Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 339: Chapter 335 Jealousy

Yan Feng raised an eyebrow, ”Isn’t it you who came to ask me to come out of retirement? Now what, you are unhappy after I refused you once?”

”No, no, willing, definitely willing!” Huo Sining nodded like a pecking chick, eagerly agreeing.

Yan Feng asked, ”What kind of store do you run, and what do you want me to do there?”

Huo Sining was taken aback when she heard this and realized that Yan Feng had misunderstood, waving her hands repeatedly:

”It’s not me. It’s my friend who wants you to come out of retirement, not me. She runs a jade studio, customizing high-end jadeite accessories. Because there’s a large customer base and the clients have high demands, ordinary sculptors can’t meet their needs, so she would like to invite you as a master to take charge.”

Yan Feng, however, showed little interest: ”Oh, it’s not your shop. Then never mind. I’d rather stay at home.”

Huo Sining was dumbfounded, her face flushing red: ”Well, actually I have a partnership with her. I supply her studio with jadeite raw materials, so the business performance of her studio directly affects how much money I can make.”

”A monthly salary of two hundred thousand, including food and accommodation, working only three days a week. I am quite particular about my food, I only eat Cantonese and Suzhou dishes, and they must be made by authentic chefs. The place where I live must be secluded and tranquil, and moreover, Lei Shi needs to eat fresh meat every meal,” Yan Feng said casually, watching Huo Sining.

”Ah?” Huo Sining looked at Yan Feng in confusion. What did he mean by that?

”S City, I’ve heard, is quite nice. I’ve been looking for an opportunity to go there, so I accept your invitation. However, I will only be employed by you, and you will be the one to pay my salary!”

Seeing Huo Sining’s stunned expression, a rare smile flashed across Yan Feng’s eyes, but it disappeared in an instant as he resumed his usual aloof demeanor.

Huo Sining’s eyes widened in surprise, unable to believe what she was seeing.

He had actually agreed to her proposal to come out of retirement and go to S City to become the sculptor for Bai Yishan’s studio?! Was this like mana from heaven?

Huo Sining stood there dumbfounded, unable to recover her senses for a good while.

”Also, I only deal with high-end jadeite. Anything below High Ice Type Jadeite does not catch my eye. My salary must be transferred to my account on time. We won’t sign a labor contract, and I will leave whenever I no longer wish to work,” Yan Feng finished, then turned and headed straight for the door.

As he reached the door and opened it, Yan Feng noticed the grim-faced door god, Gu Xu.

A hint of mischief flickered in his eyes and the corners of his mouth curved slightly. He suddenly halted, turned back toward Huo Sining, and said with feigned ambiguity, ”From now on, I am yours!”

Huo Sining felt bewildered, sensing her cold sweat was about to break out.

Yan Feng usually appeared so aloof, as if he wanted nothing to do with anyone, but now he had suddenly made an ambiguous statement like ”I am yours,” changing the vibe entirely too quickly.

Huo Sining couldn’t react in time, and by the time she realized something was off, Yan Feng was already far away.

Looking outside the room, Gu Xu’s face had turned completely dark, his eyes filled with gloom.

Su Qingqing and Bai Yishan, on the other hand, looked at her with admiration, with Su Qingqing even giving her a thumbs-up.

Meanwhile, Ouyang Jun and the others were dumbstruck, their gazes skeptical as if suspecting that she and Yan Feng had been up to something indecent in the closed room.

Huo Sining suddenly felt speechless; she was in a situation so murky not even a plunge into the Yellow River could cleanse her.

However, after Huo Sining explained the story behind everything, the expressions of those people changed.

Ji Kun, although involved in the collector’s circle, had also heard of Yan Feng’s reputation. Learning that he was actually persuaded by Huo Sining to come out of seclusion immediately altered the way Ji Kun looked at her.

It goes without saying for Bai Yishan and Su Qingqing, they were nothing but admiring towards Huo Sining.

Yet Huo Sining felt somewhat embarrassed, especially in the afternoon when Yan Feng really came to the airport dragging his luggage along with their group.

Ever since learning that Yan Feng was going to follow Huo Sining back to S City and stay there for a long time, Gu Xu’s complexion had darkened.

All through the journey, Gu Xu kept Huo Sining protected at his side as if a hen shielding her chicks, wary of a wolf snatching them away, his gaze towards Yan Feng was particularly hostile.

He was a man, a special forces soldier at that, with an extraordinary intuition for enemies; this man named Yan Feng looked at Huo Sining as if she were prey, certainly hiding unspeakable intentions, undoubtedly not as simple as coming to be a master sculptor.

Since they didn’t find the Hetian Jade they wanted, Ouyang Jun and Ji Kun did not return with Huo Sining’s group but decided to stay in Hetian for a few more days, then check out the jade fair for suitable jade materials.

In fact, Huo Sining really wanted to tell Ouyang Jun that there’s no need for any jade fair, as she had collected quite a few fine jades in her Storage Space, available upon request.

However, she did not voice this thought and instead decided to wait until she returned to S City to cut open those Hetian jade stones into clear materials before offering one to Ouyang Jun.

Gu Xu had come from his company to Hetian in a hurry, with several important meetings awaiting his return, and by the morning, his phone was almost blown up by calls from Song Hui.

Huo Sining knew that Gu Xu was busy, yet he had hurried over without hesitation when she was in danger, warming her heart, coupled with a tinge of guilt, ”Gu Xu, if you’re busy, you should head back to the Imperial Capital first; we can make our way back on our own.”

Gu Xu’s eyes narrowed, without a second word, he wrapped Huo Sining in his embrace, slightly lowering his head, his handsome and deep features appearing before her eyes.

Those usually upturned phoenix eyes were now slightly drooped, his dark pupils revealing a mix of innocence and grievance, his tone somewhat sad, ”Do you really not want to see me that much, so eager to send me away?”

”Ah?” Huo Sining was somewhat taken aback, noticing Su Qingqing and Bai Yishan making faces at her from the side, which made her feel uncomfortable again, ”That’s not it; aren’t you busy? I’m just worried it’s too exhausting for you to rush around.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xu’s countenance softened considerably, ”How did you get to know that Yan Feng? Are you... very close?”

Huo Sining shook her head, ”No, including the visit to the Yan Residence a few days ago, I’ve met him only twice in total.”

Gu Xu then looked as content as a cat that had its fur stroked the right way, his wounded feelings instantly healed, and his usually stern lips softened as he tilted his head down to gently touch Huo Sining’s fair and delicate face.

Huo Sining felt the spot where she was kissed heat up instantly, like a startled deer, she looked up at Gu Xu, then sneakily glanced over at Su Qingqing. Noticing that the group was busy chatting and hadn’t seen her reaction, she let out a slight sigh of relief.

”Stay away from that Yan Feng after we get back to S City; he’s not a good person.”

Seeing the bashful expression on Huo Sining’s face, a hint of a smile appeared in the depth of Gu Xu’s eyes. He brought his fist to his mouth and gently coughed, then suddenly whispered in a low voice.

Huo Sining: ...

Could it be that this man... was jealous?
