Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 312: Chapter 309: Where Did It Go

Huo Sining signaled for Du Yanlin to lower her head, indicating that she was about to close the wooden box lid.

Though Du Yanlin hesitated, she subconsciously felt it was impossible, so when Huo Sining asked her to lower her head, she complied.

As she bowed her head inside the box, she snorted in her mind, finding the whole thing utterly absurd.

The moment she lowered her head, Huo Sining intentionally pressed down on her shoulders with both hands, but Du Yanlin, completely unaware, didn’t mind.

Carefully closing the box, Huo Sining did not forget to cover it with the red silk ribbon before turning around to face the audience. ”Do you think I will succeed?”

Some in the audience said she would while others doubted, but everyone was staring intently at the tightly closed box.

Huo Sining laughed, ”To find out if I will or won’t succeed, of course, we need to lift the lid of the box. Whether I can transform this into a living person, success or failure hinges on this moment. What to do, I’m so nervous!”

With feigned anxiety, Huo Sining pressed her hands together in prayer, mimicking the gesture of pleading to the heavens, eliciting a round of hearty laughter from the audience.

”Oh well, let’s just go with it!”

Huo Sining carelessly shook her hands and walked over to the box, tossing the red silk ribbon aside.

Everyone held their breath, waiting for the moment the box would be opened.

Huo Sining reached for the box’s handle and, looking towards the audience, said, ”And now, the moment to witness the miracle!”

Huo Sining flung open the wooden box, and just as the audience fixed their gaze inside the box, a large brown dog burst out of it.

”Ah!”

The audience was startled for a moment, and when they looked back at the stage, they saw a Tibetan Mastiff wrapping its legs around Huo Sining, licking her face with its tongue.

”Uh...how did it turn into a dog?”

”Isn’t that the same dog that Huo Sining made disappear from the cage earlier? How did it run out of this box?”

”Right, if the dog came out, where did the host go? Where is the host?”

All necks were stretched to see if the female host was still inside the box. Naturally, Huo Sining wanted to fulfill everyone’s wish; she leaned close to the box, feigned a terrified gesture with an exaggerated startle, then tipped the wooden box over for everyone to see.

To the audience’s surprise, they discovered that the wooden box, which had held the host, was now completely empty.

”Oh no, I messed up, lost the beautiful host, and instead brought my dog back!”

Huo Sining reached out pretending to hit the Tibetan Mastiff, but unexpectedly, the dog suddenly turned and, with its plump rear end aimed at her, ran without looking back towards Su Qingqing’s direction.

The laughter burst forth from the audience once again, followed by another round of applause, with everyone exclaiming that it was nothing short of a miracle!

Only one person hid in a corner, pale with fear, and that was Du Yanlin’s roommate, Xue Jingjing.

Initially, she had not believed Huo Sining’s ability to transform people, but now that Du Yanlin had truly disappeared, Xue Jingjing was overcome with panic.

She was terrified, that simply by putting Du Yanlin in a box, she could make a person vanish. It was too frightening.

Everyone was clapping, screaming, and exclaiming, except for Xue Jingjing, whose face was pale as death. Where did Du Yanlin go? Where had Du Yanlin disappeared to?

”Oh no, what do we do if the host has vanished? It seems like none of you are worried at all.” Once the audience had finally quieted down, Huo Sining asked the people below the stage.

”We’re not worried, just change her back!” The audience shouted with laughter.

”Aren’t you afraid I won’t be able to change her back?” Huo Sining asked, puzzled.

”Not afraid!” the audience shook their heads in unison.

”All right then.” Huo Sining spread her hands, ”Since you all trust me so much, I’ll change her back.”

With those words, she walked over to the big wooden box and closed the lid.

Everyone was waiting for her to start spinning around as the next part of the act, but to their surprise, the moment she closed the lid, she suddenly flung it open again, and everyone’s eyes went wide.

In the previously empty box, the beautiful hostess who had disappeared was now back inside, still in the same pose as when she had entered the box. Seeing the box open, she looked up at Huo Sining with puzzlement:

”What’s the matter? Weren’t we going to perform a big ’live person’ magic trick, why did you open the box again?”

Huo Sining, with a smile on her face: ”It’s already over!”

The audience could only applaud, the previously paused cheers immediately filled the venue, and the screaming reached its peak.

Huo Sining’s magic, one surprise after another, captured everyone’s hearts.

Such excellent magic, even a rarity on television, but today, right before their eyes, on this stage, it was one of their peers who had performed a miracle for them.

At this moment, everyone wished the show would never end, hoping Huo Sining would keep performing.

Huo Sining smiled and took a bow, receiving applause, cheers, and screams from the thousands in the audience, which went on and on, leaving only Du Yanlin on stage looking utterly bewildered.

What on earth was going on? Her time in that box was just a blink of an eye, definitely no more than three seconds. Wasn’t it supposed to be a ’live person’ magic trick? She hadn’t disappeared from the box at all, so why were these people so excitedly clapping and cheering?

What Du Yanlin didn’t know was that, in the previous minutes, she wasn’t in the box at all, but had been sent by Huo Sining into a time-frozen space. Thus, during the process of entering and exiting, she felt nothing and thought she had remained in the box the whole time.

The welcome party ended amid a heated discussion from the audience, but the craze over Huo Sining’s magic act was far from over.

Magic provides a strong and shocking sensory experience, and S City TV Station along with the Morning News specifically reported on the magic show at the evening party.

On the school forum, the video of the party filmed by the school was also released due to the strong demand from the students.

Soon, students from the computer science department extracted Huo Sining’s magic act from the video and spread it wildly around the campus.

Many people began posting on the school forum, discussing and wanting to unravel the mystery behind Huo Sining’s magic.

However, seeing the video of the ’live person’ segment, Du Yanlin was so scared that she was utterly dumbfounded.

Others might not be clear about it, but she was the firsthand witness to this magic. She was certain that her time in the box was nothing more than an instant, she hadn’t even had time to react badly, when Huo Sining closed and then suddenly opened the box, after which she walked out.

But what was the deal with this video? From the time that Tibetan Mastiff jumped out until Huo Sining closed the box again, where had she gone?
