Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 308: Chapter 305: Sabotage from Behind

Because she was with Heitan and there were many performers this time, Huo Sining didn’t sit in the designated area for the College of Biology in the audience seats but instead sat quietly in the car, waiting.

Huo Sining’s act wasn’t the finale, but because her magic was so captivating, the club’s teachers deliberately scheduled it as the third last act to ensure the audience stayed until the end.

The club teachers’ little calculation indeed paid off. In past welcoming parties, many students couldn’t last a few dozen minutes before leaving. However, this time, many new and older students persevered, sitting in the sports field, waiting for Huo Sining’s act to begin.

But before Huo Sining’s turn came, Zeng Liming, a member in charge of the venue’s props from the literature and arts club, ran over anxiously looking for Huo Sining.

”Huo, something’s gone wrong!” he said.

Huo Sining was stunned and looked at Zeng Liming, asking, ”What happened?”

Having apparently not faced such a situation before, Zeng Liming’s face was white, and he was at a loss:

”There’s something wrong with your props. I didn’t touch them at all after placing them in the prop room. But for some reason, the bunch of roses has been crushed to bits, and the pigeons in the cage are gone.”

Huo Sining’s face grew cold upon hearing this, ”Who has been in charge of the keys to that prop room?”

Zeng Liming thought for a while and replied, ”Only I and the literature and arts club’s Teacher Qin have the keys. My key has been with me all the time; I haven’t given it to anyone else.”

”Anyone entered the prop room before?”

Zeng Liming shook his head: ”The props in that room were sorted and stored categorically. Without a key, no one can enter.”

Zeng Liming wanted to explain further, but his phone rang at that moment. After picking up the call, he was dumbfounded.

”Teacher Qin is doing makeup for the actors. Earlier, a student ran to her to borrow the keys, claiming that they had accidentally lost mine. Teacher Qin didn’t ask much and just handed the keys to that student.”

”It must have been that person who sabotaged things. Have you offended someone, and they took revenge on you?”

Huo Sining’s heart sank, ”Didn’t you ask Teacher Qin who that person asking for the keys was?”

Zeng Liming shook his head, ”It’s too chaotic backstage with so many people running around. Teacher Qin was too busy to remember who borrowed her keys.”

Huo Sining’s lips curled into a cold smile, ”Alright, you go back first. Don’t worry about the props. I have backup emergency props that I can use. There won’t be any mishaps.”

Upon hearing this, Zeng Liming’s heart, which had been in his throat, finally settled, and he looked at Huo Sining with involuntary admiration:

”You have emergency props? No wonder you’re not worried. You are truly thorough and cautious!”

Huo Sining smiled, ”Magicians are always very careful because any small problem in any part of the act, and the whole magic performance can’t go on.”

Zeng Liming nodded in agreement upon hearing this, ”Okay, I’ll go back now. After the party is over, I’ll definitely help you find the person who caused the trouble.”

Huo Sining pursed her lips in a smile, but her eyes were filled with coldness as she instinctively looked up at Du Yanlin on the stage.

Is there really a need to look for the person? Other than her, who secretly sneaked into the prop room and caused trouble, there wouldn’t be anyone else.

Luckily, she had bought two sets of props to mislead others right from the start; she gave one set to the literature and arts club’s prop team and kept the other in the storage ring. Now that the first set of props was tampered with, she still had a replacement set at hand. Otherwise, her act wouldn’t be able to go on.

Huo Sining scoffed coldly. Du Yanlin was truly a cockroach that couldn’t be killed, growing more vigorous after each setback, and jumping around happily. Should she give her a lesson to show her just how formidable Huo Sining was?

Huo Sining’s gaze fell upon a huge wooden box inside the storage ring— that box was prepared for holding items, but why not use it as a prop as well?

Huo Sining’s eyes flickered with a hint of malice and cunning, not because she was up to no good, but because some people wouldn’t learn to behave if not taught a lesson.

As Du Yanlin stood on stage delivering her lines, she suddenly felt a chill on her arm and shivered subconsciously.

She found it puzzling, given the stage’s heating was turned up high and the temperature wasn’t low, why would she feel so cold?

Her gaze swept over the audience and landed on a large sign erected by the College of Biology, prompting an involuntary, beaming smile.

She felt quite pleased with herself. Before the start of the welcome party, the backstage area was chaotic. Taking advantage of the crowd, she borrowed the keys from Teacher Qin of the props team. At that moment, Teacher Qin, being very busy, handed over the keys without asking further questions.

Du Yanlin had long since learned that Huo Sining’s props were stored in the props room. Being the emcee, she had quietly sneaked into the props room after getting the keys and found the props labelled with Huo Sining’s name, destroying several items.

She believed she had done everything unnoticed and that even if Huo Sining suspected her, there would be no evidence, and she could do nothing about it.

However, she didn’t know that although Huo Sining was broad-minded and disliked quibbling, she wouldn’t back down if someone kept taking advantage of her and repeatedly provoked her.

Just a few props? If they were destroyed, so be it; if there were none handy, then she’d just have to use a person as a prop.

The welcome party gradually drew to a close, and soon it was Huo Sining’s turn to perform.

As she pretended to fetch her props, she pulled out a huge wooden box from the space inside the trunk of her BMW in the blink of an eye. Su Qingqing’s eyes widened at the sight of the wooden box in her trunk.

”What’s this wooden box for?”

Huo Sining wore a mysterious smile, ”It’s a prop too. This is an extra segment I’m adding to tonight’s show, which will definitely be liked by many.”

”What is it?” Su Qingqing asked curiously.

Huo Sining’s lips curved up into an evil grin, her eyes gleaming as she looked towards Du Yanlin.

”You’ll find out soon enough. Just be sure to protect your throat and try not to scream too excitedly.”

On stage, Du Yanlin’s eyes brimmed with self-satisfaction and schadenfreude following her apparent success.

”A video that’s been wildly circulated on the school forum recently, do you all know it?” Du Yanlin asked.

”We know!” The crowd was thrilled, eagerly anticipating the long-awaited show.

”What video?”

”Magic!”

”Close-up magic!”

”Huo Sining!”

”Magic! Magic! Magic!”

The audience gradually erupted into a clamor, chanting ’magic’ in unison.

Seeing the crowd cheering, Du Yanlin’s eyes flickered with displeasure, but she quickly regained her smile. With the props destroyed, she was curious to see how Huo Sining would perform!
