Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 345: Chapter 341: I Want to Expose Secrets

Wu Jingyi didn’t want Huo Sining to have things go so smoothly for her, and upon watching Huo Sining’s video, the corners of her mouth curved into a cold smirk.

”Zhang Jun, aren’t you still interning at the newspaper? I’ve got a big scoop. Do you want it or not?”

Zhang Jun was somewhat surprised to receive Wu Jingyi’s call. His acquaintance with Wu Jingyi was a complete coincidence.

Zhang Jun was from Baiyun Village, studied at Capital City Media University, and was three grades above Wu Jingyi.

In a city as vast as the Imperial Capital, it would stand to reason that the two would have no intersection at all, but things coincidentally worked out such that, on the day Wu Jingyi received her acceptance notification from Di Du Medical University and was taking the train to the Imperial Capital, she ran into Zhang Jun, who was returning to school, in the train station waiting room.

Seeing that Wu Jingyi was pretty, Zhang Jun, out of a desire to impress and win favor from a beautiful girl, took the initiative to help Wu Jingyi with her luggage. After boarding the same train, they realized they were seated next to each other by chance.

During the ten hours sitting on the train, the two naturally warmed up to each other quite quickly. Throughout their casual conversation, Wu Jingyi learned that Zhang Jun was studying journalism and would be a senior in the second half of the year, ready to intern, while Zhang Jun, upon learning that Wu Jingyi was a freshman at the Medical University, even took the initiative to recommend jobs for her, which she declined, finding them too tiring.

Afterwards, although they exchanged mobile numbers and Penguin accounts, they hardly kept in touch afterwards.

Wu Jingyi only knew that Zhang Jun was interning at a small newspaper in the Imperial Capital and hadn’t been made a staff member yet. She wasn’t clear on the rest.

Feeling that being a reporter didn’t have much of a future, Wu Jingyi looked down on Zhang Jun and couldn’t be bothered to spend time dealing with him. She just didn’t expect to need him so soon.

Zhang Jun, when he heard Wu Jingyi say she had news to break, was caught off guard and couldn’t help but be skeptical. In his view, what valuable scoop could a mere Medical University student like Wu Jingyi have? He guessed it was probably just some minor friction between students.

”This has to do with whether you can become a staff member or not. This is definitely exclusive news. If you don’t want it, forget it!”

Seeing Zhang Jun not responding, Wu Jingyi, without needing to guess, knew Zhang Jun didn’t believe she had a major scoop. She snorted in dissatisfaction and spoke unhappily.

Hearing Wu Jingyi remind him he had not yet been made a staff member, Zhang Jun looked somewhat embarrassed and a little annoyed.

Even though he was working at a small newspaper, the place was flooded with interns competing to be hired permanently. To secure a staff position, he needed to prove himself.

He had been interning at the newspaper for nearly four months without catching any eye-catching major news. The editor was getting impatient and had mentioned several times that he should go out and find news, warning him that if he couldn’t bring back a big story, his internship spot might be taken by someone else.

Now that Wu Jingyi had so rudely hit him where it hurt, could he not be angry? But what Wu Jingyi said was true, and he was powerless to refute it.

”What scoop? At least tell me who it’s about,” he said.

Zhang Jun was indecisive and lacked the boldness needed for a reporter, and while such people are often eager for quick success and tend to not stick to principles or bottom lines, they were precisely the kind of help Wu Jingyi needed. So, even though Wu Jingyi looked down on Zhang Jun, she still had to hand this scoop over to him to handle.

”Have you seen the video that’s been getting popular online lately, the one that’s a hot topic on Weibo?”

Zhang Jun’s spirits were instantly lifted when he heard this: ”Are you talking about Miss Magic of S University? Of course, I’ve seen it. She’s in the top ten trending topics, and her magic performance was really spectacular!”

”That’s the one.” Hearing Zhang Jun also praise Huo Sining’s magic performance as amazing, Wu Jingyi’s face stiffened, and her voice cooled down, ”The news I want to expose is related to the girl performing magic.”

”Ah?” Zhang Jun was taken aback, ”Expose her? You know this girl?”

Wu Jingyi said, ”She was my high school classmate, and even my best friend back in high school. Don’t mention knowing her – even if she turned to ash, I would recognize her.”

Zhang Jun snapped back to reality, his eyes gleaming with surprise and excitement. He swallowed hard and asked, ”You mentioned an exclusive expose. What’s it about?”

”Aren’t there so many people online idolizing her as a goddess?” Wu Jingyi chuckled coldly, ”Then I’ll expose her unknown side and let everyone see the true face of this hypocritical villain!”

After calling Zhang Jun, Wu Jingyi still felt unsatisfied.

Communication was cut off in Baiyun Village, so Huo Sining’s Aunt Xu Lian definitely had no clue about it.

Wu Jingyi remembered how furious Xu Lian became when she mentioned Huo Sining during their last phone call, which showed that Huo Sining must have broken ties with the Huo family.

But what if Xu Lian found out that the person she loathed to the bone didn’t live in poverty after running away from home, but instead went to college and became a national sensation just by performing a few magic tricks?

Xu Lian, that ruthless person, would definitely cling to that wretch Huo Sining. Perhaps she would even blackmail her with the so-called favor of raising her for over a decade, forcing Huo Sining to support her.

Being entangled by a blood-sucking leech, Huo Sining’s future days would definitely be miserable!

With a cold sneer in her heart, Wu Jingyi skillfully dialed the Huo family’s landline, and the call was quickly connected.

”Who is it?” An impatient female voice came from the other end of the phone.

Having grown up with Huo Sining, Wu Jingyi had heard Xu Lian curse Huo Sining countless times, so she immediately recognized the voice as Xu Lian’s.

”I’m a classmate of Huo Sining’s. Please don’t hang up, listen to what I have to say!”

Wu Jingyi had previously been scolded by Xu Lian over the phone, so she made sure to stabilize Xu Lian before she continued.

Hearing Wu Jingyi claim to be Huo Sining’s classmate, Xu Lian was about to lash out with curses, but upon hearing the latter’s remark, she swallowed the words on her lips, with suspicion mixed with disbelief, ”Speak!”

Wu Jingyi purposely made her voice deeper and rougher, afraid that Xu Lian would recognize who she was.

”I know you’re Huo Sining’s Aunt. I came to bring you news that since Huo Sining ran away from Baiyun Village half a year ago, she hasn’t contacted you again, right?”

”What I want to tell you is, Huo Sining is now studying at S University’s School of Biological Sciences. She’s living very well. Recently, she performed a magic trick at the school’s freshman welcome party that went viral online and became extremely popular.”

”There are already people saying they want to invite her to perform at the Spring Festival Gala. If that happens, at this rate, it won’t be long before she becomes famous!”

Hearing Wu Jingyi’s words, Xu Lian was dumbstruck. It took her a long while to gather her wits, and she asked with some disbelief,

”Is what you’re saying true? You’re not a scammer, are you? You said you’re Huo Sining’s classmate, what’s your name?”
