Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 334: Chapter 330: Wait for Me

Yu Cheng couldn’t guess by what method Huo Sining had used, nor could Gu Xu figure it out.

But Huo Sining had once devised a plan to help Liao Song make a fool out of the scammer Liu Weijie, so Gu Xu deeply felt that this matter was probably Huo Sining’s doing.

He could even imagine the smug expression of a sly little fox on Huo Sining’s lips as she carried out these pranks.

As expected, a few minutes hadn’t passed before another person floated down the upstream.

Probably seeing people on the shore, the person excitedly sat on the driftwood, flailing his arms and shouting for help.

”Captain, should we save him?” Yu Cheng glanced at the two flustered and frightened thugs floating on the river and hesitated before asking.

Gu Xu’s expression turned icy as he gave Yu Cheng a sidelong glance, ”Save him? Let them keep floating; we’re going up to find our people!”

Hearing this, Yu Cheng subconsciously touched his nose and stealthily glanced at the two men on the river, making a gesture that suggested they were on their own luck.

Not only that, Gu Xu personally took action to put Ackton, who had been previously rescued to shore, back onto the driftwood and gave him a forceful push before Ackton could react, sending him back to the river’s surface.

”Uh...”

Yu Cheng was speechless at the sight, but internally he was cursing: Damn it, that’s just too mean!

He had always regarded Gu Xu as a cool and self-disciplined person with principled actions, but now seeing Gu Xu slyly using this tactic, he was stunned.

Gu Xu snorted coldly, ”What are you looking at, let’s go.”

Captain, is it really okay to be this tsundere?

Yu Cheng really wanted to make a sarcastic remark in his mind, but he feared Gu Xu would get angry out of embarrassment and beat him up.

Yu Cheng had originally thought this was just a straightforward mission, but after reuniting with Gu Xu, Ouyang Jun let something slip accidentally, and Yu Cheng then realized their captain had lied.

No wonder he saw the captain with such a dark expression as if he was about to kill someone; it turned out the kidnapped person was not someone else, but their captain’s wife.

However, Yu Cheng could well understand Gu Xu’s rage for his lady’s honor. For a man unable to protect his wife from harm was such a loss of face, and Gu Xu is the captain of Falcon, the matter was even more serious than failing a mission, representing a man’s dignity!

Gu Xu did this to vent anger for his wife, Yu Cheng had no objections to this, but he sympathetically glanced at Ackton, who had just been relieved at having survived only to be pushed back into the river, and his understanding of Huo Sining deepened.

A woman capable of toy with four big men until they were terrified and pants-wetting... none of them likely had such skill. This future sister-in-law was not to be underestimated, she was absolutely fierce!

Of course, Yu Cheng would never admit that what he was actually more curious about was which Great Luo Immortal had managed to warm up their captain, a stone that was both stinky and hard.

No, this wasn’t just a stone, this was practically Millennium Cold Iron. To have melted a piece of Millennium Cold Iron, he held unreserved admiration for this sister-in-law he had yet to meet.

Gu Xu led his team up the slope, while on the other side, Huo Sining, having had her fill of collecting jade raw materials, climbed up from the river. She had just sat down to rest for a moment when from the corner of her eye, she saw several people approaching in the distance and got scared. She was about to dive back into the water, but in the next moment, she froze.

Wearing a suit that faintly showed a brown and yellow checkered shirt beneath, the man striding in front was none other than Gu Xu.

From afar, among the scattered rocks, Huo Sining stared blankly, watching intently, momentarily feeling a bit dazed, wondering if she had seen wrong.

In the dappled light, the burly man pursed his lips and approached her with a cold expression. A chilly wind howled past as she just sat there on the sandy riverbank, motionlessly hugging her knees, foolishly staring.

Gu Xu wanted to hurry toward her, but the rugged terrain of scattered stones meant he could only lament that he wasn’t moving fast enough.

When their gazes met in midair, he dared not even blink, as if he feared she would disappear the moment he closed his eyes.

Their connection was like the sole string of a kite— he didn’t dare to pull too hard, only repeatedly shouting, ”Stay seated, don’t move, wait for me!”

His deep voice was sexy and magnetic, filling Huo Sining’s ears.

Wait for me!

Up to now, Huo Sining felt everything was commonplace and entirely manageable.

But at this moment, upon hearing the words ”wait for me,” in the presence of this man, Huo Sining’s belatedly triggered nerves finally understood what fear was, with all sorts of grim and horrible fantasies sprouting in her mind; dread and grievance overwhelmed all her reason like a relentless disaster.

”Gu Xu...” The mere murmuring of these two words broke through her feigned resilience; instantly, she felt a burning heat in her eyes.

Those brief two words, softly uttered by Huo Sining, weighed heavily on Gu Xu’s heart.

Looking at the little woman sitting on the ground with her eyes red-rimmed, he felt a calming certainty in his heart and couldn’t help but squat down and pull Huo Sining into his arms, his chin resting just beside her ear, his warm breath spilling over her ear and cheek.

In the instant he pulled Huo Sining into his embrace, the emptiness inside him was finally complete.

Her face was pale as she curled up in his embrace, still trembling uncontrollably.

”There, there, don’t be afraid, it’s all right now!” Gu Xu’s voice trembled, and he made no attempt to hide it, only asking softly, ”Are you okay, did you get hurt anywhere?”

Huo Sining suddenly lost her voice. Hearing Gu Xu’s familiar voice and smelling his familiar scent was like being reborn; the fear that came afterward was all that she felt.

In her past life, she had lost her life because of being kidnapped at sea, and Huo Sining truly felt terror toward abductions, but she had to force herself to remain calm and think of ways to save herself.

But is there really a woman born to be a tough girl? She hardened her heart, only because she felt everything depended on herself.

But in this moment, in the instant she was held in the arms of the man before her, she distinctly heard the soft sound of her own heart being moved.

It took a long while before she closed her eyes and gradually relaxed.

Only then did she feel the coolness on her face, and when she touched her cheek with her hand, she found a delicate tear track.

”I’m fine, you don’t have to worry.” Huo Sining quietly wiped the tears from her face, striving to make her voice sound untroubled and not overly emotional.

Gu Xu slipped off his coat in one swift motion and wrapped it around Huo Sining’s cold body. Huo Sining hesitated for a moment, then slowly wrapped her arms around his waist.

Gu Xu was taken aback, looked down at Huo Sining, and saw her cheeks flushed with an intoxicating tint, her eyes bright yet tender.

Seeing Gu Xu look at her, Huo Sining didn’t let go, but instead stood on tiptoe and whispered in his ear, ”Gu Xu, you have to be more patient than me.”

Because, I’ve already developed feelings for you.
