Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 54: Chapter 47 Borrowing a Knife to Kill Someone, Perfection to the Extreme_2

”Great Hero Zhao Rong, your martial prowess is simply divine,” a beautiful woman said while eating a banana.

”That’s right. Not only is Great Hero Zhao Rong peerless in martial arts, but he’s also humble and cautious,” a shapely female disciple added. ”It seems the arduous task of eradicating the evil Mage Erzhen from our True Martial Sect can only fall on the shoulders of Great Hero Zhao Rong.”

Hearing the praise from those around him, Zhao Rong scratched the back of his head and said embarrassedly, ”The only reason I could defeat that powerful vampire just now was pure luck. Please, don’t put me on such a high pedestal.”

Just as Zhao Rong was being modest, Tao Hua came over. Her eyes were full of admiration as she looked at him. ”Great Hero Zhao Rong, your ’borrowing a knife to kill another’ tactic just now was executed to absolute perfection.” Glancing at the assistant, who had been on the verge of death but was now energetically jumping about, she added, ”Great Hero Zhao Rong, I’ve just realized that your greatest strength is your ability to be unpredictable in battle, to strike when your enemy least expects it...”

Listening to Tao Hua’s praise, Zhao Rong smiled awkwardly.

Am I really that impressive? As for what happened just now... leading the vampire to the snake-poisoned assistant, and me accidentally tripping, which caused the vampire to fly over my head and suck the assistant’s poisoned blood... that was all a complete accident.

At that moment, Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian walked over. Lili looked at Zhao Rong and said, ”Brother Zhao Rong, what I admire most about you is your ability to use whatever is at hand, to learn as you go, and to achieve victory through ingenuity...”

As she finished speaking, Lili thought to herself, Last time, when Brother Zhao Rong and I fought the super assassin, Mask, at the Girl-Chasing Company... Facing Mask’s Whirlwind Knife and Quicksand Sword, it was Brother Zhao Rong who used a large dining table in the hallway to knock out the super assassin and secure the victory. And this time, facing the formidable vampire, he had the brilliant idea to lure the vampire to the snake-poisoned assistant, thus forcing the vampire to ingest the lethal poison from the assistant’s body.

Yu Lan looked at Zhao Rong with adoration and admiration, her face alight with joy. ”Brother Zhao Rong, you always manage to surprise us... Now, you’re not just my oppa, you’re my idol.”

When the assistant, who had a secret crush on Yu Lan, heard her profess such admiration for Zhao Rong, he stepped forward jealously. ”Yu Lan, I played a part in defeating the vampire too. You should praise me a little.”

Hearing this, Yu Lan, who had just been beaming at Zhao Rong, turned her head. Her expression grew cold as she looked at the assistant. ”You’re not dead yet? You useless oaf, it’s rare for you to be of any use at all.”

Hearing her words, the assistant pouted and thought resentfully, In a woman’s eyes, is the gap between a male assistant and a male idol really this huge?

Compared to Lili and Yu Lan’s admiration for Zhao Rong, Xuelian was already lost in a fantasy of when she might marry this man who embodied both wisdom and decisiveness. Though she looked at him without speaking, her mind was already picturing the scene of Zhao Rong riding a Rainbow Cloud to come and marry her.

While everyone was cheering for Zhao Rong, the Sect Leader, Mage Yizhen, came over. He congratulated Zhao Rong while announcing to the group, ”Thank you, everyone. This time, our side of justice worked together to perfectly defeat the forces of the evil Mage Erzhen. Especially Zhao Rong, who not only forced the vampire to accept a humbling defeat but also returned the humiliation to Mage Erzhen in kind. Therefore, tonight, I will treat everyone to a grand feast!”

Hearing that the Sect Leader was treating them to a feast, the three young women exclaimed with delight, ”Fantastic! We’ve been eating in the cafeteria every day since we arrived at the True Martial Sect. It’s about time for a change of pace.”

While everyone else was delighted by Mage Yizhen’s invitation, the assistant was the only one who wasn’t. The reasons for his displeasure were twofold. First, he felt the banquet was to celebrate Zhao Rong and had little to do with him. Second, he figured a shabby place like the True Martial Sect couldn’t possibly offer any decent food.

Thus, the assistant said, ”Mage Yizhen, I think I’ll skip your banquet.”

Hearing that the assistant would not be attending, Mage Yizhen said in surprise, ”My banquet will be filled with delicacies and rare culinary treasures, yet you’re not coming? You should think this through.”

The assistant scoffed internally. This Mage Yizhen is as poor as a church mouse. What kind of delicacies could he possibly produce?

So, he said firmly, ”I’m not going. You all go ahead.”

Hearing this, Mage Yizhen muttered to himself, ”Grilled Kobe beef, Almas caviar, Dominica Crolla Pizza Royale 007, Italian Alba white truffles, Craftsteak Wagyu ribeye...”

The assistant’s jaw nearly hit the floor. He never would have imagined that the tiny True Martial Sect could serve some of the world’s most exquisite cuisine.

Licking his lips, the assistant asked, ”Sect Leader, besides such delicious food, what will you be drinking?”

Mage Yizhen replied casually, ”Tequila Clase Azul and Château Lafite, of course.”

The assistant instantly regretted his decision. He said, ”Sect Leader, while it’s true I’m not very hungry, I suppose I should have a little something to eat.”

Just as the assistant was fantasizing about joining everyone for these top-tier delicacies and fine wines, the gatekeeper of the True Martial Sect came running over. He looked at the assistant and said, ”Hey, kid, you still haven’t cleaned the toilets you’re supposed to clean.”

The assistant didn’t have a letter of introduction. He’d only been allowed to enter the True Martial Sect to train because he had promised to take on the task of cleaning all the toilets.

When the assistant heard that he had to go clean toilets while everyone else was off to a gourmet meal with fine wine, he lamented his fate.

Why is my life so bitter? When will I ever be like Zhao Rong, able to defeat powerful enemies and be adored by everyone?

On the way to the banquet, the Sect Leader, Mage Yizhen, suddenly informed Zhao Rong, ”Zhao Rong, for this occasion, our team is gaining a new formidable member in addition to yourself and these lovely ladies. His name is Liu Tianxiong.”

Hearing the name Liu Tianxiong, Lili froze. She looked at Mage Yizhen and said, ”What? Liu Tianxiong?”

Mage Yizhen looked at her. ”What is it? Do you know him?”

Lili frowned. ”Are you talking about that sharp-faced, grasshopper-like guy who’s ridiculously confident, convinced he’s the most handsome man alive, and loves to flaunt his wealth? That second-generation rich kid, Liu Tianxiong?”

Hearing this, Mage Yizhen paused, then said, ”Well, Liu Tianxiong does look a bit like a grasshopper, but I’m not aware of those other aspects.”

Realizing it was indeed him, Lili said unhappily, ”What’s that wealth-flaunting rich brat doing here?”

Seeing Lili’s obvious displeasure, Zhao Rong tried to comfort her. ”Miss Lili, our team is already small. You should be happy about a new member joining.”

Lili thought for a moment, then said, ”What’s there to welcome about a person like that? Do you even know who Liu Tianxiong is?”

Zhao Rong shook his head. ”No.”

Lili paused, then said, ”He’s my ex-boyfriend.”

Hearing that Liu Tianxiong was Lili’s ex-boyfriend, Zhao Rong was puzzled. ”Wasn’t your ex-boyfriend Wang Jingang? How is it Liu Tianxiong now?”

Lili replied, embarrassed, ”Well... that guy pursued me once.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong thought to himself, Could it be that this rich kid, Liu Tianxiong, came to the True Martial Sect specifically to join Mage Yizhen’s team just to pursue Miss Lili again? Since he wants to go after her, then as her bodyguard, I definitely can’t let him succeed...
