Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 314: Chapter 311: The Clean-Freak Tibetan Mastiff

Uncle Liu, the innkeeper, led the guests over and exchanged a few words with Master Yan before leaving, allowing Huo Sining and her group to follow Master Yan inside the gate.

Upon entering, they saw the yard was planted with many camphor and redwood trees. The flowers and grass weren’t of rare varieties, but the whole courtyard was arranged in a very unique way.

It was already winter, and outside in Hetian, signs of desolate cold winter were everywhere. In contrast, Yan Residence was full of greenery and vibrant with life, starkly different from the outside. As they stepped into the courtyard, their hearts felt quietly settled, and they faintly sensed a feeling of warmth.

Perhaps seeing the puzzled looks on the faces of Su Qingqing and the others, Master Yan explained with a smile, ”This house is built on a hot spring eye. The water in the house is sourced from the hot spring, so the trees in the yard stay green all year round, and the flowers bloom throughout the seasons.”

While explaining, Master Yan had already led them down a small path, and not far in, they indeed saw a small clear pond with steam rising from it. The hot spring water was bubbling up, and indeed, around the spring, many flowers were growing haphazardly, including peonies, roses, poppies, and fairy primrose, without any regard for the seasons.

When they came to the stone pavilion in the courtyard, Huo Sining saw that it was filled with wood, and there were hand-carved tools on the stone platform. It seemed that Master Yan had just been woodcarving, but was interrupted by their uninvited arrival.

Huo Sining was about to say something when suddenly, from one side, a large dog breed barreled towards them. Huo Sining was not afraid of dogs, but upon seeing this one, her expression changed drastically, and she hurriedly pulled Su Qingqing and the others back several steps in a panic.

This dog was none other than a Tibetan Mastiff, and moreover, it was an adult one, several sizes larger than her family’s Heitan.

Bai Yishan was so frightened by the dog that she stood still, afraid to move, while Su Qingqing exclaimed excitedly, ”Wow, Ningning, look! This Tibetan Mastiff is even more majestic than your Heitan. Its fur is so long it looks just like a lion. I didn’t know Tibetan Mastiffs could grow this big!”

Huo Sining kept a stiff expression. She always suspected that Su Qingqing must have been modified by aliens; otherwise, why would her thought process always be so different from others?

Although Li Quan had never seen a Tibetan Mastiff, he had heard of their fierce reputation. Hearing Su Qingqing say that the dog was a Tibetan Mastiff, his face immediately turned ashen with fright.

Are you kidding me? These Tibetan Mastiffs can fight with packs of wolves. If it really charged and bit someone, it wouldn’t end with a simple bite; you’d lose chunks of flesh.

The Tibetan Mastiff, having never seen Huo Sining and the others, sensed unfamiliar scents after dashing out and immediately felt its territory was being invaded. Its face showed its ferocity in an instant as it puffed up its fur and bared its teeth in a stance ready to attack.

Master Yan turned around and immediately saw the Tibetan Mastiff frightening his guests, swiftly shouting, ”Lei Shi, get back here!”

Being scolded by its master, Lei Shi was a little unhappy and growled low at Huo Sining and the others a few times before reluctantly running back. It lay down in a shady spot in the yard, but its eyes continued to stare intently at Huo Sining and her group.

”I’m sorry for scaring you, it was really my fault. Lei Shi acted like that because he doesn’t recognize you,” Master Yan consoled, ”But don’t be afraid. Without my command, Lei Shi won’t bite anyone.”

Su Qingqing asked with unabashed curiosity, ”Master Yan, is Lei Shi the name of this Tibetan Mastiff? Can I touch it?”

In S City, Su Qingqing enjoyed going to Huo Sining’s house to pet Heitan, but Heitan was not cooperative. Whenever Su Qingqing came by, Heitan either stood its ground against her or turned tail and ran away, clearly not wanting to deal with her.

Su Qingqing liked large dogs, but Huang Hongying wouldn’t allow one in the house. She had long coveted the dog at Huo Sining’s home. Now seeing a dog even bigger than Heitan, she naturally had the itch to reach out and pet it.

Hearing Su Qingqing’s words, both Huo Sining and Bai Yishan felt a headache coming on, and the corner of Li Quan’s mouth twitched, rendered speechless by Su Qingqing’s absurd behavior, inappropriate to the time and place.

Master Yan was taken aback, probably because he’d never had a visitor make such a request before. He looked Su Qingqing up and down a few times, making sure she wasn’t joking, before laughing and saying,

”Lei Shi is a bit of a clean freak and doesn’t like others touching him. But if you really want to touch him, I’ll make an exception just this once.”

A dog with a clean freak? Huo Sining was dumbfounded by this explanation, her gaze lingering on Lei Shi with a mix of weirdness and skepticism.

On hearing this, Su Qingqing was overjoyed and quickly wriggled out of Huo Sining’s grasp, following Master Yan over to the Tibetan Mastiff. Master Yan whispered a few words to the dog before signaling Su Qingqing to pet its fur.

Unexpectedly, as soon as Su Qingqing approached Lei Shi, it hurriedly tried to stand up.

Master Yan shouted, ”Lei Shi, stay down!”

The Tibetan Mastiff obediently lay down, but it stared at Su Qingqing with unfriendly eyes, as if it might pounce on her at any moment.

Huo Sining was extremely anxious. She hadn’t expected Su Qingqing to be so bold and was afraid the Tibetan Mastiff might bite her if it wasn’t pleased.

Su Qingqing had only seen the gentle side of the Tibetan Mastiffs and thought they were like domestic pets. If she had seen the fierce scenes of them fighting with wild wolves, Huo Sining was sure she would stay as far away from them as possible.

Fortunately, the Tibetan Mastiff was very obedient to Master Yan’s commands. After Master Yan ordered it to stay down, it lay there in place, not moving an inch, allowing Su Qingqing to manhandle its body.

Its face, however, was filled with disdain and discomfort, squinting its eyes unhappily. This sight made Huo Sining and the others almost burst into laughter; they had probably never seen a dog with such human-like expressions before.

”Ningning, the fur on this Tibetan Mastiff is so comfortable. Your Heitan is too small, his fur isn’t even fully grown in yet. I wonder when he’ll be able to grow as much fur as Lei Shi. That would be great—if only my family would let me keep one too!”

Su Qingqing was brimming with enthusiasm, clearly very interested in the Tibetan Mastiff.

Her wish fulfilled, Su Qingqing was all smiles. But just when she had stood up, the Tibetan Mastiff suddenly sprang up from the ground.

Huo Sining’s face changed, thinking the Tibetan Mastiff would attack Su Qingqing, but instead, the dog dashed straight into a pond not far away and began to splash around in the water.

Huo Sining and the others were staring, dumbfounded, while Master Yan’s face showed an embarrassed hint, ”It’s a clean freak. If someone else touches it, it has to take a bath.”

Su Qingqing’s face froze instantly, looking constipated at the Tibetan Mastiff happily bathing in the pond.

She was disliked by a dog?!

”Pfft—” Huo Sining and Bai Yishan exchanged glances, trying to suppress the laughter on their faces, while Li Quan on the other hand, couldn’t hold back and just burst out laughing.
