Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 341: Chapter 337: The Dog King

Even a fool could see that something was amiss now.

Heitan was entirely black, and after being away for some time, some mane had grown behind its head, making it look indeed of decent quality. However, no matter how good it was, it was still just a young Tibetan Mastiff that hadn’t reached adulthood yet.

Lei Shi was an adult Tibetan Mastiff and was usually imposing and incredibly intimidating, yet it seemed to harbor a considerable amount of wariness and fear toward the not-yet-five-month-old Tibetan Mastiff Heitan.

Furthermore, Lei Shi kept barking, clearly trying to make a show of toughness, while Heitan cocked its head, seeming quite puzzled.

”Hahaha, good job, Heitan!” Although she didn’t quite understand what was going on, that didn’t stop Su Qingqing from cheering for Heitan.

The last time Su Qingqing went to the Yan Residence, she was eager to pet Lei Shi, only to find out that Lei Shi actually jumped into the hot springs for a bath before approaching.

Being snubbed by a dog as if her hands were dirty, Su Qingqing felt she couldn’t save face and immediately developed a teeth-grinding hatred for Lei Shi. Now seeing Lei Shi being humbled by Heitan, she couldn’t help but feel extremely satisfied, shamelessly clapping for Heitan.

On the other hand, Master Huang stared at Heitan with bright eyes and after a long while, he burst into laughter, exclaiming:

”Dammit! No wonder that little Jingba at home takes off with its tail between its legs at the sight of this one, just like a mouse seeing a cat! This little guy is very likely the Dog King!”

Master Huang’s face turned red, his eyes firmly fixed on Heitan, obviously extremely excited, and couldn’t help but let out a swear word.

”Dog King? What does that mean?” Su Qingqing, upon hearing her grandfather’s comments, was somewhat at a loss.

”The Dog King is the strongest among dogs, just like the leader in a pride of lions or a pack of wolves.”

Master Huang explained it very simply, but everyone understood.

”There’s a king among dogs?!” Bai Yishan’s eyes widened in disbelief. Dogs were usually kept by households, either as guard dogs or as pets, they weren’t pack animals or ferocious beasts, so how could there be a title such as ”king”?

”Why wouldn’t there be a Dog King?” Master Huang stared intensely, ”Have you heard of the Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff? It is the fiercest and most vicious breed, known as the king of dogs. However, they are near extinction, and you would struggle to find even five throughout the country.”

”Besides the Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff, Tibetans also raise Tibetan Mastiffs, and among them, there are the most formidable ones, which are also called Mastiff Kings. The Tibetan Mastiff King dares to fight with tigers and cheetahs. Ordinary dogs and wild animals only have to step aside when they see it.”

Huo Sining didn’t know much about Tibetan Mastiffs, but she had heard of the much-discussed Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff in her past life.

The Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff was known to be the most ferocious among the Tibetan Mastiff breeds. It was said that when housed in a Mastiff park, a single bark from it would make all the other Tibetan Mastiffs fall silent and lie down in submission.

Even if there were ordinary Tibetan Mastiffs that were defiant and unwilling to submit, they would only dare to bark at the Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff a couple of times, as if to talk tough and bolster their courage. But when it came to really confronting and fighting the Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff, they wouldn’t dare to do it.

There was someone in the country who had bought a Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff, and before even getting the Mastiff back, that Ghost Mastiff had already caused the death of several ordinary Tibetan Mastiffs. After the new owner brought it home, they didn’t even dare to get too close when feeding it.

A dog like that could indeed be called the king among dogs.

However, Heitan appeared very docile, and although he could be quite proud and haughty at times, in front of Huo Sining he was absolutely a good baby. Could such a temperament really be compared with the likes of a Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff, a dog king?

Huo Sining was highly doubtful.

”Wow!” Su Qingqing’s eyes lit up when she heard what Huang Chengyi said, and her gaze towards Heitan suddenly changed, ”Does that mean Heitan is also a Mastiff King?”

Master Huang shook his head, ”I’m not sure about that. I’m just guessing based on the performance of that adult Mastiff just now, but it is indeed rare for this little one to show a king’s temperament at such a young age. Even if he can’t compare to the Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff, he’s definitely a king among ordinary Tibetan Mastiffs!”

”Are Mastiff Kings very valuable?” Li Quan was more concerned about how much this Tibetan Mastiff was worth as opposed to Su Qingqing.

Mr. Huang glanced at Li Quan with obvious annoyance at his vulgar question, but still, he answered:

”Of course they’re valuable. An ordinary adult Tibetan Mastiff can sell for hundreds of thousands. If it’s more obedient and stronger, it can go for over a million. I’ve never seen a Mastiff King for sale, but they’re absolutely priceless. Even if they were to be priced at tens of millions, it is not certain that anyone would be willing to sell!”

”But there’s one thing I still don’t understand.”

As he spoke, Mr. Huang paused, looked Heitan up and down with a puzzled expression, and then raised his head to look at Huo Sining.

”I remember when this little guy first came back he wasn’t even three months old, looking all pitiful. Although he didn’t have much fur, I’m sure he’s a mix of Jin and Tibetan Mastiff. The Jin traits were very obvious back then. How come after raising him for a little over a month, he looks more and more like a pure Tibetan Mastiff? There’s no trace of the Jin bloodline at all.”

When he said this, Huo Sining suddenly felt a bit guilty and awkwardly glanced at Yan Feng, offering a vague explanation, ”Genetic inheritance is very diverse. Maybe he inherited dominant genes from the Tibetan Mastiff line, so the Jin bloodline was suppressed.”

This explanation made Mr. Huang nod repeatedly, ”That’s not impossible. Genetics are mysterious, just like with children. Some look like their mothers when they’re born but grow up to look more like their fathers. Looking at how this little guy is turning out, I suspect he will become even more impressive in the future. You have indeed stumbled upon a treasure!”

Huo Sining smiled outwardly, but she clearly understood that it was not she who had found a treasure, but Heitan who was fortunate to have encountered her.

If it were not for her, this Mastiff would probably have died long ago due to the malady inflicted by that dog treasure. And even if the treasure had not been discovered and taken directly from him, he would have been tormented by illness to his death.

It was only because she treated him with Spiritual Energy, combing and healing him, that on a fortuitous occasion the dog underwent a mutation. Not only did he transform into a Mastiff with pure bloodline, but the dog treasure also became a part of his body.

Huo Sining secretly speculated that the reason he had become the legendary Mastiff King was most likely related to that mutated dog treasure.

However, Huo Sining also had to admit that encountering Heitan was indeed like finding a treasure for her because if Heitan had not had the dog treasure in his belly, even if she could have used Spiritual Energy to groom him, he would have at best become just an ordinary pure Tibetan Mastiff, and certainly not a Mastiff King.

Although there was a slip-up during that Spiritual Energy healing session that nearly caused a disaster, fortunately, it was averted without any harm done.

By simply picking up a stray dog, she ended up with a Mastiff King, and of course, Huo Sining was overjoyed.

What was more, compared to the Ghost-faced Tibetan Mastiff, Heitan’s obedience was clearly better; he was more intelligent and responsive.
