili looked at him with disdain. ”Even a dog wouldn’t eat your cooking, yet you expect us to? Get lost.” With that, she slammed the door in his face.

Next, the assistant went to Yu Lan’s door. Yu Lan glanced at his dirty fingernails and said in disgust, ”Assistant, are you forgetting that you spend your days cleaning the toilets at the True Martial Gate? The fact that you’d cook for us after doing that is a complete insult to our intelligence.”

Stung once again, the assistant, feeling completely dejected, trudged to Xuelian’s door. He had thought that Xuelian, being a sweet girl, would surely eat his hotpot. He never expected that she wouldn’t even open the door. It turned out that Xuelian, unable to think of a good excuse to refuse him, had decided not to answer at all.

Finally, the assistant went to Zhao Rong’s room. Zhao Rong usually left his door unlocked, so the assistant walked right in. He saw Zhao Rong lying on the bed playing on his phone and began to plead, ”Big Brother Zhao Rong, I went through all this trouble to make hotpot... but no one will even give it a try. I’ve been waiting downstairs for over half an hour, and it’s just me and Medusa...”

Listening to the assistant’s plea and seeing his pitiful expression, Zhao Rong relented. Fine. The assistant may be dirty and unhygienic... but he went to the trouble of making hotpot for everyone. It would be too embarrassing for him if I didn’t go down and eat.

So, Zhao Rong agreed. ”Alright, I’ll do you the honor. But I’m telling you in advance, my stomach is sensitive to hotpot, so I’ll definitely have to use the restroom partway through. When that happens, don’t get the wrong idea and think I’m leaving because your food is terrible.”

The assistant was overjoyed. ”As long as you’re willing to come, Big Brother Zhao Rong, I’ll be thrilled!”

Downstairs, when Medusa saw the assistant leading Zhao Rong over, she was ecstatic. Once Zhao Rong eats this drugged hotpot, I’ll definitely be able to end his life tonight. But first, he has to actually eat the hotpot and his body needs to absorb the snake powder’s effects.

Suddenly, a new worry struck her. I hope his stomach is fine these days and he doesn’t get diarrhea... Otherwise, if he goes to the toilet midway through the meal, the drug will be flushed out and lose its effect... All my efforts will be for nothing...

Just then, the assistant and Zhao Rong arrived at the table. To Medusa’s complete surprise, Tao Hua also came downstairs, having finally relented to the assistant’s repeated invitations.

A new thought formed in Medusa’s mind. As long as the two masters, Zhao Rong and Tao Hua, are poisoned, dealing with the remaining women will be a piece of cake.

And so, Medusa began adding ingredients to the pre-drugged hotpot, encouraging Zhao Rong and Tao Hua to eat.
