Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 311: Chapter 308: The Great Change of the Living Person

But at this moment, what the students from the Mathematics Department were thinking about was not Huo Sining’s reputation, but her astonishing and admirable magical skills, which sparked even more envy and jealousy among the students from the College of Biology.

If Huo Sining were still in the Mathematics Department, could they also proudly tell others that they were classmates with S University’s newly rising Miss Magic?

But now that Huo Sining had transferred to the College of Biology, those who had gossiped about her behind her back or even secretly spoken ill of her were suddenly feeling bitter.

No matter how indignant the people from the Mathematics Department felt, suspecting that the College of Biology had picked up a bargain, the fact was that the folks from the College of Biology were overjoyed. They were so supportive of Huo Sining’s performance that they clapped until their hands swelled, but still kept applauding vigorously.

”Is that the end?” someone in the audience wondered, not yet satisfied.

”It should be over I guess, I really want to know where she made that Tibetan Mastiff disappear to.”

”No, wait, that prop covered with the red silk ribbon on the stage doesn’t seem to have been used.”

Noticing that a prop on stage hadn’t been used and hadn’t been removed, someone felt puzzled and could not help asking out loud.

”Maybe it’s a prop for the next act, and the prop master got it wrong and brought it up ahead of time.”

Some in the audience didn’t think much of it and responded while continuing to applaud.

Just when everyone thought the act was over, Huo Sining did not take her bow but stood on the stage, smiling at the audience and asking, ”Are you satisfied with this act?”

”Satisfied!”

”Was it thrilling enough?”

”Not thrilling enough!”

”Do you want to see more?”

The audience, not minding making a scene, naturally seized the opportunity, ”We want to see more!”

Huo Sining smiled and without a change in her expression, glanced at Du Yanlin standing next to her, ready to take over the announcing duties, and asked, ”Then, how about I add an extra segment next, and perform a more challenging magic trick for you all?!”

”Great!”

This proposal naturally received everyone’s support, even the judges and school leaders in the audience were surprised, looking up. The teachers from the various cultural clubs who had already seen Huo Sining’s performance during the preliminary selection round exchanged glances, wondering what Huo Sining was up to.

Huo Sining nodded gracefully, ”The next magic performance will be an interactive segment, and I’ll need to invite someone to assist.”

Many in the audience eagerly raised their hands, but Huo Sining’s gaze swept across the crowd until suddenly, it landed on Du Yanlin. She hooked her lips and extended her hand to point at Du Yanlin, saying:

”After all, magic has to be a feast for the eyes to be enjoyable, so I need to invite a beauty to join me. Why don’t we have our beautiful host help me out with this!”

Du Yanlin was so angry at Huo Sining for performing the magic successfully that she was grinding her teeth. She was planning to announce the next act after Huo Sining left the stage, and then trip her up so that Huo Sining would fall and make a fool of herself. To her surprise, Huo Sining improvised an interactive segment.

And to top it off, she had the nerve to single her out.

Du Yanlin was no fool; seeing the expression on Huo Sining’s face, she knew she had ill intentions.

Although Du Yanlin didn’t want to accommodate Huo Sining’s wishes, on second thought, she couldn’t help but feel elated.

All magic is fake, so what if she, as the assistant, didn’t cooperate?

Du Yanlin saw this as an opportunity to sabotage Huo Sining’s magic successfully. As long as she meddled, ensuring Huo Sining’s trick failed, Huo Sining would surely become the laughingstock of S University. Moreover, no one would blame her; if anyone were to be blamed, it would only be for Huo Sining’s poor magic skill.

The more she thought about it, the more Du Yanlin felt pleased with her idea. She lifted her chin with a cold snort and strode onto the stage, taking her place at the center.

Huo Sining had anticipated that Du Yanlin wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to sabotage her, so when Du Yanlin took the stage, Huo Sining’s eyes immediately flashed with a sly, fox-like gleam.

She circled the object on the stage shrouded by a red silk ribbon, then with both hands, she yanked the ribbon off in one swift motion.

A huge wooden box was revealed, measuring a square 1.2 meters on each side, prompting puzzlement among the audience, uncertain of Huo Sining’s intentions with this box.

”See, I told you that prop hadn’t been used yet; it’s definitely not over.”

”A box, and she’s inviting the host to interact—what kind of magic trick is she preparing to perform?”

The audience’s imaginations ran wild with various conjectures, but on stage, Huo Sining had already lifted the box’s lid and turned it to face the audience, showing its completely empty interior, devoid of any mechanisms or additional props.

”Next, may I ask the host to enter this box? Don’t worry, there’s no danger; just sit inside the box.”

Huo Sining’s voice was gentle as if seeking Du Yanlin’s consent.

Many in the audience wished for such an opportunity themselves, looking at Du Yanlin with eyes full of envy and jealousy.

In front of so many people, Du Yanlin naturally did not want to show weakness. Besides, she didn’t see anything humiliating about climbing into a box.

However, she was still wary that Huo Sining might trip her up, causing her to lose face in front of everyone. She carefully eyed both Huo Sining and the box for several seconds, and after making sure there was nothing amiss, she cautiously lifted the hem of her dress and carefully stepped into the box.

The space inside the box was quite ample; Du Yanlin fit comfortably, and it didn’t feel claustrophobic at all with just her sitting inside.

Seeing Du Yanlin enter the box, a smile flickered on Huo Sining’s face before she turned to address the audience, ”I’m sure many of you wonder what magic I am performing. Now let me tell you, this extra segment of the game is called—’The Great Transformation: Alive to Alive!’”

The audience was abuzz; many had heard of this trick before, but its difficulty was no small matter.

Huo Sining’s previous minor acts, though magical, were not considered difficult in the eyes of many, as a common magician could perform them as well.

But ’The Great Transformation: Alive to Alive’ was different, especially since Huo Sining had arbitrarily picked a person from the audience—the difficulty of this trick was comparable to David Copperfield’s Water Tank Escape.

Even Du Yanlin didn’t believe Huo Sining could pull it off, having felt around the inside of the box after climbing in to verify that there were no hidden compartments or moving panels surrounding it.

Such a prop was completely just a tight, sealed, ordinary wooden box—could someone really disappear from inside it? Du Yanlin was quite skeptical.

With a confident smile on her face, Huo Sining let the murmurs from the audience continue for a while before she raised her index finger to her lips and gently shushed them; silence immediately fell over the audience.
