Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 319: Chapter 316: Outdoing Ruthlessness

The man stopping them was from Wei District, and he drew the knife from his waist as soon as he approached.

At the sight, Huo Sining’s expression drastically changed, ”Mr. Ji, be careful!”

Before Huo Sining had finished her warning, someone had already pounced on the assailant.

Huo Sining was stunned for a moment, still not having fully reacted, when Su Qingqing had already rushed to the Wei District man’s side, twisting his arm behind his back with a reverse grip, causing the knife in his hand to clatter to the ground.

Su Qingqing moved quickly, with clean and efficient techniques, showing skills that were not at all inferior to the moves Gu Xu used to subdue the thugs at Guangzhou Airport that day.

Huo Sining had long known that Su Qingqing had practiced taekwondo and had even earned a green belt, but she had never seen Su Qingqing demonstrate her skills until now, and she was both shocked and impressed.

For a girl to easily subdue a big and burly man so effortlessly, even if it was a surprise attack, was no simple feat, yet Su Qingqing made it look easy, proving the adage that appearances can be deceiving.

The incident happened so suddenly that many people on the scene did not have time to react. By the time Su Qingqing subdued the knife-wielding Wei District man, the onlookers had scattered in panic, eager to escape involvement in the dispute.

Even the young man who had received Ji Kun’s help fled in terror, not daring to glance back, and quickly disappeared into the crowd.

The Wei District vendor hadn’t expected this turn of events and became furious, rattling off a few sentences in the Uyghur language. Seeing their companion subdued, several of his associates ran over to help.

Su Qingqing became a bit flustered upon seeing this; she hadn’t thought much in that moment, simply intending to wrest the dagger from the attacker’s grasp. She hadn’t considered that she, alone, couldn’t possibly face off against five or six strong men.

Huo Sining also panicked. The Wei District, being an autonomous region, was not fully governed by national law. Furthermore, the state’s consistent leniency toward ethnic minorities had emboldened some extremist elements from the Wei District.

Si Ning had heard that, in her previous life, killing several people in Hotan District would result in just a few years’ imprisonment. Now, as outsiders clashing with Wei District people on their turf, they were undoubtedly at a disadvantage.

Knowing that they could not overpower the situation, Huo Sining decided they had to outsmart it. After some thought, she stealthily approached the vendor, and then swiftly pulled out a fruit knife from her storage ring and, catching him off guard, placed it against the vendor’s neck.

One couldn’t blame Huo Sining for her impulsive action; in that situation, she truly had no other choice. It was acceptable to intervene, but she couldn’t let anyone lose their life over it.

Huo Sining’s fruit knife was heavy and sharp, originally kept for self-defense. She had stored it in her Space ring, allowing her to board the plane without worry of detection. She hadn’t expected it to come in handy now.

Feeling the cold, sharp edge of the knife against his own neck, the boss who had been looking fierce was now pale with fright.

Huo Sining shouted loudly. The Wei District men ready to make a move turned their heads and, seeing their comrade with a knife to his neck and even though Huo Sining was just a woman, the serious and calm expression on Huo Sining’s face made them realize she was not joking. They stopped in their tracks, glaring intently at Huo Sining.

While signaling for Su Qingqing and Ji Kun to retreat, Huo Sining turned back to the Wei District vendor and said, ”Boss, you’re also here to make money. It would be unfortunate to have casualties. How about we both step back a bit, okay?”

The boss tilted back his neck, not daring to take any rash action, and stammered, ”It’s... it was him who was underhanded first, cutting off people’s livelihood, right at the end of the year... Entire families are waiting with their mouths wide open... Us brothers, we’re all counting on selling these stones to go home and celebrate the new year...”

Huo Sining heard this and a trace of disdain flashed in her eyes. Liars always have a pile of excuses, but never reflect on whether they themselves are at fault.

Moreover, for those who live by deceit, Huo Sining utterly despised them from the bottom of her heart. These people had no moral baseline whatsoever. For the sake of a bit of money, they could lose their sanity, turn on each other with blades, or even take a life so casually that it could only be described as utterly insane.

But Huo Sining was indeed somewhat wary. They still had to stay in Hotan District for a few more days, and she didn’t know if these people had other accomplices or forces. If they made an enemy out of them too much, they might come looking for trouble later on.

With that thought, Huo Sining gestured to Li Quan and said, ”Li Quan, we’ll buy this stone. Give them ten thousand RMB!” That was the price previously discussed by the young man and the vendor.

Li Quan didn’t say much else and took out a stack of RMB from his backpack. It was bank-tied, a neat ten thousand, and directly handed it to the vendor.

The vendor hesitated for a moment before reaching out and taking the money.

Huo Sining sneered, ”The money is now in hand, and you’ve achieved your goal. However, I advise you to hold back on any further schemes. We out-of-towners aren’t easy to bully. If pushed too far, my knife may go in white but come out red. If I can’t live well, you definitely won’t survive!”

The vendor, hearing Huo Sining’s threatening words, was immediately frightened and awkwardly tugged at the corner of his mouth as he dryly said, ”We’re just doing honest business here, we have no interest in that murderous greed. Miss, you can put your knife away now, rest assured, since the money is in hand, we naturally won’t pursue this matter any further!”

Huo Sining put away her fruit knife, and those few Wei District people, seeing Li Quan had given the money, instantly smiled brightly. They no longer made a fuss, divided the money with the vendor, and left. They didn’t seem to have any intention of further entangling with Huo Sining and her group.

The crisis was averted, and Mr. Ji’s originally somber face immediately relaxed. He had been ready to call a friend for help, but now he put down his phone and turned around to look at Huo Sining with a smile:

”Young lady, you don’t seem very old, but I didn’t expect you to be quite tough.”

Huo Sining was somewhat surprised. She and Su Qingqing had helped Mr. Ji, but the man hadn’t offered a single word of thanks, acting in a way that was completely unconventional.

However, his demeanor was humble, giving off a feeling as refreshing as a spring breeze, which made him rather likable.

Laughing at his words, Huo Sining said, ”I wouldn’t say I’m tough. As long as you don’t blame us for sticking our noses into your business like a dog chasing mice, it’s fine.”

Mr. Ji laughed, ”Without you, I’d probably be in the hospital right now. Not only am I not thanking you, but how could I possibly blame you? You aren’t locals, are you?”

Huo Sining shook her head, ”We’re from S City, came here to take care of some business. We heard there was a market, so we stopped by to have a look.”

Mr. Ji smiled, ”No wonder. The local Han people wouldn’t intervene in conflicts with these Wei District people, afraid of bringing trouble upon themselves. You helped me out this time; aren’t you afraid those people will come looking for trouble with you next?”
