Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 330: Chapter 326: Ran Away

The Uyghur trader had just stepped into the cave when he sensed something was amiss; only a few broken ropes remained in the middle of the cave, and the kidnapped woman was nowhere to be seen.

Immediately, his heart sank—he cursed inwardly, realizing that the woman had escaped!

However, it was just at this moment that a crisp female voice suddenly rang out from one side: ”Hi!”

The Uyghur trader turned his head and saw Huo Sining standing prettily inside the cave, one hand behind her back and the other waving at them.

”How did you break free from the ropes, and where are the other two?”

A wave of anger surged through the Uyghur trader, and he was about to step forward and interrogate her when, in the blink of an eye, Huo Sining suddenly extended the hand that was behind her back. In her hand, she held a 60 ml bottle of anti-wolf pepper spray and sprayed it with lightning speed.

”Ah—”

A cry of agony filled the air as the sprayed Uyghur trader instantly felt a burning pain in his eyes, tears and snot streaming down his face. Instinctively, he reached to wipe them, only to find that it made things worse; the pepper spray had gotten into his eyes, making them sting even more, to the point he couldn’t keep them open any longer.

This kind of anti-wolf spray could cause temporary blindness for fifty minutes, and it was extremely fast-acting.

Seeing the Uyghur trader clutching his eyes, Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile smugly at the other dumbstruck Uyghur gangster beside him.

With one person dealt with, the other would be easy to handle.

The second Uyghur gangster stood stunned for three seconds before snapping to action, turning round to sprint out of the cave, while trying to pull out his phone to call for backup.

However, if he had chosen to confront Huo Sining directly, she might have found it troublesome, but when it came to running, he definitely couldn’t match her pace. After all, even Chen Deping had praised her running achievements during military training.

The man hadn’t managed to dial the phone, nor had he broken out of the cave’s entrance before Huo Sining caught up to him. Without time to react, she reached out and touched his shoulder.

In a mere moment, the third gangster was taken care of and put inside her ring.

Having dealt with these four men, Huo Sining finally felt her heart settle. She had reached the entrance of the cave and naturally didn’t linger, heading straight outside.

Fortunately, these gangsters had underestimated her, seeing her as no more than a woman; they only sent four men to guard her. Had there been a few more, she might not have been able to handle them.

Taking a deep breath, Huo Sining stepped out of the cave and realized she was actually at the edge of a cliff. The cliff was a good twenty or thirty meters high, and she had been kidnapped and held captive in a cave at the base of it.

Near the cliff was a pile of shattered rocks, and less than fifty meters from the cliff, there flowed a winding, lengthy river.

It was only after seeing the river that Huo Sining had a moment of clarity.

It turned out that the kidnappers had taken her to the Yu River; she just didn’t know whether it was the Baiyu River or the Moyu River. Her backpack had been snatched by those gangsters, and her phone was in it, leaving her with no means to contact anyone else.

The Yu River was at least several dozen kilometers from the Hotan County Town; it was obviously impossible for her to walk back.

Moreover, Huo Sining remembered that one of the Uyghur traders had made a phone call earlier, indicating that there were more than just these four kidnappers involved. There must be others orchestrating this extortion scheme. Unfamiliar with the area, and having narrowly escaped, she knew she couldn’t afford to act rashly.

Thinking of this, Huo Sining’s gaze fell on the Moyu River that was rolling away not far from her.

She might not have been certain in other places, but in the water, those kidnappers, even if they wanted to catch her, would probably be helpless.

With this thought, Huo Sining did not hesitate and dashed to the riverbank in a few strides, soon stepping into the river.

In the Uyghur language, ”jade” is called ”Kashgar”. There are two Kashgar rivers in Hetian, one being the Yulong Kashgar River, which is the Baiyu River, and the other is the Karakash River, which is the Moyu River; both rivers originate from Kunlun Mountain and are named for the abundant Hetian Jade produced there.

Although it was winter, the water of the Yu River had not frozen, but it was still icy and bone-chilling.

However, Huo Sining had the Water-Repelling Pearl, so even though the water was icy cold, it didn’t affect her much.

Initially, Huo Sining only wanted to delay for time, waiting for Ouyang Jun to send rescue, but once she dived underwater, she saw a large pile of pebbles densely arranged on the riverbed, which immediately caught her eye.

The Yu River produces seed material, and most of the finished jade and raw jade materials she saw at the market and in the countryside were dug out from Kunlun Mountain or the Yu River.

The local farmers, who have lived off jade for generations, conduct careful observation and meticulously select the jade before excavating it.

But Huo Sining did not need to, for she had the Water-Repelling Pearl, making these stones transparent to her, to be played with any way she liked.

With this thought, Huo Sining was overjoyed and couldn’t wait to dive to the bottom.

On this side, Huo Sining was having a great time looking for Hetian jade stones, while on the other side, the weeping Uyghur merchant, with his eyes shut tight from distress, couldn’t open them at all. At this moment his phone rang again. Unable to see, he fumbled to pull out his phone and answer the call.

”How come Ackton’s phone is unreachable? You are still there, right? The boss has also arrived, and there are people coming to pay the ransom. We’re preparing to negotiate with them. Bring your people down here.”

Upon hearing this, the Uyghur merchant stammered for a while before daring to speak, ”That woman has run away!”

”What did you say?!” The person on the phone thought he had misheard and reflexively asked back.

Frightened, the Uyghur merchant’s body trembled as he stiffly said, ”That woman ran away and sprayed my eyes with pepper spray. I can’t see anything now and don’t know where she ran off to.”

”Damn it, what are you guys good for? Four grown men can’t even keep an eye on one woman?! I’m going to be driven mad by you guys. What are we supposed to do now? The people have come for her, and if we can’t produce her soon, how will we get the money?!”

The person on the phone was absolutely furious, wishing he could rush over and kick the Uyghur merchant right then and there.

The Uyghur merchant was also aggrieved. He still hadn’t figured out what had happened. He was sure he had arranged for Ackton and Nigemaiti to guard inside the cave, but those two had also vanished.

What puzzled him even more was that the ropes on that woman’s hands and feet had been tied by him, using the special knots he employed for tying jade stones, knots that were impossible to break free from. How did she manage to escape? Moreover, they had taken her backpack—so where did her bottle of pepper spray come from?

With his mind filled with doubts and confusion, the Uyghur merchant was completely blind and could do nothing but sit on the ground and wait for his companions.

”The Yu River is so long, and in these desolate wilds, that woman couldn’t have gone far. Get people searching for her now!”
