Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 70: Chapter 62: The Handsomest Man and the Hygienic Magical Beast

When the assistant heard that he hadn’t been promoted but had actually been demoted a level, he looked at Zhao Rong with an extremely complex expression. His heart seemed to be crying out in protest. I worked so hard to cultivate to Level One... I finally managed to accumulate a tiny bit of True Qi in my Dantian, and you just absorbed it all?

Meanwhile, Zhao Rong looked at his assistant, feeling both helpless and apologetic. His gaze seemed to say, I, Zhao Rong, am not the type of person who pulls the rug out from under people. Even if I did absorb your True Qi, it must have been an accident.

The assistant, lying on the ground, let out a sob. He suddenly recalled what Zhao Rong had said just moments before. Why would I help you get demoted when I was trying to help you level up? I, Zhao Rong, couldn’t possibly be that shameless, could I?

Suddenly, a stifling sensation filled the assistant’s chest, and he fainted from sheer anger.

Seeing the assistant pass out, Zhao Rong shrugged helplessly. ”Assistant, don’t blame me. I really didn’t want your True Qi. I genuinely wanted to help you level up. I just never expected to end up making things worse.”

After speaking, a puzzled Zhao Rong turned to the nearby Tao Hua and asked, ”Tao Hua, why can I help beautiful women level up but not ugly men?”

Tao Hua thought for a moment before replying, ”My guess is that because the assistant is always cleaning the toilets in the True Martial Sect, unclean particles have slowly clogged his meridians through molecular diffusion, preventing True Qi from entering his body...”

Hearing Tao Hua’s explanation, Zhao Rong felt it was quite plausible. But if his meridians were clogged, how did the True Qi already inside him get out?

Tao Hua explained, ”Although True Qi is invisible and intangible, it possesses a spiritual quality. Since the assistant has been cleaning toilets for years, the small amount of True Qi in his body couldn’t stand the stench any longer. So, when you transferred your True Qi to him and opened a small channel in his meridians... all of his True Qi took the opportunity to escape into your body.”

Zhao Rong gasped. He hadn’t thought it possible, but he had indeed absorbed the assistant’s True Qi. ”Ah,” he said guiltily, ”if I had known I would absorb his True Qi, I wouldn’t have tried to help him level up. I really just made things worse.”

Zhao Rong looked at the unconscious assistant on the floor and began to worry. Could he have actually fainted to death?

Just as Zhao Rong and Tao Hua were preparing to perform artificial respiration and chest compressions, Yu Lan walked out of the kitchen. She was carrying a ladle filled with cold water. When Yu Lan saw what they were about to do to revive the assistant, she immediately stepped forward to stop them. ”Get out of the way! Let me handle him.”

As she approached, Yu Lan thought to herself, When dealing with someone as cunning and petty as the assistant, you have to be direct and rough.

With that, she splashed the entire ladle of cold water onto the assistant’s face. He shot up instantly, spitting out a mouthful of water. ”Damn, that really shocked me awake!”

Ever since being demoted to level negative one, the assistant had become much more subdued. Previously, at level one, he would know Yu Lan was showering whenever he heard the water start spraying in her bathroom. Although he wanted to peek, his cultivation level wasn’t high enough for him to jump up to the window, so his thievish desires remained unfulfilled. Now that he had been demoted to level negative one, he had even less of a chance. So, the assistant resigned himself to his bedroom, watching TV to pass the time.

However, after a while, he grew bored and the urge to peek at Yu Lan returned. Taking advantage of the darkness, the assistant quietly crept toward her room.

At that very moment, a level-seventeen Magic Beast Gecko Man, hired by Wang Jingang from Demon Beast Mountain, was stealthily climbing down from the roof of Zhao Rong’s villa. The first house he encountered upon coming down was Yu Lan’s.

Just as the Gecko Man reached Yu Lan’s house, the assistant also arrived. It was dark, and with no lights on in the villa, neither man saw the other. The assistant was focused on trying to peek at Yu Lan in her bathroom, while the Gecko Man was busy searching for Zhao Rong’s bedroom to steal the Dragon Crystal and Immortal Herbs.

Suddenly, they collided in the darkness.

Startled, the assistant thought, Damn, I thought I was the only one coming to peek at Yu Lan, but it turns out you, Zhao Rong, are here for the same reason.

Since there were only two men in the villa, the assistant naturally assumed he had run into Zhao Rong. ”I... Zhao Rong, you came to peek too...?” he stammered. He had meant to say, ”I, the assistant, came to peek at Yu Lan, but I never expected you, Zhao Rong, to be here as well,” but in his nervousness, he omitted several words.

To the ears of the Magic Beast Gecko Man, the assistant’s stuttered sentence sounded like: ”I am Zhao Rong. You... are stealing...”

When the Gecko Man heard the person before him claim to be Zhao Rong, he immediately drew his supreme longsword, the Damo Sword.

The assistant, still thinking he was talking to Zhao Rong, saw the sword and scoffed, ”You think you can just poke a hole in the wall with that thing to watch Yu Lan bathe?” He stepped forward, gave the Gecko Man a shove, and brazenly grabbed the blade of the Damo Sword, shaking it. ”Who are you trying to scare with this piece of junk? I’m already at level negative one. What are you going to do, knock me down to negative two?”

The Gecko Man was stunned. His Damo Sword, a Supreme Divine Sword that could kill without leaving a trace of blood, had failed to intimidate this man. This Zhao Rong isn’t only unafraid of the Damo Sword, but he even dares to grab the blade with his bare hand! He’s truly impressive.

But then, a thought struck him. Wait, isn’t it rumored that Zhao Rong has already reached level fifteen? How is the Zhao Rong in front of me only level negative one? What is he up to? This is too contradictory.

Just as the Gecko Man gripped his Damo Sword, ready to finish off this puzzling man, the assistant suddenly turned around, presenting his back. ”Since we’re both here to sneak a peek, you can go first,” he said. ”After all, you’re the big shot in this villa.”

Seeing his target not only refuse to dodge or defend but actually expose his back, the Gecko Man grew furious. ”Damn you, you really underestimate me, don’t you? No matter what, I’m still a level-seventeen Magic Beast Gecko Man! How dare you show me such contempt?”

As he prepared to strike, the assistant finally registered his words. When he heard ”Magic Beast Gecko Man” instead of ”Zhao Rong,” he was so scared he nearly wet himself. Before the Gecko Man could even make a move, the assistant scrambled away, tumbling head over heels down the stairs.

Seeing his opponent prove so cowardly and weak, the Gecko Man roared with laughter. ”That Wang Jingang is full of it! He claimed Zhao Rong captured the Rainy Night Maniac with his bare hands, kicked the Black Mountain Old Demon into oblivion, and destroyed the Serpent Creature... From what I’ve seen, this Zhao Rong is just a pushover.”

The Gecko Man thought, I had originally planned to secretly take Zhao Rong’s Dragon Crystal and Immortal Herbs, but now it seems he’s just too weak... Facing such a feeble opponent, it’s better to just rob him openly than to sneak away with them.

He immediately flipped on the villa lights and dashed down the stairs. By the time he reached the bottom, the assistant had already vanished like a startled rabbit.

Just then, the real Zhao Rong emerged from the kitchen, holding a piece of bread. Suddenly, he came face-to-face with the Gecko Man.

The Gecko Man, still believing the man he’d just scared witless was Zhao Rong, smirked and said condescendingly, ”Zhao Rong, I’ve always admired your reputation, but now I see you’re just a pushover.”

Taken aback, Zhao Rong looked at the stranger before him. ”Who are you, and what are you doing in my house?” he asked, taking a bite of his bread. Zhao Rong didn’t realize the intruder wasn’t human, nor did he recognize him as a level-seventeen magical beast that had taken human form.

Seeing the man who he thought had just been scared out of his mind now acting so calm and collected, the Gecko Man was momentarily stunned before bursting into laughter. ”Zhao Rong, I know you’re just putting on a brave face. You must be terrified of me, right?”

At this point, Zhao Rong was completely unaware of how powerful the Gecko Man was, nor did he know that the Damo Sword in his hand was an exceptionally mighty weapon. He simply assumed the man was an ordinary burglar.

Zhao Rong looked at him and smiled. ”Listen, thief, I’m warning you. I’m a level-fifteen powerhouse. If you don’t want your teeth knocked out, you should leave my villa quietly. Otherwise, don’t blame me for what happens next.”

Hearing the man who had been as timid as a mouse just moments ago suddenly act so formidable, the Gecko Man was slow to adjust. He gripped his Damo Sword tightly. ”Damn, you’re a real chameleon! One minute you’re a lecher peeping at girls in the bathroom, and the next, as soon as the lights are on, you’re trying to show off in front of the ladies!”

At that moment, Lili and Xuelian came out of their rooms. When they heard the accusation that Zhao Rong had been peeping at Yu Lan while she was bathing, they immediately questioned him. ”Brother Zhao Rong, if you wanted to watch, you could have just asked us. Why would you sneak around to peek?”

Zhao Rong was stunned. He looked up at the two beautiful women on the stairs and said, ”I was hungry, so I came to the kitchen for some bread. Who was I peeking at?”

Hearing him deny it, the Gecko Man stared at Zhao Rong and thought, Everyone says Zhao Rong is a great hero, both upright and just... But to me, the Gecko Man, he’s just a hypocrite who goes back on his word and loves to show off.

Now, the three women turned their attention to the Gecko Man. Lili looked at his unpleasant features and said, ”Brother Zhao Rong, who is this? He’s so ugly, he must be the ugliest man in the world.”

The Gecko Man was furious. I, the Gecko Man, am considered a top-tier handsome guy among magical beasts. How did I become the ugliest man in the world in front of you human beauties?

Before he could explode, Xuelian looked at him with a disgusted expression. ”Not only is he ugly, he’s unhygienic. Look how filthy he is. He looks like he picks through garbage for a living.”

Humiliated by two women, the Gecko Man finally snapped. ”I am the Gecko Man!” he roared. ”In Demon Beast Mountain, I am not only the most handsome but also the most hygienic magical beast! You dare to insult me? I’ll kill you all!”

With that, he gripped his Damo Sword and charged at Zhao Rong.

Only then did Zhao Rong realize the newcomer was hostile. He finally understood that this was no ordinary thief, but the Magic Beast Gecko Man from Demon Beast Mountain.
