Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 350: Chapter 346: The Principal’s Response

Although the school was on break, the duty office would definitely notify the principal if a student from their own school got into trouble.

Since the last Huaxia Koi event, Huo Sining had made a deep impression on the principal of S University, who even considered her a future hope of the school. Now, hearing someone on the internet defaming his student, the principal naturally couldn’t ignore it.

After thinking for a moment, the principal immediately called Qin Shaoyou, the counselor of Huo Sining’s class, to carefully inquire about what exactly was going on with Huo Sining.

Qin Shaoyou was also surprised when he heard what the principal said; he seldom paid attention to social media. He hadn’t expected that a magic performance at a welcome party would bring Huo Sining such big trouble.

After pondering for a moment, he said, ”Principal, Huo Sining is a good student. I’m not too clear about her situation before Bashu, but I’m sure she hasn’t engaged in any disreputable behaviors.”

”You’ve also seen this girl’s fish rearing skills; how could someone capable of breeding authentic Huaxia red and white koi be just an ordinary person?”

”In fact, several months ago, that child opened an ornamental fish store at Chenghuang Temple on her own merit. Professor Xie Daoyuan and I even went to celebrate when her store opened. The business is thriving, making a fortune every day. How could such a girl, who has money when she needs it and ability when it’s called for, degrade herself to being kept by someone?”

”Huo Sining’s identity is somewhat special. Although her parents are deceased, she recently found her relatives. Her aunt and great-uncle are still alive. You might not know her aunt, but you definitely know her uncle, Secretary Su Zhenhua.”

At first, the principal was not convinced; an orphan, having opened a shop in S City—where did she get the money from? But when he heard the latter part, his eyes widened in shock.

He certainly knew Su Zhenhua since their positions were roughly equivalent, and they would sometimes dine together. He knew that Su Zhenhua’s daughter was currently studying at S University and had been taken as a student by Professor Xie Daoyuan, but he had no idea that his wife’s niece was also at S University.

The ambiguous way Qin Shaoyou spoke completely dispelled the principal’s doubts.

The niece of the prominent municipal committee secretary, how could she possibly be kept by someone? That would be a joke. Given Su Zhenhua’s status, he would never allow his niece to engage in such embarrassing and demeaning behavior.

As for the money to open the store, the principal automatically assumed it came from the Su Family since only Su Zhenhua was in politics, and his son was wealthy. It would be no trouble for him to provide a sum of money to support his niece in opening a store.

Having received a positive answer, the principal became somewhat angry at the online defamation. After thinking it over, he, as the principal of S University, wrote a statement on social media.

A tree stands out in the forest, and the wind will surely destroy it. Rumors stop with the wise, but spreading rumors is not a cost-free crime. S University upholds the principles of remembering the source of one’s drinking water, cultivating virtues, and fostering learning. We have strict demands for our students and will not allow any to act against integrity, nor will we allow others to slander and harm the reputation of our students!

The principal’s statement, which was almost a rebuttal, instantly attracted a lot of attention.

Hearing S University’s direct response, which clearly aimed to defend Huo Sining and indicated a pursuit of legal responsibility for the rumor-monger, people began to realize something was amiss.

Now, netizens who had been riled up and nearly ready to denounce and attack divided into two groups.

One group supported the stance of the principal of S University. As the official spokesperson for S University, he represented the university’s position, and if a student had truly violated rules, they would unquestionably not be shielded. Therefore, many believed the principal and concluded that Mr. Handsome was slandering and spreading rumors.

However, there were also many who believed the evidence was sufficient, that Huo Sining must have had issues. How could a female student with nothing afford to attend university, learn magic, and keep a Tibetan Mastiff?

The quarrel on social media was fierce, but Zhang Jun was ecstatic. With the principal of S University getting involved, wasn’t this the perfect opportunity for him to create hype?

As for talk of defamation and legal responsibility, Zhang Jun didn’t give it a second thought. Isn’t that what a gossip reporter does, skinning people alive? Besides, all the evidence he had was real; it just underwent some artistic processing, but he didn’t fabricate anything!

Zhang Jun believed he was in the right since all the evidence he held was true, so he stood his ground with confidence. He ignored those who criticized him and just waited for the right moment to unleash his final trump card.

”What’s going on? Why did our magazine’s Weibo suddenly gain thousands of followers today?”

It was a little past nine but not yet ten when Zhang Jun heard someone shouting in the office. That person was the online editor responsible for managing the magazine’s Weibo account. Seeing the sudden surge in follower numbers, they immediately sensed something was amiss.

The online editor followed the trail of Weibo comments and quickly discovered the reason for the increase in followers, then reported the unusual event to the editor-in-chief.

The editor-in-chief stepped out of his office, surveyed the workspace, and asked, ”Who is Mr. Handsome?”

Everyone looked at each other in surprise. Zhang Jun shivered inside, thinking to himself, has it finally come? His lips curled into a slight smile as he stood up and said, ”Editor-in-chief, that would be me.”

The editor-in-chief squinted at Zhang Jun, nodded, and said, ”Come into my office for a moment.”

Zhang Jun followed the editor-in-chief, feeling both excited and apprehensive. The other reporters and editors pretended to be busy with their work, but in reality, they were all ears. Some even whispered to each other, speculating quietly.

”What’s going on? Who is Mr. Handsome?”

”Haven’t you seen Weibo? Something big has happened; Miss Magic has been exposed. I just saw it too. The person who did it is from our magazine.”

”Zhang Jun is always so quiet and unassuming; who would have thought he was such a heavy-hitter? How did he manage to get his hands on such a big scoop?”

”Hasn’t he been interning for several months? It turns out he was just biding his time, ready for a big break. With such big news, I bet the editor-in-chief will offer him a permanent position tomorrow!”

The whispers reached the ears of the group leader, whose face instantly turned ashen. His gaze swept over Zhang Jun’s back, and a cold light flashed in his eyes.

Zhang Jun’s face maintained a composed facade as he entered the office and casually shut the door behind him, blocking the curious and gossipy gazes from outside.

”Did you get this news about Miss Magic?” the editor-in-chief asked, opening Weibo directly.

Zhang Jun nodded.

”Is it true?” the editor-in-chief asked again.

Zhang Jun hesitated for a moment before saying, ”It’s true. I got in touch with Miss Magic’s high school best friend and college roommate. The evidence was provided by them. These two people don’t know each other and certainly hadn’t coordinated beforehand, yet the evidence they gave me was consistent.”
