Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 93: Chapter 80: Love Flower, Forgetfulness Grass, Memory-Loss Water, and Soul-Reviving Pill

At that moment, the chairman stood at the entrance of the guesthouse. He adjusted his belt, reminiscing about the pleasure he had just experienced. I’m used to those high-end places, but coming to a place like this for a little excitement once in a while is actually quite nice! At the thought, a sly grin spread across his face. He chuckled and said aloud, ”Thank goodness no one saw me. Otherwise, if anyone saw me—the prestigious chairman of a major corporation—coming to a place like this, my glorious image would be completely ruined!”

Just as the chairman was breathing a sigh of relief, his assistant strolled out leisurely, an expression of pure enjoyment and satisfaction on his face. I may be poor and unable to afford fancy clubs, but I can still find places like this! The thought made the assistant laugh out loud. After his laughter subsided, he thought with relief, Good thing nobody saw me. If anyone had, that would have been...

Just as the chairman and his assistant were both marveling at how they had gotten away with their visit completely unnoticed, they turned and ran right into each other.

The chairman stared at his assistant in shock. ”You... what... are you... doing here?”

The assistant was just as stunned. ”Ch-Chair... man... What brings you to a place like this?”

Instantly, an incredibly awkward silence fell between them. After the initial shock and embarrassment, the chairman scrambled for an excuse. ”Assistant, don’t get the wrong idea. I’m just here visiting a relative. She sells baked flatbreads nearby...”

Hearing this, the assistant quickly tried to cover for himself as well. ”Chairman, please don’t misunderstand! I wasn’t here to, you know... I also have a relative here. She... she sells griddled flatbreads...”

When they finished speaking, they shared a smile that was equal parts embarrassment and alarm. Though they both knew the truth and were silently mocking each other, they still pretended to be completely oblivious.

Just as they were feeling relieved that at least no one else had seen them, a familiar figure approached. Instantly, both the chairman and his assistant froze. They were so mortified they wished a hole would open in the ground so they could crawl in and escape.

Zhao Rong knew exactly what the two of them had been doing, and he knew they were dying of embarrassment. Deciding to help, he approached and offered them an out. He started with the chairman. ”Hello, Chairman. Were you trying to get to the True Martial Gate and accidentally got lost?”

Seizing the lifeline, the chairman began nodding and bowing obsequiously. ”Yes, yes, exactly! I was on my way to True Martial to see how your cultivation was progressing... but I took a wrong turn and lost my way. Since you’re here, could you please show me the way? I need to get out of here.”

Zhao Rong nodded. ”Of course, Chairman. Right this way.”

Seeing the chairman make his escape, the assistant, who was standing nearby, quickly put on an act. ”I’m lost too, Zhao Rong. Can you lead me out of here as well?”

Seeing his pretense, Zhao Rong stepped forward and stared him down. ”Cut the crap, Assistant. You think I don’t know what you were doing?”

The assistant was terrified. ”Zhao Rong, you have to keep this a secret for me! If Yu Lan and the others find out I came to a place like this, they’ll laugh me to death!”

Zhao Rong snorted. ”If you don’t want people to know, don’t do it in the first place. The walls have ears.”

Zhao Rong had only meant to scare the assistant and mess with him a little. However, when the chairman overheard the remark, he was terrified out of his wits. I’m the chairman of a major corporation, a man of considerable standing. If something like this were made public and exposed by the media... wouldn’t my reputation, honor, identity, and status be utterly destroyed?

Having thought it through, the chairman stepped closer and whispered in Zhao Rong’s ear, ”Zhao Rong, I have a private account in a Swiss bank. That money was meant for my retirement. But now... I feel you need some financial support to continue protecting my daughter. So, I’m going to give you the password for this account. If you need money, just make one call. After you enter the correct password, the Swiss bank will immediately transfer however much you need directly into your bank account.”

Zhao Rong was stunned. He knew that Swiss banks were famous for protecting their clients’ privacy. A depositor only had to provide their real name for the initial deposit. After that, the account was identified by a code, and the real name was never used again. This had made Swiss banks a tax haven for the world’s wealthy.

He couldn’t help but wonder, Is the chairman trying to use this money to buy my silence? But he’s already given me a lot of money. It wouldn’t feel right to accept another huge sum like this.

So, Zhao Rong tried to explain, ”Chairman, please don’t misunderstand. What I said just now was just to scare the assistant and mess with him a little... It wasn’t directed at you. Please don’t take it the wrong way.”

Even though Zhao Rong’s explanation was perfectly clear, the chairman remained insistent, determined to give his private Swiss bank deposit to Zhao Rong as a gift.

With a firm expression, the chairman said, ”Zhao Rong, if you have any respect for me, you will accept this money.”
