Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 303: Chapter 300 The Stunning Magic

Xu Yating also had an epiphany. She said, ”Why was Huo Sining so secretive about the performance, not letting me know? It turns out he was afraid I’d act too deliberately if I knew.”

Indeed, Xu Yating was very surprised. Just now, Huo Sining had made an egg disappear right in front of her. She didn’t believe in such sorcery, and flipped Huo Sining’s hands back and forth several times, then searched through the table baskets, but found nothing at all.

”All right, that was just a prank; let me bring the egg back because our class leader seems to not have had enough for lunch,” Huo Sining said with a small joke, giving Xu Yating a teasing look, and suddenly clapped his hands to draw everyone’s attention.

In the blink of an eye, an egg appeared in the palm of Huo Sining’s hand.

Everyone gasped, mouths agape, and Xu Yating, who was sitting closest to Huo Sining, nearly dropped her jaw.

”Where did you pull it out from?!” she exclaimed.

Huo Sining smiled, ”I can’t tell you that; we usually don’t reveal the secrets of magic.”

Xu Yating asked, ”Not even if you’re killed?”

Huo Sining gave a playful smile, ”If I’m killed, I might tell.”

The audience burst into laughter with a smattering of applause.

Huo Sining smiled again. ”Class leader, do you like playing cards?”

Xu Yating immediately looked at Huo Sining with suspicion, ”Students should not gamble.”

Huo Sining pouted, ”Class leader, you’re too dedicated. Don’t be so tense; I’m talking about playing games. Playing cards are excellent tools for games.”

As he spoke, Huo Sining took out a brand new deck of playing cards in front of everyone and signaled to Xu Yating to pick one out.

Xu Yating did as told, and per Huo Sining’s instruction, did not let him see the specific number on the playing card.

Huo Sining smiled and gestured for Xu Yating to hold the remaining cards in her hand and shuffle them again.

”So, you want to guess which card I’ve picked?” Xu Yating caught on quickly, only pausing for a few seconds before guessing Huo Sining’s intent.

Huo Sining nodded, smiling, ”I think it’s the King of Hearts.”

Xu Yating’s smile froze on her face; she looked at the card in her hand, then repeatedly asked Huo Sining, ”Are you sure? You won’t change your mind?”

Huo Sining didn’t miss the flicker of panic in Xu Yating’s eyes. She was signaling him, but he just shook his head, ”I’m sure.”

Xu Yating’s heart sank. She thought, ’This is bad, one day’s time really isn’t enough, Huo Sining’s magic hasn’t been perfected, he’s underprepared—it’s going to fail!’

Xu Yating hesitated for a moment before slowly revealing the card in her hand.

Her complexion turned a bit pale; the card clearly displayed the Six of Diamonds, yet Huo Sining had guessed the King of Hearts—hadn’t he guessed wrong?

A stir went through the audience. Everyone thought Huo Sining’s magic had been exposed. Wang Qin, who had been indignantly upset backstage, couldn’t help but sneer. She had thought Huo Sining could really perform devastating magic, but it turned out to be nothing special!

The audience buzzed with discussion, and even the judges furrowed their brows. Just when one judge was about to hold up a card to stop the performance and call on the next act, Huo Sining smiled, ”Oh dear, did I guess wrong?”

She walked up to Xu Yating, took the card in her hand, suddenly smiled, and held up the card again for everyone to see: ”No mistake, it is the King of Hearts.”

Everyone was stunned; the card that Xu Yating had just held was clearly the Six of Diamonds—how did it turn into the King of Hearts?

Xu Yating was also taken aback. When Huo Sining had taken that six of diamonds just before, she was still worried, but now that the king of hearts appeared, she was even more stunned.

Nobody knew exactly when or how Huo Sining had changed that playing card!

”Damn, that’s so cool!”

”Standing so close and I still didn’t see it clearly, it was too fast. Did any of you see how she changed the card?”

”This has got to be what they call close-up magic, right? I heard it’s really difficult, what’s this girl’s name, this is just too fucking awesome!”

”Shit, I’m gonna learn magic too; this is totally a chick magnet, man. With this trick, wouldn’t that just utterly impress the girls, unbeatable in picking up chicks!”

The boys in the audience who had come to see the performance were all incredibly excited, looking at Huo Sining with eyes full of admiration, almost wishing they could run up on stage right away and ask Huo Sining to teach them.

Seeing this, Xu Yating, who had been anxious, suddenly felt relieved and looked at Huo Sining with a smirk, ”You’re cheating!”

Huo Sining smiled and asked, ”I only said guess the playing card, but you didn’t say I couldn’t guess it this way, did you?”

Xu Yating, feeling frustrated, looked at the remaining glass in Huo Sining’s basket, ”What’s this for then?”

Huo Sining took out the last prop as requested and placed the glass on the table.

”This is a glass.” Huo Sining tapped on it and then passed the glass to Xu Yating to inspect carefully, ”Just an ordinary glass.”

Xu Yating picked up the glass and looked it over, confirming that what Huo Sining said was correct, ”You can buy these at any supermarket.”

Huo Sining nodded and then took out a coin from his pocket and handed it to Xu Yating, ”This is a one-yuan coin.”

Xu Yating also took it and checked it thoroughly to confirm.

Huo Sining smiled, turned the glass upside down on the table, and said with a grin, ”Ever seen the trick where something goes through a wall?”

Xu Yating shook her head, and Huo Sining smiled at her, ”Now, without lifting the glass, I’ll make the coin go through the bottom of it into the glass. Do you believe it?”

Xu Yating hesitated, ”Just like that, it goes in?”

Huo Sining nodded, and Xu Yating, skeptical, said, ”Stop joking, how is that possible.”

While saying this, Xu Yating still stretched out her hand and tapped the bottom of the glass to ensure it was solid and that it was not possible for the coin to go through.

Huo Sining smiled, ”The moment to witness a miracle is coming up.”

As she spoke, she put the coin in her palm and gestured to Xu Yating to watch carefully and not to blink.

Xu Yating and the audience below all stared intently at Huo Sining’s hand and the glass on the table.

Just then, Huo Sining slapped the coin in the center of her palm hard against the bottom of the glass.

With a ding, the coin that was resting in Huo Sining’s palm had, incredibly, just like that, gone straight through the bottom of the glass.

It went in!

Huo Sining flipped her hand over, and it was empty. Underneath the inverted glass on the table lay a one-yuan coin, indeed.

Everyone in the audience stood up, including Gan Lijun and Qin Shaoyou, as they all stared dumbfounded at the glass on the table, their eyes revealing an expression of disbelief.
