Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 65: Chapter 57 Riding the Somersault Cloud, Flying Out of the Dragon Cave

Just then, the giant dragon Mark asked Zhao Rong, ”Since you’re a human, you should be afraid of us dragons succeeding in our cultivation. You should be terrified that we’ll fly out of the Dragon Cave and annihilate your kind, right? Yet, as a human, why would you want to help our Dragon Clan succeed and fly out to destroy your own people?”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Rong was completely stumped.

This is it, I’m done for. As a human, there’s no way I can answer this question.

Just as Zhao Rong felt his lies were about to be exposed and he would be eaten by the giant dragon Mark, Mark suddenly spoke up for him. ”Could it be that you’re not human?”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong thought to himself, I was just wondering how to trick you, and you’ve gone and told me exactly what to say. I’ll just play along, then.

So, Zhao Rong spoke to the giant dragon Mark with a grave and earnest expression. ”The truth is, I’ve been reluctant to tell you... I’m a turtle spirit.”

When Mark heard the man before him was not a human but a turtle who had cultivated a human form, his eyes widened in surprise. ”So you’re a turtle spirit, not a human! It seems we’re on the same side... Our ultimate goal is to cultivate to a certain level, ascend, and then exterminate humanity.”

Listening to Mark’s words, Zhao Rong nodded in agreement. He looked at the dragon and said with feigned passion, ”Mark, as long as we persevere and never give up, the day will come when we achieve the Dao! We’ll soar into the heavens, destroy humanity, and finally rule over the entire world!”

When the giant dragon Mark heard Zhao Rong’s speech, the grand ambitions within his heart were ignited. The dragon suddenly grasped Zhao Rong’s hand, his eyes brimming with tears. ”Turtle spirit, you’re right! Your words have reinvigorated me. I’m a member of the Dragon Clan, but I’ve been cooped up in this Dragon Cave for so long my will was slowly fading away.”

Seeing the cold-blooded giant dragon Mark actually shed tears, Zhao Rong was taken aback. It seems my nonsense actually managed to inspire him.

Just as Zhao Rong was finding the atmosphere incredibly strange, the dragon suddenly declared, ”Being with optimistic and positive people makes the Dragon Clan stronger in battle. Being with depressed and listless people makes the life of the Dragon Clan bleak. Therefore, I’ve decided to become sworn brothers with a turtle spirit like you! We will not ask to be born on the same day, of the same month, of the same year, but we will ask to die on the same day, of the same month, of the same year.”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Rong’s jaw nearly dropped in shock. Never in his wildest dreams could he have imagined that he, a nobody, could become sworn brothers with a divine beast—and not just any divine beast, but a super-powered one whose Dragon Crystal was at level 45!

Thus, Zhao Rong went along with the giant dragon Mark. As they swore their oath of brotherhood, he said, ”Turtles live for a very long time. I’m afraid you might pass away long before I do.”

Mark was taken aback for a moment, then replied, ”Then I will cultivate diligently and eat more Immortal Herbs! I will strive to live forever, shining as brightly as the sun and moon, just like you!”

Hearing the words ”Immortal Herbs,” Zhao Rong was startled. He quickly asked Mark, ”What are Immortal Herbs? Do humans get any benefits from eating them?”

The giant dragon Mark explained, ”Immortal Herbs are a special treasure found only here in our Dragon Cave, the home of the Dragon Clan. Eating them not only strengthens the body but can also cure diseases and save lives. Most importantly, they can prolong one’s lifespan...”

Hearing how powerful the Immortal Herbs were, Zhao Rong said, ”Since we’re brothers, we should share something so wonderful.”

Listening to Zhao Rong, Mark nodded. ”Right, why didn’t I think of that? I’ll go pick some Immortal Herbs for you right now.”

With that, Mark went to gather the herbs. After the giant dragon had left, Zhao Rong looked up at the cave’s opening, so high it seemed to have no end. Even if I get the level-45 Dragon Crystal and the amazing Immortal Herbs, how in the world am I supposed to get up there?

While Zhao Rong was worrying, Mark returned with ten stalks of Immortal Herbs. As he handed them to Zhao Rong, he also carefully and solemnly entrusted his priceless, level-45 Dragon Crystal into Zhao Rong’s hands.

When Zhao Rong received the Immortal Herbs and the Dragon Crystal, he was overjoyed. Wow, it’s a good thing I accidentally fell down here while saving Liu Tianxiong. Otherwise, I would never have met the giant dragon Mark. If I hadn’t met the dragon, I would have missed out on the level-45 Dragon Crystal and the Immortal Herbs. More than that, I wouldn’t have been able to stop a dragon on the verge of reaching level 50 from flying out of the Dragon Cave to wreak havoc on humanity.

After thinking this through, Zhao Rong looked up anxiously at the impossibly high mouth of the cave. ”Mark, even if you give me the Dragon Crystal and Immortal Herbs, how am I supposed to get out of a place this deep?”

The dragon laughed. ”That’s easy. Since you came all the way down here to find me and help deliver the Dragon Crystal to my brother, how could I not see you out?”

With that, the dragon spat fire toward a nearby pond, turning the water into steam. As the vapor rose from the water’s edge, Mark exhaled a miraculous gas from his nostrils. When the gas met the steam, it instantly coalesced into a Somersault Cloud.

Seeing the cloud had formed, Mark lifted Zhao Rong and placed him upon it. ”Turtle spirit, with just a puff of my breath, this Somersault Cloud will carry you to the cave entrance.”

Saying this, the giant dragon Mark blew a powerful breath at the Somersault Cloud. Instantly, the cloud Zhao Rong was on lifted into the air and began flying toward the cave entrance. Sitting within the cloud, Zhao Rong felt as comfortable as if he were in a hot air balloon.

He waved goodbye to the giant dragon. ”Brother, I’m off! I hope to see you again someday!”

The delighted dragon exclaimed, ”We’re sworn brothers now! From now on, anyone who dares to bully you is bullying me, and I will definitely not let them get away with it!”

Seeing Zhao Rong nearing the exit, Mark reminded him, ”Remember, you must give the Dragon Crystal to my brother!”

As he was about to reach the entrance, Zhao Rong called back with great emotion, ”Brother, don’t worry! I will definitely give the Dragon Crystal to your brother!”

From the bottom of the cave, Mark didn’t forget to add, ”Thanks!”

Compared to the joyful Zhao Rong inside the cave, the people outside were in complete chaos.

Lili stared at the chasm of the Dragon Cave, from which cold air seeped, and cried, ”It’s over! The cave is so deep, Zhao Rong must have been killed by the fall.”

Yu Lan also sobbed, ”Even if Zhao Rong survived the fall, he was surely eaten by the giant dragon in the cave!”

In contrast to Lili and Yu Lan’s pessimism, Xuelian was about to jump into the cave to die alongside Zhao Rong.

While the three girls grieved, Liu Tianxiong, who had just climbed out of the cave, was snickering to himself. Heaven is truly on my side for dragging Zhao Rong into the Dragon Cave! Killing him finally rids me of my deepest hatred.

Just then, Wang Jingang arrived with Big Dumb and Yellow Hair. He glanced at the Dragon Cave, then at Liu Tianxiong, and gave him a thumbs-up. Then, turning to the three devastated beauties, Wang Jingang said, ”Hey beauties, stop crying. Your precious Zhao Rong is already dead.”

Big Dumb took a step closer. ”Yeah, not even the King of Heaven himself could save your Zhao Rong now.”

Yellow Hair added, gloating, ”Since Zhao Rong is dead, isn’t it time for you three beauties to find new men?” With that, he sidled up to Xuelian, to whom he had once confessed his feelings. ”Xuelian, since Zhao Rong is dead, why don’t you get back together with me?” As he spoke, he reached out to embrace her.

Big Dumb also stepped forward, looking at the sobbing Yu Lan. ”Yu Lan, the dead can’t be brought back, so why are you making yourself suffer? Zhao Rong was a man, and I’m a man. I can treat you just as well as he did. Let’s get back together.” Big Dumb was Yu Lan’s ex-boyfriend, and ever since Zhao Rong had won her over, he had harbored a deep resentment, hoping to one day win her back.

Yu Lan immediately rejected him. ”Trash like you isn’t worthy of being compared to even Zhao Rong’s little toe! You want me to get back with you? In your dreams!”

Furious at being rejected, Big Dumb moved to grab her by force.

While Big Dumb and Yellow Hair were making their moves, Wang Jingang wasn’t idle either. He walked up to Lili. ”Great beauty, what are you waiting for? Let me be your Assassin again.”

In response, Lili slapped him hard across the face. ”You dog! You’re a worthless scoundrel! In my eyes, you’ll always be an animal, not a human!”

Wang Jingang wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. ”Beauty, I like it when you hit me... But now, I’m going to take you by force. With Zhao Rong gone, let’s see who’s going to protect you three.” As he spoke, he lunged toward Lili.

At that moment, Tao Hua leaped out from the crowd, cursing, ”You three animals! Zhao Rong may be gone, but Tao Hua is still here!”

As she spoke, Tao Hua jumped, sending Yellow Hair flying with a single kick. Then, with a chopping kick, she forced Big Dumb to his knees. Finally, a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree spinning kick dislocated Wang Jingang’s jaw.

Although the three shameless jerks were knocked down, they got back up, relying on their superior numbers to charge forward again. When the three beauties saw Tao Hua, a lone woman, facing off against more than thirty men, they cried out together, ”Zhao Rong, come save us!”

Hearing the three beauties still calling for Zhao Rong, Wang Jingang, Big Dumb, and Yellow Hair burst out laughing. ”Unless a miracle happens, there’s absolutely no way Zhao Rong is showing up!”

But they hadn’t even finished their sentence...

Suddenly, like Sun Wukong himself, Zhao Rong emerged majestically from the Dragon Cave, riding the Somersault Cloud.
