Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 331: Chapter 327: Beat Him to a Pulp

When the gangsters from Wei District realized the woman they kidnapped had escaped, they were all dumbfounded.

The one leading the group, his face an ashen hue, was rushing to the kidnapping location while instructing the gangsters to search for the woman in every direction along Moyu River.

Yu Cheng, who had infiltrated the Moyu River area, spotted a group of gangsters from afar. Initially, he wanted to order their capture directly, but after some consideration, he decided against it. Since the situation was unclear and he didn’t want to provoke the kidnappers, he dared not act rashly.

However, it didn’t take long before he noticed something was amiss. The gangsters started to disperse, heading in various directions along the Yu River, and each of them was carrying a stick, appearing as though they were searching for something.

Yu Cheng felt a surge of panic, wondering if their cover had been blown.

That couldn’t be possible. Falcon’s infiltration was top-notch, always standing out during practice drills with other units. It didn’t make sense that they would be detected by some ordinary people.

”Yu Squad Leader, what’s going on?” a soldier nearby asked in a hushed voice, his confusion evident.

”I don’t know, let’s wait and see,” Yu Cheng responded, equally bewildered. Could it be that the gangsters had caught wind of something and were planning to run?

”I think they’re looking for someone. Could it be that the hostage has escaped?!” one of the younger soldiers couldn’t help but share his speculation.

Yu Cheng couldn’t help but rap the young soldier on the head with a flick, scolding him annoyed, ”Do you think those gangsters are idiots? Knowing to kidnap someone in such a remote place makes it easier to escape and daring to demand ten million, do you think they did this on a whim? They definitely acted after careful consideration and meticulous planning. The hostage is a woman; how could she possibly escape from the kidnappers that easily?”

Not long after Yu Cheng finished scolding, a gangster ran towards them from not too far away. Just as Yu Cheng was about to instruct his soldiers to stay hidden, the gangster muttered something:

”F**k, four guys couldn’t watch one woman, were they all reared on s**t? Now she’s run off, who knows where she’s hiding, how are we supposed to find her in such a big place?!”

The gangster was speaking in Uyghur, but among Falcon, Yu Cheng and another squad leader understood the language. After hearing the gangster’s grumbling, they were stunned, turning their heads to look at each other with mutual understanding.

Yu Cheng gestured to a few soldiers beside him, and they immediately caught on. As the gangster ran into the bushes, they pounced on him, covering his mouth and swiftly subduing him in a matter of seconds, without drawing the attention of a few other gangsters nearby.

”Behave! See what I’m wearing? Special Forces from the Northwest District. Dealing with you is a piece of cake. If you want to suffer, don’t blame me for not warning you!”

Seeing the gangster’s continued attempts to struggle, Yu Cheng reprimanded him in Uyghur in a low voice.

The man, looking at Yu Cheng with uncertainty, saw the desert camouflage on his body, faltered for a moment, and then quickly ceased his struggling.

The gangster had had encounters with military personnel before, but why were they here, capturing him with such an interrogative stance?

Panic and tension rose within the gangster as his gaze flickered, fixated on Yu Cheng.

Yu Cheng scoffed, ”You’re so cowardly yet dare to be a kidnapper. With able hands and feet, why don’t you find an honest job instead?!”

The gangster said nothing, and Yu Cheng didn’t need his answer.

”Where’s the hostage you kidnapped? Where is she hidden?”

Yu Cheng’s tone was casual, but he had one foot on the gangster’s chest, his intentions lethal, hinting that if the man didn’t give a straight answer soon, that foot would press down hard.

The thug also sensed the danger, originally thinking of playing coy and claiming the girl wasn’t kidnapped by him and that he had no idea, but the coldness in Yu Cheng’s eyes told him this wasn’t a joke—his life was truly in peril.

With this realization, the thug involuntarily shuddered and stammered in Mandarin:

”That woman... she... she ran away, we just... just got the message..., and... and the boss is telling... telling us to go find... find her!”

She really got away?! Damn it, how did that woman manage to do it?

Not just Yu Cheng, but everyone in the entire platoon was stunned.

However, now wasn’t the time to be dumbstruck; Yu Cheng immediately knew there was a turn of events and quickly took out his phone to call Gu Xu’s side.

Gu Xu’s face was tense, while Ouyang Jun drove the car, not speeding, but the occasional small or large pebbles that struck the undercarriage producing sharp or dull sounds that were disconcerting.

The overwhelming yellow sand and pebbles seemed to have paused time itself; Gu Xu clutched the phone in his hand, the signal fluctuating, mirroring the ups and downs of his mood.

”Xu Zi, don’t worry, those people are just after money, they definitely won’t dare to do anything rash. Plus, Miss Huo is clever, she definitely won’t get into trouble.”

Having driven the whole way here, Gu Xu was constantly tense, and Ouyang Jun felt a sense of guilt, as it was while accompanying him to inspect raw materials that Huo Sining had gotten into trouble. Seeing Gu Xu’s expression, he hesitated for a long time before finally speaking to offer some comfort.

Leaning wearily against the car, Gu Xu felt a void welling up within him:

”Jun Zi, when we get back, I need you and the guys to help me think of ways to woo my wife. I can’t rest easy without having this woman tied to my side.”

Ouyang Jun chuckled helplessly, nodding, ”Okay, when the time comes, I’ll have Song Hui and Qin Tian, those two playboys, cook up some strategies for you. You’ll have her in the palm of your hand.”

Gu Xu managed a forced smile, thanking him dryly while his gaze was fixed on Moyu River in the distance, with anxiety slowly building up within.

Just then, a sudden, grating ringtone from the phone shattered the silence, and Gu Xu reflexively grabbed the phone to answer without even seeing who was calling clearly.

”Hello?”

The call connected, and Yu Cheng’s voice came through urgently: ”Captain, great news, the hostage has escaped!”

”What happened?” Gu Xu’s expression froze, and he unconsciously stopped massaging the bridge of his nose as he pressed for details.

”We don’t know the specifics yet. We caught a thug and only after questioning him did we find out—they didn’t watch the hostage closely, and she managed to escape on her own. Now those gangsters are scrambling to find her.”

Gu Xu felt as if a weight had been lifted from his chest, and he suddenly came alive, as if he had taken a walk along the edge of life and death and finally glimpsed the dawn.

”This area is all wilderness; she can’t run far even if she escapes. Now that she has gotten away, she can’t fall into the kidnappers’ hands again. Arrange it so, some of us go to find her, and the others take on the kidnappers. Without the hostage, there are no reservations— if those guys resist, beat them to a pulp!”

Gu Xu tried to suppress the intense pounding in his heart, his voice carrying an indisputable calmness, yet Ouyang Jun, who knew him well, still heard the uncontrollable tremble in Gu Xu’s voice.
