Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 55: Chapter 48: You Have a Rolex, I Have a Patek Philippe

The banquet hosted by Mage Yizhen was set in a picturesque location with mountains and waterways.

When the Mage arrived with Zhao Rong, Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, and Tao Hua, a tall, skinny man who truly resembled a grasshopper stood up to greet them. As he walked over, he deliberately pulled open his shirt to show off the LV belt at his waist.

”Mage Yizhen,” he said, ”my dad sent me to learn cultivation from you, and well, here I am.”

As he spoke, Liu Tianxiong deliberately twisted his LV-belted waist, as if afraid someone might miss it.

Mage Yizhen looked at him and smiled. ”Young man, you’re the spitting image of your father. Back in the day, we even nicknamed him ’Grasshopper’...”

Hearing this, Liu Tianxiong’s expression soured, but he nodded. ”Mage Yizhen, my father arranged for me to become your disciple precisely because he knows you.”

Realizing Liu Tianxiong was here to formally join them, Mage Yizhen quickly made introductions. ”This is Zhao Rong. He is not only my disciple but also the backbone of our team.”

Liu Tianxiong already knew Zhao Rong was Lili’s bodyguard, and he looked down on him. This guy is dressed in rags; he’s clearly a pauper. He’s lucky to be Lili’s bodyguard.

Hearing the introduction, Zhao Rong extended his hand amicably. ”Hello, Liu Tianxiong.”

However, Liu Tianxiong ignored the offered hand with a dismissive air. ”I just spent a thousand yuan on a manicure for these delicate hands...” With that, he refused the handshake.

Next, Mage Yizhen introduced his daughter. ”This is my daughter, Tao Hua.”

Liu Tianxiong’s eyes lit up when he saw how pretty she was. He eagerly extended his hand. ”Beauty, you truly live up to your name, Tao Hua. Your skin is just like a peach blossom—so fair and rosy.” As he spoke, he puffed out his chest, making sure the Armani logo on his shirt was clearly visible.

In response to his outstretched hand, Tao Hua gave him a radiant smile. She then seized his hand. The moment her fingers closed around his, the highly-skilled Tao Hua squeezed, producing a series of sickening cracks from his palm.

Liu Tianxiong yelped and leaped into the air from the sheer pain. ”Beauty, easy! Take it easy! You’re killing me!” he pleaded, hopping on the spot.

Seeing the man who had been so arrogant just moments before being made to dance in agony by Tao Hua, the other girls couldn’t help but laugh.

That’s what you get for looking down on Brother Zhao Rong, Liu Tianxiong, and for refusing to shake his hand. I hope it hurts! Tao Hua thought.

It took Liu Tianxiong a great deal of effort to finally wrench his hand free. His face was contorted in pain as he shook his throbbing hand, forcing a pained smile. ”Tao Hua, you’ve got quite a grip.”

Subsequently, Mage Yizhen introduced Yu Lan. Liu Tianxiong looked at the attractive Yu Lan and started to extend his hand, but the memory of Tao Hua’s crushing grip made him chicken out. He quickly put his hands behind his back, a gesture that conveniently showed off the Armani logo on his shirt again. ”Beauty, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Seeing him flaunt his wealth once more, Yu Lan deliberately mocked him. ”Hey, buddy, why is there a Big Red Eagle printed on your shirt?”

Since the Armani logo resembled an eagle, Yu Lan was bluntly accusing him of wearing a cheap knock-off of a domestic brand. Hearing his designer shirt called a ”Big Red Eagle,” Liu Tianxiong went livid with anger.

After that, Mage Yizhen introduced Xuelian. Compared to the feisty Yu Lan, the delicate and beautiful Xuelian made Liu Tianxiong’s heart flutter. He decided to try showing off again. ”Hello, beautiful lady. Could you please tell me the time?”

Just as Xuelian was about to pull out her phone, Liu Tianxiong held up a hand to stop her, brandishing his own timepiece. ”Who uses a phone to check the time these days?”

He then deliberately raised his left wrist high in the air, ensuring everyone around could see the Rolex watch he was wearing.

Seeing him flaunt his wealth so obnoxiously, Lili couldn’t stand it any longer. ”Brother Zhao Rong, his watch is wrong. Check yours.”

When Liu Tianxiong heard that the shabby bodyguard Zhao Rong actually owned a watch, he scoffed internally. This bodyguard looks so poor. Even if he has a watch, it must be some nameless piece of junk.

However, when Zhao Rong revealed his watch, Liu Tianxiong was left completely stunned. Staring at the limited-edition Patek Philippe on Zhao Rong’s wrist, he stammered, ”That’s impossible! Zhao Rong, your watch must be a fake.”

Zhao Rong blinked, surprised. ”I don’t think so. Lili and I bought it together at the Patek Philippe store.”

It turned out that Lili’s father, as a reward for Zhao Rong’s excellent protection, had bought him a watch from the same prestigious brand his daughter wore. The limited-edition Patek Philippe on Zhao Rong’s wrist was worth at least a hundred times more than Liu Tianxiong’s Rolex.

When the show-off realized Zhao Rong’s watch was a hundred times more valuable than his own, he was thoroughly humiliated. Though his attempt at flaunting his wealth had backfired spectacularly, he consoled himself with another thought. Zhao Rong, your watch might be better than mine, but I bet your car and house aren’t. Just wait. When I drive Lili home later in my million-yuan Audi A8, you’ll feel so inferior you won’t know where to look.

At this thought, a smug little smile crept onto his face. Before Mage Yizhen could even introduce Lili, Liu Tianxiong spoke to her directly. ”Miss Lili, we don’t need an introduction, do we? After all, I did pursue you once...”

Lili cut him off sharply. ”With that grasshopper face of yours? You wanted to pursue me? You should count yourself lucky I didn’t spray you with insecticide.”

With that, she swept away, leaving Liu Tianxiong standing there in utter embarrassment.

Once the banquet began, Mage Yizhen stood up to welcome the newcomer. ”Everyone, let’s give a warm welcome to the newest man on our team, Liu Tianxiong!”

He fully expected a round of applause. To his surprise, however, the group’s idea of a welcome was a chorus of boos and jeers. While the Mage looked awkward, Liu Tianxiong flushed crimson with rage.

After they sat down, Mage Yizhen gave Liu Tianxiong a detailed introduction to Zhao Rong. ”Tianxiong, since you’ve joined our team, you must learn from your senior brother, Zhao Rong.

”Back when your senior brother was at the management training center, he knocked out Wang Jingang—who’s a big shot in our True Martial Sect now—with a single brick.

”Your senior brother Zhao Rong once caught a snake-like monster using nothing but a cockroach fumigation bomb.

”Your senior brother Zhao Rong once knocked out the insufferably arrogant Assassin’s Mask with a large dining table.

”Your senior brother Zhao Rong once captured the Black Mountain Old Demon, who had roamed the Demonic Primeval Forest for decades, using a bottle of pepper spray he bought online for a few dozen yuan...”

Hearing how Zhao Rong had used such unconventional items to defeat appallingly powerful enemies, Liu Tianxiong was astonished. Still, he couldn’t stop himself from scheming for a way to humiliate him.

So, you think you’re that great, Zhao Rong? Just you wait. After this banquet, I’ll show you my million-yuan Audi A8 and the apartment I bought in the luxury downtown district. I will outdo you. I’ll make sure you understand the meaning of wealth—my wealth!

But just as Liu Tianxiong was plotting to shame Zhao Rong with his Audi A8, an alert popped up on Zhao Rong’s phone app:

His ride, a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class worth over five million yuan, was already driving itself toward the True Martial Sect. The luxury car was on its way to pick up Zhao Rong and the three beautiful women after their grand meal, ready to take them back to the magnificent mansion he had purchased.
