Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 56: Chapter 49: Slapping the Show-Off Rich Guy in the Face

After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, Mage Erzhen announced happily, ”The banquet is over, and Liu Tianxiong has formally joined our team.” Since it was Friday, the True Martial Sect was observing a holiday, so everyone was free to go home afterward.

As soon as the feast concluded, Liu Tianxiong hurried over. In front of the three beautiful women, he pulled his Audi keys from his pocket and deliberately dangled them. ”Ladies, we’ve finished eating, and it’s getting late,” he said. ”Allow me to drive you home.”

The women watched the rich heir flaunt his keys and immediately refused. ”We don’t need your ride. We have Brother Zhao Rong to take us home.”

Hearing that Zhao Rong, a mere bodyguard, was going to take all three women home, Liu Tianxiong sneered inwardly. This pauper thinks he can drive three beauties home? In his dreams.

So, Liu Tianxiong said aloud, ”Ladies, you all have standards. How could you possibly pass up my Audi to ride in his junker?” In his mind, Zhao Rong could at best afford a cheap heap worth a few tens of thousands, nothing comparable to his own Audi.

In response, Zhao Rong turned around and said humbly, ”He’s right, my car is pretty old. If your car is better, then of course you should be the one to take the ladies home.”

This made Liu Tianxiong even more smug. Just as I thought. Even Zhao Rong admits his own car is a piece of junk. It looks like my Audi will be perfect for putting him in his place tonight.

With that, everyone headed to the True Martial Sect’s parking lot. As they walked in, Liu Tianxiong took out his car key and pressed a button. BEEP! The doors of his Audi A8 unlocked.

Liu Tianxiong leaped into the driver’s seat. ”Ladies, get in my car! It’s not only luxurious and classy, but most importantly, it’s expensive...”

Just as Liu Tianxiong was convinced the women would climb into his luxury car, a Mercedes Maybach worth over five million suddenly drove into the parking lot on autopilot.

Seeing the driverless Maybach, Liu Tianxiong frowned. Damn it, which trust fund kid has more money than me and is actually driving a Maybach? Still, at least he’s not here in person. Otherwise, this Maybach would completely put my Audi A8 to shame.

While Liu Tianxiong was still feeling pleased with himself, the driverless Maybach suddenly stopped right in front of Zhao Rong. Calmly, Zhao Rong took the Maybach’s key from his pocket and pressed a button. BEEP! The Maybach’s doors opened.

Zhao Rong, ever the gentleman, helped the three women into the car one by one before getting in himself.

When the arrogant Liu Tianxiong saw the supposedly poor bodyguard, Zhao Rong, with a Maybach, his jaw dropped. He stumbled out of his Audi, protesting, ”This is impossible! How can a bodyguard like Zhao Rong drive a better car than a rich heir like me?”

He rushed over to the Maybach. Seeing him approach, Zhao Rong rolled down the window. ”Junior Brother, we’ve all been drinking, so you shouldn’t drive,” he said. ”My car has a self-driving feature, plus I’ve hired a designated driver. Why don’t I give you a ride home?”

Compared to Liu Tianxiong’s intention to drive drunk, Zhao Rong’s car was not only capable of driving itself, but he had also hired a designated driver who was already waiting in the driver’s seat.

”Zhao Rong, what did you say?” Liu Tianxiong asked in disbelief. ”This Maybach, worth over five million, is your car?”

Zhao Rong nodded, completely unfazed. ”That’s right,” he said casually. ”It’s an import I bought a little while ago.”

Liu Tianxiong was stunned. He never would have dreamed that the shabby-looking bodyguard would own a Maybach that completely blew his own car out of the water. The show-off who loved to flaunt his wealth was utterly humiliated, humbled beyond belief.

Although incredibly embarrassed, Liu Tianxiong clung to one last sliver of hope. ”Zhao Rong, even if your car is better than mine, the place you live in the city can’t possibly be better than mine!”

”In this life, being a good person and doing good deeds is enough. Why compete over wealth? There’s no need,” Zhao Rong said indifferently.

Hearing this, Liu Tianxiong grew certain. Zhao Rong must be saying that because he lives in a dump. He’s just making excuses. He laughed heartily. ”Zhao Rong, let me tell you something! My apartment is in the best building of the best residential complex in the city. It’s 140 square meters and worth over a million!”

Even if his car is better than mine, it doesn’t matter, he thought proudly. My apartment will definitely put his to shame.

”Your place does sound nice,” Zhao Rong replied. ”Much better than mine.”

This only made Liu Tianxiong more arrogant. ”Zhao Rong, I know how it is with bodyguards like you who are terrified of being poor,” he sneered. ”You buy a fancy car to keep up appearances, but no matter how nice the car is, it can’t hide the hovel you live in.”

With that, Liu Tianxiong started his car and followed Zhao Rong, eager to see just how dilapidated his home really was. Along the way, he deliberately tried to race with him.

Seeing him speeding while drunk, Zhao Rong warned him, ”Junior Brother, drunk driving is illegal. You’d better not do it, or you’ll face the legal consequences.”

Liu Tianxiong ignored the warning and continued to tail Zhao Rong’s self-driving car. Soon, the Maybach came to a stop near a luxurious villa complex. After the car parked itself, Zhao Rong and the three women got out.

Liu Tianxiong, who had followed them the whole way, was utterly stunned to see Zhao Rong walk into the villa complex. He jogged ahead and cut him off.

”Zhao Rong, your place should be in the Shanty Town! What are you doing in a villa complex?”

Zhao Rong simply pointed to a magnificent villa nearby. ”I just bought it recently,” he said. ”Would you like to come in and take a look?”

When Liu Tianxiong heard that the magnificent villa was Zhao Rong’s, he was so shocked he felt weak at the knees.

”Zhao Rong, what... what did you say?” he stammered, his lips trembling. ”That villa... you bought it yourself?”

Zhao Rong nodded and casually pulled the purchase contract and property deed from his bag. ”Yup. I just got the deed not too long ago.”

When the disbelieving Liu Tianxiong saw Zhao Rong’s name written in black and white on the property deed, he was completely floored. He staggered back a few steps, then collapsed to the ground. Looking up at the sky, he sighed.

”I thought I, Liu Tianxiong, was some amazing rich heir... But I never imagined I’d run into someone even more incredible... And the worst part is, he’s so damn low-key about it! It turns out that compared to Zhao Rong, I’m the real short, ugly, and poor one...”

Before Liu Tianxiong could finish his lament, a police car pulled up from behind. A breathalyzer test confirmed that he was driving under the influence. The police then arrested the stunned Liu Tianxiong, who was still sitting dazedly on the ground.

Seeing the show-off get arrested for drunk driving, Lili said with satisfaction, ”He dug his own grave. He has no one to blame but himself.”

Yu Lan was even angrier. ”What a snob, always looking down on people!” she scolded. ”The Brother Zhao Rong of today is not who he once was! He earned his first fortune with his own two hands... not like you, Liu Tianxiong, who just mooches off your parents. You’re pathetic! I despise men like you!”

Xuelian was also indignant about Liu Tianxiong’s flaunting. ”Money comes from the people and should return to the people,” she said. ”You can’t bring it with you when you’re born, and you can’t take it with you when you die. People like him who love to show off are surely just covering up a deep-seated inferiority complex.”

After angrily berating Liu Tianxiong, the three women suddenly turned to Zhao Rong, their eyes filled with adoration.

Lili looked at him with admiration. ”Brother Zhao Rong, a real man should be like you, able to stand tall and proud.” With that, she rushed over and hugged him from the left.

Yu Lan gazed at him, her eyes full of fantasy and longing. ”Brother Zhao Rong, a man should be just like you—low-key, profound, and strategic.” She also rushed over and hugged him from the right.

With both women hugging him, only Xuelian remained standing in her spot. Yet, just as Xuelian looked ready to embrace him, Zhao Rong felt a different pair of arms—icy cold—wrap around him from behind.

Feeling himself being embraced by three women, Zhao Rong said happily, ”Lili is hugging me from the left, Yu Lan is hugging me from the right, and Xuelian is hugging me from behind—”

He stopped mid-sentence. He suddenly saw Xuelian standing directly in front of him. She hadn’t moved to hug him at all.

If Xuelian hasn’t hugged me, he thought, a chill running down his spine, then who is this woman hugging me from behind? Whose icy hands are these?
