Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 313: Chapter 310 Heading to Hetian

The more Du Yanlin thought about it, the more afraid she became, finding Huo Sining’s smile in the video to be like that of a devil from hell.

It wasn’t just Du Yanlin who wanted to know, Xue Jingjing and even students who had seen Huo Sining’s performance were curious as well.

Everyone was hounding Du Yanlin with questions about where she had been during that time and how exactly she had managed to escape from the box, wondering if there was some kind of secret door that could move within it.

Every time someone asked about this, Du Yanlin’s face would turn deathly pale.

”Du Yanlin, you’re so lucky, I also really want to experience the thrill of the ’Metamorphosis’ magic trick!”

Many of the girls at the orientation party were green with envy over Du Yanlin, the lucky one.

In the magic show that seemed perfectly normal to everyone else, she deeply felt the malice in Huo Sining’s intentions and the danger hidden behind that smile.

She even suspected that Huo Sining was fully capable of making her disappear without anyone else noticing.

Du Yanlin shivered subconsciously, feeling a wave of fear over her folly in seeking trouble with Huo Sining.

If before she felt nothing but resentment and jealousy towards Huo Sining, now whenever she thought of her, all that remained in her heart was profound fear.

She definitely did not want to experience something like that a second time, so for the sake of her own safety, she made up her mind to stay as far away from that woman Huo Sining as possible, no longer wanting to hold onto any grudges, the further the distance, the better.

Huo Sining had no idea that a simple prank had caused Du Yanlin to shun her like a venomous snake.

After the orientation party came the New Year’s Day holiday; the term-end exams had already concluded, and in just a couple of days, the winter vacation would start, so she and Bai Yishan were getting ready to head directly to Hetian.

Upon learning that Huo Sining was going to Hetian, Su Qingqing wouldn’t dream of not following along. After thinking about her purpose for this trip to Hetian, Huo Sining made a phone call to Li Quan.

Li Quan’s grandmother had made a quick recovery after her surgery and had been discharged from Tongren Hospital a week earlier. As soon as she was out, Li Quan sought out Huo Sining to inquire about when he could start work.

Huo Sining was busy preparing for her term-end exams and the orientation party then, so naturally, she had no tasks for him and told him to wait at home for notification.

Considering she didn’t know what kinds of situations they would encounter in Hetian, and having a man along would undoubtedly be safer, Huo Sining decided to have Li Quan join them on the trip.

Hetian is located at the southern edge of the Uyghur Autonomous Region, right at the foot of the Kunlun Mountain.

Speaking of Hetian, Hetian Jade must be mentioned.

The difference between Hetian Jade and Jadeite is that the former is nephrite, while the latter is jadeite.

Jadeite is a treasure of Myanmar, but it’s a commodity that was introduced to Huaxia Country and hyped up to become popular only in the past two hundred years or so.

Hetian Jade, on the other hand, is a precious gem passed down through the generations in Huaxia Country, the truly esteemed jade that the ancestors of Huaxia revered.

Gentlemen are comparable to jade, elegant and lustrous like pearls and jade, a golden branch adorned with jade leaves; almost all expressions related to jade in Huaxia Country are beautiful.

But these expressions have nothing to do with Jadeite — they describe nephrite.

Though Jadeite is beautiful, when compared to nephrite, it’s the nephrite with its deeper historical significance that truly embodies tradition.

Soft jade has the effect of enhancing spirituality, and it also boasts cosmetic and health benefits such as invigorating the circulation of blood. Hence, many domestic collectors are fond of soft jade, and to own an inheritable piece of Hetian Jade as a family heirloom is a matter of great pride for them.

Therefore, before coming to Hetian, Huo Sining had collected information from various sources, with the aim of visiting the Heiyu and Baiyu Rivers in Hotan County, known for their abundant Hetian Jade, after her arrival.

Although she was accompanying Bai Yishan to seek out a master sculptor, Huo Sining felt that she couldn’t let the trip go to waste. Seizing this opportunity, how could she not gather some treasures?

Since they didn’t have the specific address of Master Yan, Huo Sining and her group planned to first find a place to stay upon their arrival in Hetian and then ask around for his location.

But to Huo Sining and the others’ surprise, Master Yan had a significant reputation in Hetian. After they checked into a small inn in Hotan County and inquired with the innkeeper, he laughed immediately and said, ”You must be looking for Mr. Yan from Chunshengtang; let me take you there.”

Saying this, the innkeeper immediately led Huo Sining and her companions outside, and after a twenty-minute walk through deep alleys, they arrived at an ancient alleyway.

Along the way, Li Quan chatted with the leading innkeeper and learned quite a bit about Master Yan.

To Huo Sining and the others’ amazement, though Master Yan’s sculpting skills were renowned in Hetian, his reputation as a traditional medicine practitioner was even greater.

Master Yan was a master of traditional medicine, highly skilled in his craft. In Hetian, anyone who fell ill would seek his treatment. He also owned a herbal medicine shop in Hetian, which, according to stories, had been passed down through generations of the Yan family for several hundred years.

A sculptor and a medical practitioner—these two professions were indeed hard to reconcile. Huo Sining couldn’t help admitting that Master Yan was surely an eccentric.

Before long, they arrived at an old residence, simply marked with two characters on the door lintel: ”Yan Residence.”

The couplets beside the door were exceptionally succinct and odd. The first line read ”Demons fall into magic,” and the second, ”Immortals enter the mortal world.”

Seeing such couplets, Huo Sining felt quite puzzled. The couplets of ordinary households usually conveyed auspicious meanings, such as the arrival of wealth and good fortune, but the Yan family’s couplets seemed more like secret codes or enlightening aphorisms.

However, Huo Sining glanced at them and moved on without giving it much thought.

In her eyes, Master Yan was an odd character himself, so putting up such strange couplets seemed like normal behavior to her.

The innkeeper who led the way took hold of the iron door knocker and started knocking. The alley was extremely quiet, and the knocking sound traveled far.

Initially, the courtyard was serene, but as the knocking resumed, there seemed to be a barking dog inside, and soon hurried footsteps followed.

”Coming, coming, Lei Shi, you behave yourself, hear me? I warn you, if you don’t behave, I will throw you into the Hotan River!”

A very deep and pleasant male voice came from inside the house. Even his threatening words sounded melodious.

No sooner had his voice died down than a low growl from the dog could be heard from inside, seemingly dissatisfied with its master’s words.

After a few seconds, the yard gate was half-opened, and someone came out. Seeing the one who was knocking, he smiled and said, ”Uncle Liu, what brings you here to my place?”

After finishing his greeting, he then noticed Huo Sining and the others standing behind the innkeeper and was momentarily taken aback.

”It’s not me. These friends here said they were looking for you, so I led them to you,” the innkeeper explained, then cautiously inquired, ”Are you free?”

The man nodded, opened the door wider, and said indifferently, ”Then come in.”

As he spoke, his gaze discreetly fell on Huo Sining, who was standing behind the innkeeper, and there was a flicker in his eyes.
